Simplysplendid.....I was reading one of your threads on a particular vendor you visit in Singapore for gemstones. Would you mind sharing who the vendor is please. I need someone trust worthy. Someone who has good quality stones in stock , not the likes of M or L''s.

I know you have quite an impressive collection. Just wondering if you know anything about the gemstone market in the U.S. compared to buying gems in Singapore. I haven''t met one vendor in Singapore who can get close in terms of pricing and upgrade policy in terms of buying diamonds. Can the same be said for gemstones please.

Thankyou.....

Hi Sparkles,

The vendor I go to is Canary Diamond Co at Delphi Orchard (opposite Forum Galleria). They are located on the 1st floor and is opened only Mon-Sat from about 10-6pm. They do not open on Sundays and public holidays. You can look for Bonne and let her know Serene recommended you. If you are going down, let me know and I will ask Bonne to look out for you

(Generally they give better quotes to regulars and their recommended customers).

If they don''t have what you are looking for, just let them know and they can easily source it for you. I have seen them getting the rarest stones for their customers.

Oh, I forgot to mention that you can ask them about the upgrade policy for diamonds. For coloured gemstones, I don''t think vendors have upgrade policies though (I didn''t ask any of them but I assumed that since there is no standard pricing for gemstones and gemstone pricing is based on the colour and rarity that there woudn''t be any upgrade policy).

Thankyou for sharing your source Simplysplendid. I had a feeling from your earlier posts that you were getting your beauties from Canary. Does he do your benchwork too?

The yellow diamond is beautiful...

If you don''t mind me asking, are you a native of Singapore?

Hi Sparkles,

Yes, they do custom setting as well. I generally purchase loose gemstones or diamonds from them and get them to custom set.
And yes, I am born and bred here.

simplyspledid, seeing this thread here was fortuitous. I was about to reply to a thread, then realized it was closed and also that it was in a forum I never frequent! I am not sure how I got there, but I must have been following links from a thread in a Colored Stones thread! I wanted to tell you how lovely I thought the rings featured in that thread were (three major rings of yours were pictured along with a lot of amusing discussion). One woman had written that when her baby was born her husband hadn't gotten the canary diamond memo, alluding to your having received your latest diamond ring on the occasion of the birth of your new baby, I believe. She had said that all she got for having a baby was another baby. I was highly amused.

At any rate, as I was saying, I wanted to tell you how lovely I thought your rings were and I also wanted to wish you well in wearing all of them. Now I have the chance to do so here. Congratulations on the new baby, any other babies if you have any, and all the beautiful jewelry. Do you have three children...or just three rings? (I have more than one ring and only have one daughter!)

Hi AGBF, thank you for your kind words. I have two boys, one turned 1 about 4 weeks ago and another will turn 3 next Sat and I''ve got two push presents (the other push present is a round brilliant not on the thread your saw). My hubby was wondering whether I deserved the push presents or not given that technically, I didn''t push as I had c-sections for both deliveries. I have more than 3 rings but only 2 boys and that''s enough unless there is such a thing as a girl guarantee, otherwise this factory is now closed.

I am afraid that at the present time that a girl guarantee only applies to adoptions; I got one of those! Since I had waited so darned long for a baby, I told my husband that I wanted to adopt from a source where we could pick the sex of our baby...and we did! That was 16 years ago and our baby is a junior in high school now, but I did get my girl guarantee!

Congratulations on your two sons. I think it is fabulous that your husband wanted to give you gifts upon the occasions of their births, but doing it by C-section is the hard way! I hope he didn't for one minute doubt that you should have gotten push presents!

I look forward to seeing more of you in Colored Stones and watching your jewelry collection grow!
