It's a rose cut marquise! I wasn't even looking for a marquise but knew I wanted a rose cut. This one just happend to sing to my heart.

Okay, so here are the specs, although I still need to have this diamond graded:

3.78 rose cut marquise, although it is mounted flat side up. Which I thought was weird, but I like the ring so much I am unsure if I will remount it facet side up.
19.6 x 9.2 mm
Original platinum setting dates around 1880's to 1910's.
Color is L
Clarity is Si1

marquis were not my fav's but these old cuts...to die for! they are so rare too! awesome stone and setting! also love the ones set E/W!

This is the beautiful ring I was given. He used my mother's diamond without me knowing and went to great lengths to throw me off the scent!

Oh goodness that is perfection!! I don't think I've seen a marquise with trilliant side stones, but it makes perfect sense.

Jimmianne, this is gorgeous!! What are the stats? You want to reset this? It's fabulous NOW. Great finger coverage. Nice and chubby marquise.

Wow - I forgot that I posted here and came to the thread to look for ideas LOL.
Perhaps I will find out if it's possible to size down an 8 to a 5.75. Then at least I could wear it around a bit more.

OHHH, it is a looker for sure. Any chance you could wear it on a middle finger?

Perhaps it can be sized close to fitting your ring finger (safely to a 6.5)--and you could have the shank built up so it fits better. Some people like those sizing beads....

it is full of sparkle, even indoors. I almost drove off the road admiring it yesterday. Absolutely adore it, so impressed that my hubby remembered my love for EW Marquise and stalked my pinterest page to find my setting preference. I adore the Kwiat EW setting and the Fay Cullen EW setting and as he's more of a classic kinda guy, he chose the Kwiat. A local jeweler helped him choose a diamond and designed the setting.

This beauty will be done in a couple weeks. It's being made by 5th Avenue Designs in Cherry Creek Denver. I got a sneak peek yesterday when I went in to check the fit. Ended up being a little too small and it's also missing the engraving I'm wanting done. It'll be a RHR, I'll make my own thread for it once it's complete. So excited for it to be done!

I am so jealous! I sent my mom photos of it showing what mine may look like and she said, "are you sure your boyfriend didn't have it made by that jeweler and it's actually yours?" I saw it on David Klass's Facebook. Please wear it in good health. It's really nice because your center stone is close in size to mine (I think I have a .75-.83 center) and the inspiration ring was 1.1 carats.
