To die for! Love it!

This is my new spinel ring... small spinel from Tan. He said it was one of the old stock and had "no traces of undesirable brown"... it doesn't have any, indeed!

Really like it crasru.

Crasru I love the little hearts setting. Where did you find it? Not to mention the color!!!!!!

That is gorgeous color Crasru, absolutely gorgeous.

It literally took my breath away. Rare neon color in a mahenge spinel.

Please start a new thread on this and take more photos.

oooo, it's amazing crasu! What a colour! I think it's the most adorably-proportioned heart: fat and adorable, and I love its minimal setting. Gorgeous!

Even though I just posted about this one, I thought I'd throw it in here for prosperity. :-D

This is my first experience with her - and she is in Canada which now makes me wince - but she is businesslike, works fast, and honestly, the stone was somewhat lopsided (not that I am a purist cutting-wise any longer...). I wanted to have a double halo but she talked me out of it because of the stone's form. It is nice. Thank you all.

Athenaworth - this is so funny...

TL - this heart is small but not tiny as I thought, 1.48 ct... Very nice. You know Tan - my most likable spinels (I do not know if they are top class from the connoisseur's point of view but they are likable) are totally random buys from him. Bought at the old prices...

I promised athenaworth I would show the sister stone to hers! Both hers and mine were Tan stones. Hers is more sleepy and glowy, and mine is crisper (except for one humongous bubbly inclusion) but less glowy. They are very similar in hue. Mine is a very slightly more reddish version of pink, and hers is very slightly more neon saturated, but only a PSer would be able to tell :)

Interesting story on this: I fell in instant, irretrievable love when I saw Tan's auction for the oval; I bid on it and lost. Heartbroken, I bid up the cushion and won, assuaging my need for a Mahenge. Then... a month later... I was checking on the auctions and saw the exact same oval again. Apparently the winner had returned it! So this time I made sure to up my bid and won! I see why the previous person returned it... in some lights the inclusion is very visible and detracts from the stone (whereas in athenaworth's the inclusions really just contribute to the overall glow) but changing the angle usually makes it go away, so I don't mind it. Also, I think inclusions are cool, so there's that.

They are such lovely changeable stones... to me they look a different color in every light condition, and all of the colors beautiful.

My teeny spinel, 5.8mm, cut by Barry. If only I could get a decent glow-picture...! Plus, it looks pink-pink in person, not purple-pink.

I been looking for a spinel for awhile, I wanted a stone that would stand out, so I saw this one on the Gemfix website and took a chance, now I just have figure out what to do with it.

That's amazing!

It will definitely stand out!

Hi. First of all, congratulations on your new spinel. I've been following this thread as well. I was thinking of a garnet at first, because it's my birthstone, but I've kind of fallen for the spinels.

Anyway, my suggestion for a setting would be one like this, except in round. I just think it is classy and can be dressy or not. This is from a an earlier post on this topic by Athenaworth. Athenaworth, if you're out there, where did this setting come from?? (Actually, the stone in this is gorgeous as well!)

Funny, I saw this stone on the website and it looked so incredibly pretty I that I could not believe it would look the same way in real life. Congratulations! I remember that one... Blazing color. And very clean, if my memory does not fail me.
