Hey guys,

I think I'm 90% sold on a Solasfera, fiance loves carrying a flashlight on her finger.

I asked the vendor for idealscope images because the last diamond I bought online was somewhat dim and looked like there were leakages under the table.

So I got the images, the vendor even provided a few H&A viewer images.

My question is...I know Solasfera is by no means a traditional round...but is it "normal" to have 1. the ends of the arrows so blurred under lightscope, and 2. the center ring looking so black(leakage!)?

The ideal-scope images use backlighting so leakage would show up as white. The black is obstruction, which creates contrast.

There's more obstruction than I'd expect to see in a standardized ideal-scope environment, but the photographer may have placed the lens too close. I only say that because I'm familiar with the brand, and it usually would not appear that way, but there is no way to know for certain. I would also note that either the diamond suffers from poor cutting precision or it's quite tilted toward 6:00 in the ideal-scope images.

Similar comment on the "arrows" view: Either some cutting inconsistencies are present, or it's either slightly tilted towards 1:30, causing the pavilion mains to have different lengths - top to bottom - and bezel reflections to distort. The "hearts" view shows the least distortion, possibly because the diamond rests on its table.

It's nice that the seller is providing these images, but they don't show terrific performance or cutting consistency as-is. In the seller's defense, taking this kind of photo is extremely difficult.

Thanks for the reply John. What about the not-so-red portion in the center (looks pinkish). Any concern there?

I wasn't aware of a bad Solasfera since it's a branded cut and they are supposed to be cut uniformly, just really worried I might be buying the first one.

You're welcome.

RE the lighter area: If the diamond is tilted the facet angles on that side also change potentially causing leakage.

In my experience they have been consistent, but these images are not decisive one way or the other.
