Small gap on secondhand eternity band

Exactly the sort of home surgery I would resort to.

No more self surgery, I promise! I didn't push hard, just noticed that it moved into place when I poked it in exactly the right spot. It's definitely making me rethink keeping it and certainly I'll get a real person to look at it first.

I'm waiting to hear back from Neil Lane about the possible repair. I've used a jewelry repair place in SF but don't know if there's a better option locally (this is who I've used: https://www.sanfranciscojewelryrepairs.com/). Lang is closed today but I might reach out tomorrow to see if they can take a look, given their similar ring? I'm running up against the return window which limits my options....And I've never had anything expensive that's needed repair before, I've only had a couple of basic chains shortened and lengthened, etc., so I don't really have a trusted local jeweler.

Thanks for the suggestion to see about a credit if I decide to keep it and of course for all of the advice so far! This community has always been so amazingly helpful.

Honestly I'd return. The stones shouldn't be movable like that

Plus one. I was totally on board with keeping until you mentioned you were able to move it yourself.

Giiirl too many repair horror stories into even name! Run run!

Okay, I'm getting the message! Back it goes!

I'll just remember this as a kind of ring for me to consider for the future. I learned I like French cuts, at least! And maybe lab diamonds will be mind clean for me eventually and then it would be cheaper :) I'll see if I can get TRR to waive the shipping charge because of the issue.

Thanks again for all of the advice!

Dust for a smooth return!

I’m still team keep it

+1 . If you have the time take it somewhere for a quick assessment. I just bought a frenchie band that I thought I would return bc of the setting isn't 100% but decided I could live with it for the price that I paid.

Close to Mission Bay?

What about San Carlos?

^^ and there you have the litmus test of risk jewelry aversion! :lol-2:

You mentioned labs-
Have you seen the lab cuts that are available in fc?

Does the different facet patterns that mined or lab fc come in matter to you?

The facet pattern you have (even tho not high dome as you mentioned - but less worry about damage with a full eternity) with the octagon shape table facet isn’t as readily to find as others with checkerboard or rhombus shaped table facet.
And they are f-g color, again not as easy to find as lower colored ones in earth grown.

I can’t say 5k is decent going rate for 3tcw for a full eternity suite for 7.5 ring size, I just don’t know,if one wanted to keep this band just for the stones if indeed it needed to be remade or whatever.

But pickings are slim to find apples to apples now or
at a later date.

Just depends on your fc stone preferences, again if one was possibly interested in keeping it as is, or to redo some day down the road, whether it’s a good idea to keep or return due to the ring condition.

I’m biased. I have newly cut, same as you, but they are rhombus table high domes, and H+. I’d much prefer the look of your stones to what I have. :)

Let us know what you do!

I’m curious @newtojewels - did you keep or return?

I returned it! Too much money for me personally when I was worried about it.....though I still have it in my favorites so I may reevaluate if it starts getting discounted.

In true TRR fashion, I told them there was a loose stone but it isn't listed in the condition section.
