One of my dearest friends would always take her phone out when we went to dinner, turn off the sound, and store it away. It made such an impact on me because my generation (older millennial) and younger ones rarely do this. She made me feel SO important and that she valued me. Truly the greatest gift we can give our loved one is our time + undivided attention. My dear friend passed away in March from an illness and I vowed to carry that lesson she taught me, among other, forward.

have smartphones as I worry about the later impacts. However, after the tragic Uvalde shooting, I did get my son a GABB phone. It has no internet, no apps and people can’t text pictures. It is a phone created by moms who want their kids to have a way to call them but without the other issues smartphones come with. It is also inexpensive. I find because it doesn’t have internet or game apps, he doesn’t use it much other than to sometimes call his grandparents.
