Show your Star sapphires and rubies

Wow. Can you tell me more about the the white/yellow(ish) star sapphire?
The transluscent one has a subtle tinge of blue but the opaque doesn't have yellow. It's pure white like bone. A seller kept it for several years before deciding to sell it. :) It is untreated Burmese. I've never seen a star so white until I got it.

The super opaque white and the super transluscent white. Both Burmese.

I placed the translucent white beside an icy jade disc.

So beautiful Seaglow!! That ice jade pendant is breaking my heart because it is so gorgeous! Thats A dream pendant. I love the setting too.

That transparency is so rare. Small, but rare. I want to visit that jade factory soon! Need shopping therapy! :)

Y'all are killing me with the jade! What I would do to visit a jade factory for some retail therapy lol! I just hate being about as far away from jade as one can get.

It's deep, good dome. 5.65 carats. :) it would be fun to visit the factory with you!

Here's an icy jade bracelet I looked at. Quite pricey so I didn't buy it. It was taken from the same boulder, thus the excellent match.

Also saw this jade sushi plate with lavender chopsticks. Lol. You'd go crazy at the factory. Lol.

After viewing Seaglow's latest jade finds, I took out my jade stuff and have on a pair of earrings and 2 rings to wear to sleep tonight!

I've got on jade bangles, but I NEED a piece of icy jade!

I no longer on my shitty work monitor. I am in love with the white sapphire! More pictures!

You have discerning eyes because bone color will have a slight creamy color normally. So I checked the stone in different lights, super white on some and a creamy appearance on some.

The white in direct sunlight and on top of cotton in indirect sunlight for color reference.

I have no idea yet. Maybe I set it with a very black star. :)

That would be very wonderful!

Yes!

Browsing star rubies and found these gorgeous rings! Pics just for fun. I'd love to find just one more star ring, either in lavender, pink and white splotch pattern or a star ruby someday.

So I have been thinking about this (yes, it is weird I have been thinking about your white start sapphire) are you able to get another white sapphire like that? It would be amazing to have a pair of earrings that had a black star sapphire as a drop on one side with the white star on top and then the reverse on the other earring.

I'm afraid it would be difficult to get another one. It's one of those rarities. Your idea sounds fantastic though!

@Seaglow I could be caught with a black & a white pearl - one in each ear; such a classic prank, nobody took it for a prank. I'd wear those with a suit at a black tie dinner... [excuse: I hadn't worn a dress for too many years to feel dressed in one ... o_O ]

The stone is one of the Pricescope Greats in my book ! I imagine that sapphires with that much silk always end up heated - star or no star...

Story of a Montana white sapphire: www (what are the odds of reading of white sapphire, in the same day as writing of them !)

Rather enjoying Jeffrey Hapeman's accounts of interesting rough; rare literature !

Agnes Moorehead had one heck of a clue star sapphire. I am about 95% sure it was her wedding ring from her fist marriage. It ended in the mid 1950's.

This is not her ring but I think it looks a good deal like it.

So beautiful!!’ What a wonderful star. This has reignited my search for one more star ring so that I can pass one to each daughter, even if it takes years to find another one which feels right.

That is so sweet! What color are you thinking?

Thanks! My dream would be to find a pink or lavender one, or a pink and white splotch one, but I’m open to any color If its in the right combination with the starriness! It doesn’t have to be huge either. Ideally, I’d love to pass on one turquoise Zuni cuff also to each girl.

Just browsing today, here are a few pretty stars which I noticed...from more recent time periods, except for the last one, which I believe came from the 50’s. 4E07DFA0-A3E9-4F91-A7D1-B4213F664634.jpeg

Thank you Vesper. I try lol!

I found this gorgeous completely grey star sapphire yesterday. It seems so modern to me in it’s beautiful lack of color. Also, an intense small star sapphire ring with so much presence. And an interesting setting!
