Simply sapphires is having a 70% off sale for their retirement

Thank you so much! I called and talked to John this morning. He was so lovely! I was surprised that he immediately knew my order by name. He assured me that the 3 rings were mine and he had sent me an invoice for re-sizing. He was charging me the price of 2 and not charging me for the 3rd.

John told me he was surprised and filled with gratitude when he saw all the orders. I told him about @Indylady's post. That made him happy. He talked about his career and how the community of colored gem lovers have been some of the nicest, most trusting people he has encountered.

He shared that when he first started out he received 20k of Sri Lanka sapphires, sent uninsured in a brown envelope, with the supplier asking him to "sell what you can". He was moved by the trust the supplier had in him. He said he appreciated that and all the trust people have put in him through the years which is why he decided on the 70% off sale. It is his way of giving back as he sells off his inventory.

What a lovely story - thank you for sharing! And I’m so glad the rings are secured for you :)

I let everything sit in my cart all day and just sort of removed things here and there. I almost grabbed a purple sapphire ring, but it just wasn’t truly my style and I’m afraid I wouldn’t wear it so I let it go. In the end, I picked up the following.

Australian Boulder opal 5.82ct
It’s not top quality but I love the mix of greens and blues.
I’m thinking about a pendant with a bright green halo so I can really make those greens pop!

1.55 Sri Lanka blue cushion cut sapphire.
A little light, but one of my favorite shapes and a good price so it was hard to resist.

Could not resist!
Sri Lanka 4.5mm (.90tcw) blue sapphire pair.

And these lovely floral style earrings. You all know I have a thing for spinels. :D
Bright red spinels in platinum. I don’t wear post style earrings, but I’m going to send them to David Klass and see if he can modify them into small dangle / drop earrings for me.

Love your choices!

Unfortunately I can't access the site. I'd love to take a look even if i couldn't buy, oh well.

Unfortunately, I got an email from John informing me that they can’t find the sapphire I bought anywhere lol. He offered to cancel my order or he offered the choice of a couple others of similar price range but I didn’t like them as much so I cancelled my order.

I am wondering if maybe I need to pony up a little more and buy one of the larger higher quality stones that he has available. I do plan to buy a higher quality blue sapphire in the future, and the prices are absolutely bananas. I’ll give it some thought.

If I wasn’t on Ban Island……

Stunning!!!

Might be worth getting off of band island for that one.....

Watching you all slowly but surely buy all the things I was browsing is giving me a feeling, so I've been working hard to remind myself that I did not, in fact, want these pieces that badly, and just because someone else has them, that doesn't mean a thing, and that green eyed monster should really go back in its box. In an attempt to secure the process I've been playing with my stuff and

this is exactly how I felt staring at the blues I already have while mentally repeating "you have so many, you don't need any more".

Lighter blues are gentle and kind. A strong saturated blue is assertive, stands out, screams "look at me", but a lighter blue is special in a way the saturated blue can't quite achieve.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

First of all, I would be in the front row of your gemstone TED talk. The way you described light blue is perfect! “Gentle and kind” is exactly the way I would have described it. It’s like you plucked it right out of my head.

I can relate to trying not to buy all the things. I was literally trying to talk myself out of it yesterday, like “you do not need this.” Clearly, I failed. Be stronger than me!

The same happened with my order. Can't say I'm not bummed, but oh well

Which stone had you bought?

I was trolling around in his YouTube at videos and found videos of most of the gems on his website dating back to 2017. So this is old stock which explains the low starting prices and also it makes total sense why they might misplace some gems!

The locusts on this website picked the website dry already and I don’t think there will be anything else to buy instead lol

That is so beautiful and wonderful and generous. :kiss2: He sounds like such a kind man.

I’m glad all of the rings went through for you, and that he gave you an extra little discount.

I’m I hope everyone who bought something — or somethings!! — knows the rules for these kinds of situations! You must come back with many many pictures in this thread for us losers who missed out.

Lil Sis was the photographer! DH makes me took like a troll with his “photography”

You damn near made me spit my water out!

My DH does the same thing! I take my time and take beautiful pictures of him. Yet, all of his photos of me make it look like I could live under a bridge and snack on children’s toes. I swear, it gives a girl a complex!

Totally hahah. I just stick to selfies now.

Y’all I just posted a thread on a ruby and I needed advice. I don’t mean to thread Jack this thread, but most of the CS experts have weighed in on this thread, so please have a look and tell me what you think!

This is the one I got. A little dark but I already have a medium tone cornflower-y sapphire as my e-ring. I'm debating E/W pendant or a N/S ring.

I think that’s so pretty!!!! Can’t wait to see it in real life!

Just got it! It's about as classically blue as they come. This is pretty much what I imagine when I think blue sapphire. It's a little bit dark, but not inky at all. Definitely a ton of great blue flashes and a very nice cut too. I'm setting it in a ring and not a pendant, it's just too small for a pendant. I'm thinking trap or emerald cut sides. Looks like the big boy version of my engagement sapphire (though yours looks to have nicer cut and crystal). Sometimes rectangular stones were set with rounds in the olden days. Depending on the style you are after it could also work for you.

Sorry to be unclear… the pictures posted in a weird order! The three stone ring belongs to someone else here on PS. My engagement sapphire is the loose stone with the loose small diamonds. I am thinking of recreating the style of the ring with my sapphire and the small diamonds. My sapphire is not that nice a color as the ring and it’s smaller, but it’s sentimental. I was offering the image of the ring as maybe inspiration for you!

Your ering is gorgeous! This new stone is a perfect addition.

Oh that is beautiful!!!! I went from not liking blue to collecting various blues because they were interesting!

Gotcha!! I like the tone of your loose stone as well, I thought it was the loose stone after it had been set.
