I bought this diamond during my search for a matched pair of OECs. It is much more cushiony than I was expecting! I am selling it to pursue other projects.

CUT

The stone weighs 0.61ct and is 5.3 x 5.4mm according to my jeweler’s calipers. The cut on this diamond is frankly amazing. It was bezeled when I got it and it blew me away – great edge to edge brightness, fantastic chunky scintillation, great fire, pastels galore. I gushed to my friends that this stone has a cut I would love to recreate en masse, it is just that special. Best of all, no leakage and no obstruction visible to the naked eye, something so rare in true old cuts! The crown on this stone is very low for an old cut, much lower than a modern RB even, giving it a great spread for its weight. But the proportions work splendidly. This stone is a great performer and would make a killer pendant or ring.

COLOR

I compared this diamond to my GIA graded J and EGL graded I OECs and the color is comparable both face up and from the side. It faces up "white".

CLARITY

The diamond is completely eye clean and I cannot find anything with my 10x loupe. There is an area of slight abrasion on the girdle that you cannot see with the naked eye.

PRICING

Comparables are about $1400+ on OWD depending on the color and clarity.
I am asking $799, including shipping and insurance.

Sale is final, be sure to ask all questions before you buy! I have bought and sold a number of items on the Bistro. References available to serious buyers upon request.

That is just stunning!

It's pretty Dreamer! Did you measure the depth? It might be of interest to others to see a profile shot to see how low that crown is.

Oh yes! It is 3.3mm deep, which is about 60% depth. Not too shallow by any means, but the crown is so flat it is very odd. It has a lot of depth in the pavilion, a shallow crown, and a super super tiny table, I think sub 40%. This is a stone I would love to see a sarin for, because its optics are so fabu but it is such an unusual combination of angles. I was tempted to keep it just because I have never seen a cut exactly like this. But I am keeping focussed. Such as it were :cheeky: I spotted something local that I don't think I will be able to resist. I am negotiating with the seller right now. Fingers crossed!

That really is interesting! I think it would look great in a pendant, where one doesn't really see the crown in wear.

btw, looking forward to see what it is you can't resist!

The crown is higher than that photo makes it appear. I would guess somewhere in the 10% - 12% range. A typical RB is in the 14-15% range and an OEC in the 15%+ range. I would happily wear it in a ring so I could see the faceting!

Doh, I didn't mean it wouldn't look good in a ring, but was thinking for myself...hm, that would look lovely bezeled in a pendant where I would love the flatness of the crown all sleek and elegant from the side view.

Sorry, was being engrossed in my own wants... ::)

Gorgeous diamond. I love the pastels it's throwing off in the picture. If only my funds weren't tied up elsewhere...

Re: 0.60ct Cushiony OEC with Spectacular Cut

That is a beautiful stone and you take the most amazing photos Dreamer.

Oh! haha... put that way I think you are totally right it would look amazing in a bezel pendant. A nice chunky bezel with wheat engraving to emphasize its chunkiness

IHY this stone is really good at reflecting environmental colors. It has been my experience that most diamonds will appear pastel when pastels are in the enrivonment, but you can see it so much more when the facets are so large!

BI Thanks, I love taking photos of loose diamonds. Maybe that is why I have so many. Yes, THAT is the reason. Not any sort of mental issue.
