now being really tall in the mrror

Ugly pic, but shows flush fit. I need to replace the stones in the band, but not for a while.

Just one more of the cathedral flush fit.

Kelli - Wowza! That is really tall! I would have destroyed it by now, LOL! I love the flush fit though!

Hmmmm..... Thank you for posting the pictures! I really appreciate it! So - are they swapping out the head on your ring? Are you getting a new setting? What's the scoop for you?

I found this on Adwar. Love the head, hate the way the band thickens right at the middle. Think, think, think...

Looks like mine might be the solstice too, not sure. But I think maybe the jeweler stuck it in a 2 ct head or something. Mine WAS a 1.44, but I''m expecting it to come back around a 1.39. I don''t think I want to change the whole setting, because the band fits perfectly with my 1 year dating anniversary ring, which will BECOME my wedding ring, on the day my fiance and I will have been together for TEN YEARS! So I''m kind of attached to it, I''m just hoping they can change the head to lower it a little. Lesley/Vera said we shouldn''t look into that until after the recut is finished, so I don''t know just yet.

I like that adwar one you found too!

Dani, I''m SO glad you got your money back! (Part at least.) This is a fun thread, I hope you find something. I''m about to go to lunch, but I''ll take a peek around my links for you when I return :)

Awww on the 10 years! Yay!

That''s awesome! I''m digging the adwar too.

Mostly. So maybe this thread will help you out too! That would rock!

Monkeypie - We got a FULL refund, minus the settings. Even got refunded for the gold I traded in. So really, all I''m out is the original head on my solitaire. Which makes it kinda hard to wear my diamond, but I can deal for a month or two.

Thanks Dani! Anyone know what the "buttercup head" from WF looks like? I remember seeing something like that and liking it, but I don''t remember what it looked like.

I *think* It's actually the Solstice. Here's one from the WF site. I think that the size of the head impacts how it looks visually.

... And here's jcrows (hope you don't mind!), which is also in the collage I did.

LadyLuvsLuxury''s... which may have been the originator for the pave set I posted a minute ago.

And this is Patty''s Medium Solstice, rather than the low: (Thanks to everyone who''s pictures I borrowed!!)

Didn''t attach! Oh, I think this was Katiedid''s picture too (before I photoshopped), hope you don''t mind!
Hmmm. I was thinking about asking if they could put a 6 prong head on the legato. I LOVE the way it looks from the top with the taper...

Question - how high is your band shimmer? Does it snuggle under there? Would it smack a 6 prong?

ETA: I need an emotie of banging my head against my desk, LOL.

Man, I wish I liked 4 prongs! I ADORE the legato from the side. The top just... meh. It''s beautiful, but not me.
The band is 1.8mm tall and fits right under next to the ''donut''. It does not hit the prongs, I think if you had the donut it would be fine with 6 prongs. Here is a profile shot.

Hey Shimmer- you totally don't have to answer this, and I know it will be a bit different for me I'm sure, but how much was your band? Just trying to get a ballpark idea. Jamie is going to get with me next week about the band, but since I'm now in a bit more of a hurry, I'm trying to come up witha budget.
No problem! It was $1050, in 18k white gold.

ETA: that last pic was horrible!

Thanks lovey! The pic was fine, silly! LOL! So they sit pretty flush eh? Hmmmmm. I think I''m going to have to hold off on the band for a bit. Maybe for Christmas. We''ll see....... Cross your fingers for me!

I went to a store on lunch. I discovered that:

* I like Cathedrals, but only with 4 prongs. Not sure why. Maybe it gets too busy for me on the sides with the 6? No clue. It''s pretty though!

* I need to see a .75 in a 6 prong side by side with a 4 before I''m going to be able to decide, LOL!

Tomorrow''s project....

Shimmer: I so have your thread on your set bookmarked, LOL! I keep staaaaaring at it. I showed DH - he wanted me to tell you you have nice nails, LOL!

Haha, thank you!

Would rotating the six prong head help with the flush fit? Having the prongs at 1:00, 3:00, 5:00, 7:00, 9:00, 11:00 instead of the typical 12:00, 2:00, 4:00, 6:00, 8:00, 10:00

I apologize in advance if I confuse you more... but here are my thoughts. I am an absolute stickler about prongs. I feel if they are too big or too many........they will hide the beauty of the stone. I can''t stand the "mickey mouse" ear style prongs. I know you may be dead set on 6 prongs........but I would seriously consider 4 prongs for a .75 carat stone. Here are some lovely 4 prongs settings that sit flush with the setting and these settings are under the $1000 range! WOOHOO! What I love about these settings is that they don''t look "pieced" together like a peg head style often does. I love that these rings look like they are one whole piece making them look like a custom piece without the custom price.

If you feel in your heart that you absolutely love the 6 prong style.... My vote is for the "swan" type setting. I think that is absolutely gorgeous and the prongs don''t look like they would over power the diamond. I have no doubt that WF could put that ring together within budget..even if it isn''t there design. They may have to change an element or two about it so that they don''t infringe upon copyrights.

Flush fit... I know you don''t want diamonds...but maybe you will change your mind...

My niece just got engaged and I referred her fiance to WF........ he chose the "sleek" design....

Her diamond is a GIA 1.01 ct triple EX diamond.... I took a ton of pics....

Do you think my niece thinks her Aunt is obsessed??

I used my daughters head to rest my hand on while I took the pic...

Profile... I love the way the band "swoops up" to meet the diamond.

I actually tried on a ring today that had that configuration and really liked it! It''s on the top of the list of possibilities right now. I also discovered that a slight gap doesn''t bug me as much as it did when I got my first set. Thanks for the suggestion!

Cushioncutnut - thank you for taking the time to post all of those! I tried on a TON of settings today with my mom and reaffirmed that I really don't like 4 prongs on round stones. It just squares up the diamond too much for me.

I DID try on a Scott Kay with double prongs at the 4 corners, and liked that a LOT. I think it softened the impact and the "square" effect of the 4 prong. The W prong might be an option, of they can slim down the band for me and make the prongs a wee bit more subtle.

I tried on the Tiffany Jazz and fell head over heels in love with it. I am 100% certain that that is the band I want. Well, that's the inspiration anyway. I'm going to have WF make me a 1/2 eternity.

I'm seriously considering having them make the band and send it to me, and then wearing it around and trying on a bunch of styles with the band. Hmmmm.

ETA: I do truly adore the legato head from the side.

Just not the top, LOL. And I loved your human tripod...

Thanks for posting those buttercup pictures! They look so much nicer than the prongs I had, maybe mine were not solstice?? I really like that W prong look. Actually ALL the rings that were posted in here are really beautiful. Good luck choosing! I think I will just ask whiteflash to lower mine with WHATEVER prongs THEY think look best. I am not much for making good decisions
7.gif
and I''d probably trust them over myself.

P.S. Ladyluvsluxury''s set is unbelievably beautiful! Makes me want some yummy yellow gold!

Aw. I think you made a great decision in sending your diamond to be recut! It looks like your original setting that you posted has the typical 6 prong, not a solstice (mine was the same way). Do you like 4 or 6 prongs?

I just LOVE my stuller solstice head...I''m sure the finished product will be very eyecatching!
I keep ogling your ring too, LOL! So gorgeous!!! So you think it will be okay for a .75? I''m trying not to overpower the poor thing, LOL.

Did you use the low or the medium head?
Medium height head

Awesome. Thanks!

Lord in heaven. I''ve tried on a ton of crappy mall settings and I am not more annoyed and confused then ever. Meh. And none of the nicer jewelers around here were open yesterday or today because of the holiday. And I''m going to be in Canada next weekend, LOL. Can''t win! LOL!
