Hi everyone,

Dani had seen my listing on ebay for this diamond and suggested that I post here as well. Thank you, Dani. Some of you may remember when I bought this and that I was going to have it set in custom rose gold setting. Well the jeweler never did finish the setting. LOL..which in the end worked out okay because my husband lost his job and we fell behind on a few things...including our mortgage so I'm selling her. It's a gorgeous stone with a beautiful facet pattern. I'm selling it for $3,500 with a little wiggle room so please feel free to contact me if you're interested.

Second, I'll try my best to answer your questions.

@Smokey 99 - The light return on antique diamonds is not measured or rated in the same way as modern cut diamonds that I'm aware of. I can tell you it shoots off chunky flashes of color all the time; however, it was hand-cut around 1910 so it won't have the same light return as a round brilliant cut to today's standards by machine. Antique diamonds have a charm and "brilliance" that is unique to the time period in which they were cut. If anyone out there has a better way to explain, please feel free to post.

@GlamMosher - I'll have to research the cost and details of shipping it to Australia before I can give you an answer one way or the other. I will post again tomorrow with an answer.

Very pretty old stone. I really like it. Hope someone on here buys it so I can keep seeing it and see it set!

Unicorn, in addition to it being an old cut, it's also a cushion. Light return for cushions is very different than for RB's (AVC's excepted as they many do get ideal light return and are cut for it). If someone is concerned about light return the best way for them to evaluate a stone from a private buyer is to buy it and have it sent to a good independent appraiser with an ASET.

But I agree that the charm of these stones is not in how 'ideal' their performance is but rather in their personalities and faceting. Obviously a bright stone is important, as you wouldn't want a dark stone. But if performance is your goal, a true antique is not the right stone for you.

I want to thank you all for being so kind and responding, and I want to apologize for the delay in responding back. Under normal circumstances, I try to reply immediately, but our internet was down for about 3 weeks and wasn't able to do much of anything since we're locked out of sites like this at work and school.
