Snowmagedon 2025

Here in south central Texas, it is colder than a polar bear’s bottom!
We may get about an inch of snow , icy overpasses ( or fly overs as they are called here) and no school tomorrow . So many of the kids here don’t have the proper winter coats, boots, etc. for super cold weather.
Also, I have the same worries as @missy , when it comes to the animals. Our warming shelters will let people take their pets with them but the stray cats and dogs are on their own.

now that's a tempertaure i can relate to, compaired to silly outdated Fahrenheit
we would all die in those winters that some of your states get
yaaaaah a snow day !!!

last time i was in the snow i was in bare feet and shorts, i was waiting outside our Chinese shop for Gary to come back from the petrol station with a full gas bottle while i got tea (dinner)
it hadn't snowed in Wellington for more than 20 years
cars kept stopping trying to give me a ride home

you need to make something in the slow cooker, something soupy or stewie, something you can slurp, soup is the best part of winter ...and flannel sheets

Hi all! I’m in Mississippi now and we got 8 inches! Lost power for a bit but I’m from the DC area so I’m familiar with snow precautions. Our local area doesn’t really have plows or salting equipment so fortunately I teleworked!

that is too much for me
glad your power is back on

Thank you so much Lisa. You are so kind. We are happy to report we did see Pepsi and Fresca late this morning. And I think Dr Pepper too. But we haven't seen everyone (we have 9 feral cats) and we are praying they are all OK

they will be ok MIssy
they are from New Jersey
also they know where to go for food and water and shelter
but they must just hate the winter all the same

South Florida is quite chilly this morning. (46F and breezy here, no sun. We might hit 55F today but will hit one of our coldest evenings at 45 (maybe 44?)

I don't cover plants (they have to figure it out) but tuberose that sprouted at the end of December, wilted before it bloomed.

The grass in my front yard however is loving this and is THICK and very very green. Not that I have a big front yard these days! And it needs to be cut (not gonna, waiting for a warmer day)

Did you move?? Sorry for these conditions--it is tough when not prepared. We are prepared for this weather (I live in the Canadian Rockies) but I hate it anyway! Cute snow creatures!!!!

We did! I had a move for work so things have been busy and I haven’t been posting as much :) the snow all melted within about 2-3 days as the temps don’t stay too low here! Everything is back to normal but it was fun and chilly while it lasted!

@Austina, That’s crazy! Were the neighborhood kids excited?

@autumngems, That’s a lot of snow. Do they even have salt and snow plows for the roads? All it takes is the roads to get slick with a little snow and all heck breaks loose if people don’t know how to drive in snow. Please stay safe.

They have salt but only a few plows, we were off work from 1:00 Tues and just came back today.

I’m glad they let you off work @autumngems. It’s not worth the risk of getting in an accident. I hope you were able to do something you enjoy at home.

We made snow angels and snow cream and took our UTV out for fun

Snow can be so much fun that is true. I really enjoyed a good snowstorm when I was younger.
Sledding, snowball fights, ice skating, cross country skiing, Being off work or school.
Freedom from your daily routine because enough snow makes all obligations slow down or stop.
And it can be breathtakingly beautiful

Southern Oregon is under a storm watch beginning tonight. One to 4 inches of snow expected overnight with more coming for the next week. I stocked up on groceries today befoe my hibernation gene activates and makes it impossible for me to leave the comfort of my warm fluffy blankie.

I don't know what this "snow" stuff is, but we might get rain! I think we've had a total of half an inch this season. :cry2:

Love the little thorncicles on the Agave before it got buried in snow.

Thats not normal right? snow I mean?

HI:

Vancouver is getting hammered. They have more snow than we do! I feel sorry for my family there--they are just not accustomed to the white stuff.

cheers--Sharon

Every other year or so we get enough to hang around for a day, like 2 inches. What we're seeing now is very unusual. The storm is right over us and it's been snowing non stop for 5 hrs. Haven't gone out to measure but it looks as though it's over 6 inches and still coming down strong.

We have 12 inches and counting, near white out conditions for the past 2 hrs. Town is mostly shut down because we have very little in the way of snow removal equipment. The kids are the only ones loving this at this point; no school for them and lots of shoveling and deicing for the adults. Forecast is for mixed rain and snow starting tomorrow with sunny days returning on Friday. Evening temps will be 18-22 degrees so all this stuff will be freezing at night making the mornings a nightmare. Fingers crossed we don't lose power.

Wow. 12". That would shut our town down too I think. Hopefully the rain then the sun will clear it out. Fingers crossed you do not lose power
