Can anyone point their thoughts and any negatives about this blue sapphire or the price listed by The Natural Sapphire Company? I am looking for a really good round blue sapphire although it doesn't have to be anywhere near perfect. Are the prices at this vendor somewhat competitive? Is the depth somewhat shallow? From reading the forum, it seems this vendor has received favorable comments. I have no idea how to post the pictures here. The gemstone looks good to me but only the in-house certificate and specifications are available:

Item ID: B612 Description :

The NSC''s prices are not "competitive," no..unless the competition is Cherrypicked, in which case you are looking in about the same ballpark (although Cherrypicked labels the origin of their stones and charges accordingly).

However, it is a difficult product to find and you are paying for this plus excellent service and trust.

I almost went with this company but cherrypicked ended up having a nicer stone for me.

As for the round:

I have no trust in the color presented by pictures. If you want to know the color, email Micheal or better get the stone sent out.

The cut looks decent; I am not a huge fan of the little rectangular reflections but I think this is just a personal preferance (cut people chime in?)

Keep in mind rounds tend to be priced at a slight premium.

Do I have the right link? ... I don't see rectangular reflections, unless it the the glare on the star facets in the first picture (a quirk of photography).

The turf of natural Sapphire Comp are... natural (i.e. untreated) sapphires. This is heated, so I assume that is not a problem for you. So... there could be other pinks to be found. The nice thing about this one aside the color is the slightly spready cut that adds a bit to the size but caused only a small window. Since this isn't huge chances are other pieces with comparable color could be found. Whether they'd be allot cheaper - no idea.

As far as I can tell (=not very far) the round shape limits options the most. E.g... 1.2cts 'magenta' sapphire down this page - not a whole lot larger, but with no window and probably fine color too.

My 0.2, as usual.

It has to be the wrong link.

yep, wrong link. The link takes you to the site but you have to search for the product number, you are just seeing the first pink round.

Here're pictures of B612:

ETA: By the way, what does TIA mean?

(I must have been posting the pic in the same time as you, Widget. Thanks! )

This makes more sense... Wow! I don't know allot of places listing comparable things online by the dozen... and those around here don't count.

I'd bet others do, though

The story of a gorgeous sapphire bought some time ago by 'Mayacamas' come up again recently. You could try what she did, if it sounds good. Here it is

''Guess this one was discounted for the deeper cut, only the discount might have gotten too deep - all in all, the stone turns out with better clarity, and about the same size for about the same price.

last... promis.

If ''strong'' blue looks anything like those pictures, it begs the questoon what on Earth ''Intense'' means for these guys

There isn''t any with the respective label in the price and size range, but there is a ring... set with this:

J136_1_1_th

The description goes:

Weight (ct) : 1.69
Color : Blue
Dimensions (mm) : 6.91x6.46x4.14 <-------- a bit smaller but not by a mile
Origin : Ceylon
Treatments : No Enhancement
Shape : Cushion
Cut : Brilliant
Color Intensity : Vivid <-------- this was the point
Clarity : Perfection (IF, VVS1)

The remaining question... well, how about the ring? Is this anything you might have liked? Or, could they sell just the stone?
The whole thing comes at $3800, so the sapphire couldn''t have been allot more then 3k, IMO.

Hope all this didn''t turn annoying. A wonderful blue sapphire makes great conversation - maybe too good

Best of luck !
