JCJD, do you know where your promise ring came from? It''s really pretty?

LOL! $5 from Claire''s! The one I posted is actually my replacement p-ring for myself, since the original ($4 from Claire''s) broke a few months ago. And actually, one of the side "stones" of this one broke off a couple weeks ago too, so now I have to wear it off center. Good thing it''s not real! Hee-hee-hee! I do like it a lot though, it is really pretty, kind of a Celtic knot design, which is why I was drawn to it. The advantage of my original p-ring breaking (sim broke off) is that now my b/f has a ring he can bring to the jeweler to get my exact size without tipping me off as to when he''s actually ordering it!

I love your ring and matching band!! The details are so beautiful! I have to say, I love the way your emerald kind of jumps out at you from the delicate bands! Thanks for sharing!

Bagpuss - I remember seeing your original with the new rings in another thread. I love that you still have your original e-ring as is - I''m a sentimental chick!

JCJD, here is my ring, it''s 5/8 ct total, the center stone is 1/3 ct. i have a size 6.5 finger. my fiance got it from kay jewelers, and i''m going to change the center stone soon (i can see the inclusions, i''ve been lurking on this forum too long!!), but stay with the same size. i''m looking at a hearts and arrows stone from www.whiteflash.com, so far i''ve been really happy with their help and answering my 5 million questions!

i''m very active with my hands too, i''m a musician, so more than .5 ct seemed too big for me and would get in the way of my guitar playing.

my fiance told me i could go much bigger, but i fell in love with this setting. i looked everywhere from tiffany to online to Japanese stores to the navy exchange, and this setting was the only one that really jumped out at me, of all i tried on or saw. i tried from .25 ct to 1.5, and this one just fit. :) i mostly looked by myself, he looked with me, but after 2-3 stores, he was whining, "ANOTHER store?!?!" pretty funny! the most fun i had was with a diamond-crazy girlfriend who''s not even dating anyone, and kept joking about getting the 1 ct one "stuck" on her finger.

i like the way this setting sparkles across the whole band, not just on the center stone.

you seem to have found your perfect size, so i say go with it! what kind of settings do you like? when you find the right ring you will know, just like you knew you found the right guy.

good luck!

Also here's a picture of my mom's recently upgraded ring. She wore a .25 ct for the past 25 years, and my dad got her "an extra .25 for 25 years", so now her stone is a .5 ct, and she loves it. It's a hearts and arrows cut. :) The diamond band on the top isn't from the original set, i think it's from their 15th or so anniversary. she has a size 5.5 finger.

Thanks for sharing! I had to add in .lycos to your links (www.angelfire.lycos.com....) to get them to work, but they did in the end. I really like the way your setting looks so fluid - it kind of reminds me of creek eddies! I can''t believe you went through so many settings before you found one you liked! Your friend sounds like fun! Too bad all of the in-house rings are too big to get stuck on even my thumbs! I was trying on a 2ct solitaire at Zales, and the stupid thing was too heavy and kept swinging around my ring finger, but it did make a nice thumb ring - the sales person laughed.

Right now, I just want a platinum solitaire and a channel set 1/4 tcw wedding band, not eternity but diamonds covering the top of the ring so it looks eternity. I really like Vatche''s Royal Crown, but I like Tiffany 4 and 6 prongs as well. In a hypothetical world where money was absolutely no option and I could lounge around with my cats eating bon-bons and cleaning my diamonds all day long (without needing to exercise, of course!), I''d get a solitaire with channel set sides (1 tcw MAX!) and the channel w-band (same size stones as in e-ring). And then I''d get a Royal Asscher pendant (.75), brilliant cushion earrings (.5 each), a tennis bracelet, some Y necklaces with diamonds and sapphires, and a radiant 3-stone RHR (.5 tcw)!!!

Hee hee hee! I still think my hands just can''t handle too much bling, even if I were a kazillionaire, but my ears, wrists and neck can help in that department.

This site has corrupted me!!

thank you, i''m in love with my ring, i can''t stop staring at it! :) thanks for the info on fixing the links. :) i was having troubles, gotta be smarter than the computer, i guess! i know, this site is corrupting! i wasn''t really into diamonds at all before but now i''m addicted! i like the emerald cut ones but sooooo $$$. it''s nice to look at all the pictures on here and dream about what i''ll get when i make my first million... oh wait i''m a teacher.... lol! the solitaire and band you describe sounds like the one i was deciding between when i chose my set. :) i really like the look of the eternity band, but when the diamonds go all the way around, it felt uncomfortable when trying on, so the one''s you describe were more comfortable.

i saw your story on another thread, my engagement story is sorta similar to a bunch of people''s on here- my fiance and i met when we were seniors in hs, and got engaged after being together 6.5 years (when we were 24 at the time), last Christmas. and we''re both working on bases in japan, but different ones, so we''re not getting married until summer 2006, because one of us (probably me) has to move this summer, and i didn''t want to do a wedding and a move in the same summer. we still don''t even know where the wedding will be, since his family is in korea (retired army) and my dad is still in the air force and moving around! we met in japan so that doesn''t help us with location choosing, because most of our friends and family are in the states... but with the timeline, you can imagine how many ''why aren''t you married yet??'' questions i get, and before we were engaged i couldn''t believe how many people who didn''t even know us that well would go on and on about how they couldn''t believe we weren''t even ENGAGED yet!! grr. we''ll STILL only be 26 when we get married!! it''s nice to know i''m not alone! i''m comfortable with waiting until the time is right to be married, so why do i get that sympathetic look from people when i say that???

it''s pretty funny. :)

i am a size 4.5 and it''s not a solitare, but the center stone is .82ct and the sides are .25 ct pears.
I tried on 1 ct solitares and those looked enormous on my hand!!!
I agree that you can totally go by yourself, i did the same!! then brought my FI back to the good places I liked... :o)

I know this is really small, but here's a picture of a 0.19ct on my size 5 (not ring) finger.
