So I have heard so much about the Tiffany shared prong I decided to try it on today. Love the ring. Loved the low profile and elegant setting. I have been searching all over and I can't seem to find something close to it.

Three questions.

Which pointer size looks best with my existing bands?

If I don't go with Tiffany is the BGD Dream band the closest I am going to get to the low profile and elegance of the Tiffany shared prong?

Did you love the Tiffany but then get something else? What did you settle on?

Ooh, they are all so pretty!! If I had to pick, I'd go with the 8 pointers. It's a nice, balanced look.

Do you still have your K solitaire from WF?

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

I like the first and third option.

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

I like #2...

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

I like the second and third.

I wanted #3 originally but I felt like the bigger stones were too big with my setting at the time ( Vatch Royal Crown).

I eventually got a 5 stone from BGD anyway.

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

#1 looks best to me with your 2 non-matchy bands.

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

By the way, have you tried IDJ for a quote for a low-set shared prong? The Tiffany is a beautiful option, but if you're looking to save money, they will be cheaper.

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

I like the 8 pointers the best.

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

I think I like #1 and #2, in that order. But they all look reasonably balanced with your bands. My eye prefers stackers that are of a similar height profile, though.

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

Thank you ladies for the input. I kind of wish I didn't walk in but now I know for sure I want a low profile one. I liked the middle one best but also really liked the first one too.

I have been emailing with BGD and they said the dream is the lowest profile of their shared prongs. It's this ring http://m.briangavindiamonds.com/wedding-and-anniversary-bands/eternity-bands/dream-half-eternity-18k-white-gold-5392w18
1.8 in height for 5 pointers. I did get a quote for a half band in 8 pointers but it brings the band to 2.0-2.1 in profile height. It would be 10x.08 for approx $1000 more. Tiffanys was 7x.08 for $5100. The SA could not tell me what the profile height was in the store though. If any of you have this ring I would love to know the exact profile height if you know.

Bgd said they make a version of this band. But when I looked it was 10 pointers with .10 pointers and the height is 2.4. Too tall but I can ask about the height for an .08 and .05. What do you think of this band? http://m.briangavindiamonds.com/wedding-and-anniversary-bands/eternity-bands/open-basket-full-eternity-18k-white-gold-5405w18

I have emailed IDJ before walking into Tiffany and they responded that the lowest setting was their u prong. I don't love that style band. The pictures of the stones were lovely but the prongs are not for me. I have asked about height difference but haven't gotten an exact answer. I am getting that they can set it as Low as the diamond allows. The band prices were the least expensive. Almost a quarter of the price of tiffany but I won't love it of the setting isn't quite right.

I'm not worried about having an open basket like tiffany but more interested in the low profile and elegance of the band. The elegance of the prongs etc.

Any opinions?

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

I am in a similar dilemma. I am looking to get a 7 stone shared prong wedding band (7/8 or 10 pointers) from IDJ or WF (they are the cheapest I've found so far).

I have searched high and low for profile shots of both bands, but have found more IDJ pictures so far. The IDJ band looks extremely low from the profile, the WF stock band looks a lot higher (they told me it's between 2.8-3 mm height wise). However, I'm in the process of asking WF whether the band can be made lower since I recently found a thread of someone who had one custom made to be lower (I think).

Here's a link to an IDJ band with 7 pointers:

Here's a link to a WF band with 8 pointers (custom ordered):

Hope that helps!

Not sure if i'm too late on this, and I think they all work well on your finger, but my slight pref is pic #2 then #1 if I must choose :)

Me too. The third option doesn't seem to play as nicely with your other bands. :wink2:

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

Thank you... It isn't too late! Still looking over all my options. Part of me says its between the smallest Tiffany (based on affordability) and the Dream band .05 and .08 pointers. You can see in the small pic there are 9 of those .03 and that you could fit two more and not see the metal but also not have diamonds between the fingers. I feel like moving up to .05s would give a little more sparkle and no metal showing with 11 stones.

Wish this were simpler.

Thanks for the info and links. Why are you choosing a 7 stone shared prong? When I contacted IDJ they did not give me that basket option. They said that the Uternity was the option. Did you talk/email with them?

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

With those bands, I really like the second one. It's hard to beat a Tiffany band and I'll warn you (from experience) - once you've had it on your hand it's hard to find a substitute! It looks beautiful! If you love it and you can swing it, go for it!

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

I like #2. What's your ring size? Have you considered getting a pre-loved one on eBay?

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

I like the 8-pointers as well, especially for wearing with other rings, very classic - love it!

Yes that band is perfection. I totally understand. That's how I needed up with the Trinity instead of a version of it. I just had to try it out in Cartier and Bam!

Just not sure I can swing the .56 one.

I am totally open to this just have no experience with it. Meaning how do I know I am getting the authentic ring. Totally open to buying preloved for sure. I'm a true size 5.75 and probably would want that since it is a half band. I usually buy a size 6 in my stackers.

My big fear is I buy the size 6 ring off ebay then go to tiffany to size and they tell me it's a fake.

Tiffany told me I would be purchasing a 6 for them to size down to a 5.75. Not the other way around. I thought that was interesting.

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

I only inquired about the low set shared prong band. This seems to be the most popular diamond band (7, 9 stone and eternity) from IDJ. I just prefer the profile of this band over the uternity, so I didn't ask about a 7 stone option in that band. I have also come across posts where people have said the uternity is not as comfortable.

I am most likely going to go with 10 pointers and since my ring size is 4.5, 7 diamonds will span across my finger completely. I don't mind my rings spinning and prefer not to have diamonds on the inside (which is why I'm not going with an eternity).

I can't wait to see what you end up picking! :)

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

Buy from a seller that has many positive feedbacks and a good return policy. Take the ring to your local Tiffany's right after yor receive it. A 6 is a popular size, so it shouldn't be too hard to find on eBay. Good luck!

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

Number 2 followed by number 1.

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

It depends..... #1. To my eye, it sits better. It has a cleaner look. But then DSS may hit???

If u want the band to stand out more, then #2.

#3 may be a bit big for the overall look for me.

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

For some reason I liked #1 it looked balanced with the other rings. I couldn't believe they were 0.03! However, I also love the look of a large eternity. So #1 if to wear with the other bands, or #3 if to be worn alone. Very pretty

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

I have never seen any rings that were as good as the Tiffany bands in terms of elegance and height. The closest I found was Memoire, but they are expensive as well. I would absolutely buy the band on ebay. Those are on there all the time. I only would buy my size. I would not buy one planning to resize. As someone already said, you buy from sellers with a lot of great feedback. The sterling pieces are the ones faked the most. I have bought several great designer pieces on ebay with no problems.

As far as which one, if you are wanting stackers, then they should all be the same height. But if you are trying to create a stand-alone band look, then I'd get one that is larger than the side bands and sits higher like the second or third. I can find a reason to have all three! I like #1 or #2 to wear with an e-ring, but #2 or 3 is best for a stand-alone band or with side bands, in my opinion.

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

#1 looks the best on your hand with your other rings.

Re: So I went to Tiffany & tried famous shared prong. Which

I like the .8!
