While I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new sapphire ring, I spent lots of time searching PS looking at everyone else's. I think it would be awesome to have them in one thread! I'll start, here are mine. My 5.89 ct unheated color shifting sapphire in a halo (avatar pic), 3.2 ct heated blue with baguettes, and my 6.47 ct light blue ballerina.

Let's see yours! 20220922_164511.jpg20220803_211707.jpg

Another one - a purple sapphire, sold as spinel and labelled as from Badakhshan, but it looks like material from the Hunza Valley in Pakistan:

How lovely! Is the host rock pegmatite, limestone, or marble, @Nick_G? It's clearly not basalt. The other day, it occurred to me that I didn't know what mineral colored purple sapphire. I sort of assumed it was a variation of the trace elements which color blue sapphire (titanium and iron). But it's actually vanadium. Isn't that wild? Vanadium makes beryl green, but corundum purple. :)

Ooh, I’ll play. Here are mine:

My .89 heated blue Ceylon sapphire from Finewater. I love how it sparkles and I adore that specific shade of blue. The setting is the Nur from Sally Heart Of Water and it's in 21k Thai gold.PXL_20220823_173634260.PORTRAIT.jpg

The only other sapphires I own are these adorable blue Sapphire (heated) leverbacks. Yvonne Raley sourced the sapphires for me. They are sparkly and I love the color. The setting is from Whiteflash.PXL_20220930_163022989.jpg

Hi there. Yes that specimen is in marble. It has chromium in it as it fluoresces with my LWUV torch, but I expect there is just the tiniest bit of iron+titanium adding blue to the pink to make it purple. The iron/titanium chromophore is a lot stronger than chromium, so there's enough to shift the colour to purple without dampening the chromium fluorescence too much.

Sapphires coloured mainly by vanadium are very rare and are colour changing from green to reddish, like alexandrite. AFAIK they are only found in Mogok and an alluvial deposit in Tanzania.

Mine.
The blue sapphire out of a ring that I then set the white sapphire. The diamond mount was originally for one of the 9mm round blue sapphires but I listened to advice and kept them as a pair.
The white sapphire from the gem haul recycled into the other setting.
The vivid pink sapphire from the gem haul in a pre loved setting from Ivy and Rose
One of the purple sapphires from the gem haul into a pre loved setting from a fellow PSer.
The yellow and blue trilogy sapphire ring and the opalescent purple pink sapphire.B483213F-F74A-4638-A8EF-BD706CACA188.jpeg

I have a few, all from my Grand Mother. My avatar that I had reset in a new custom setting, an oval sapphire,7 carats set in 18kt gold and silver with diamonds, a small oval set- in platinum with diamonds either Edwardian or Art Deco, an 18 kt.20221001_194440.jpg eternity band, and a small sapphire set in 18kt gold with enamel, pearls and diamonds. These are what I have in ring form. I only wear the avatar and the oval 18kt.The others sit in our safe. I will pass them on to my daughters and Grand Daughters. The small sapphire in platinum is smaller than what I love on my hand. The eternity band is very large in diameter and too big for me to wear. The enamel ring is just not my cup of tea. 20221001_202126.jpg20221001_202241.jpg20221001_202303.jpg20221001_202442.jpg20221001_202450.jpg20221001_193933 (1).jpg

As @Daisys and Diamonds says, grandmothers' rings are the best! I love the ?Victorian ring with pearls, gold and blue enamel.

You have really beautiful sapphires. I think the pinkish purple one is so gorgeous and so very different from most sapphires you see. It glows in a way. Such a nice collection!
