Looks like mine might be the solstice too, not sure. But I think maybe the jeweler stuck it in a 2 ct head or something. Mine WAS a 1.44, but I''m expecting it to come back around a 1.39. I don''t think I want to change the whole setting, because the band fits perfectly with my 1 year dating anniversary ring, which will BECOME my wedding ring, on the day my fiance and I will have been together for TEN YEARS! So I''m kind of attached to it, I''m just hoping they can change the head to lower it a little. Lesley/Vera said we shouldn''t look into that until after the recut is finished, so I don''t know just yet.
I like that adwar one you found too!
The band is 1.8mm tall and fits right under next to the ''donut''. It does not hit the prongs, I think if you had the donut it would be fine with 6 prongs. Here is a profile shot.Date: 8/29/2008 11:00:30 AM

Hmmm. I was thinking about asking if they could put a 6 prong head on the legato. I LOVE the way it looks from the top with the taper...Date: 8/29/2008 10:49:28 AM

Didn''t attach! Oh, I think this was Katiedid''s picture too (before I photoshopped), hope you don''t mind!
Question - how high is your band shimmer? Does it snuggle under there? Would it smack a 6 prong?
ETA: I need an emotie of banging my head against my desk, LOL.
Man, I wish I liked 4 prongs! I ADORE the legato from the side. The top just... meh. It''s beautiful, but not me.
No problem! It was $1050, in 18k white gold.Date: 8/29/2008 12:14:24 PM

Hey Shimmer- you totally don't have to answer this, and I know it will be a bit different for me I'm sure, but how much was your band? Just trying to get a ballpark idea. Jamie is going to get with me next week about the band, but since I'm now in a bit more of a hurry, I'm trying to come up witha budget.
Thanks lovey! The pic was fine, silly! LOL! So they sit pretty flush eh? Hmmmmm. I think I''m going to have to hold off on the band for a bit. Maybe for Christmas. We''ll see....... Cross your fingers for me!Date: 8/29/2008 3:20:07 PM

Shimmer: I so have your thread on your set bookmarked, LOL! I keep staaaaaring at it. I showed DH - he wanted me to tell you you have nice nails, LOL!
I actually tried on a ring today that had that configuration and really liked it! It''s on the top of the list of possibilities right now. I also discovered that a slight gap doesn''t bug me as much as it did when I got my first set. Thanks for the suggestion!Date: 8/30/2008 11:43:38 AM

Would rotating the six prong head help with the flush fit? Having the prongs at 1:00, 3:00, 5:00, 7:00, 9:00, 11:00 instead of the typical 12:00, 2:00, 4:00, 6:00, 8:00, 10:00
Aw. I think you made a great decision in sending your diamond to be recut! It looks like your original setting that you posted has the typical 6 prong, not a solstice (mine was the same way). Do you like 4 or 6 prongs?Date: 8/30/2008 5:22:10 PM

Thanks for posting those buttercup pictures! They look so much nicer than the prongs I had, maybe mine were not solstice?? I really like that W prong look. Actually ALL the rings that were posted in here are really beautiful. Good luck choosing! I think I will just ask whiteflash to lower mine with WHATEVER prongs THEY think look best. I am not much for making good decisionsand I''d probably trust them over myself.![]()
P.S. Ladyluvsluxury''s set is unbelievably beautiful! Makes me want some yummy yellow gold!
