So a couple weeks ago I declared my undying love for Eternity Diamond's Gwen setting on this forum. I really loved the pave split shank, and their prices are very reasonable, so it seemed like the perfect choice. I decided to take a look at a few of their other settings though just to make sure I was going with the right one. I thought this would just put my mind at ease that I had finally found my setting, but now I'm lost again!!

I feel like the most indecisive person ever. Right now I'm debating between a pave split shank, a cushion shaped halo with a round center, and a solitaire. I'm surprised by the solitaire because I've been stuck on a pave setting for a while now, but something about the simple elegance of it just feels so refreshing.

Anyway I know whenever I'm looking at settings online, I always want to see hand pics, so I thought I'd share these for anyone interested. The people at Eternity Diamonds have been great. They have been very helpful and responsive. I actually asked about customizing the Gwen setting so a straight band would be able to sit flush against it, and they said they would be able to do it for a very reasonable price. I also think offering the replicas to try on is an amazing idea.

Here is a photo of the settings I'm looking at now. From left to right, I'm wearing the Ava, Lauren, Gwen, and Ester. I'll post some closer pics below. Any thoughts would be great, but I know these styles are so different it basically comes down to personal preference.

My first photo upload... I hope this works :)

Here is the Ava setting. If I go with a solitaire, I'm not sure I would chose this exact one. But it is very pretty!

The center on this one is supposed to be .80 carats, and all the other settings show a 1 ct center.

Here is the Lauren. I love this ring! It is just gorgeous.

When I showed it to my fiance though, he said he thought the halo was "tacky". *gasp* For all the halo lovers out there, please rest assured that I already fervently defended your styles to him. I guess his main point was that if we're going to spend so much money on a center stone, he wants it to get more of the attention. He also said he thought it was just like an illusion setting in trying to make a stone look bigger. I told him that was unfair. Many illusion settings cluster small diamonds together to try to appear as one larger diamond, and that's their entire purpose. On the other hand, halos are intricate and beautiful in their own right. Offering more finger coverage is not the whole point of having them.

My fiance is fully aware that I'm the one who will be wearing the ring, and he wants me to have whatever I want. But it's important to ME that he love the ring as well since it's supposed to be a symbol for both of us. I want him to love what he sees on my finger, so I probably won't end up with this one. But for anyone out there who is interested in halos, I highly recommend this setting!

The Gwen setting... I still think it's really pretty. The photos really don't do all of these rings justice.

Lastly the Ester setting. I love the finger coverage on this one, but I don't think I'll end up going with it because I want to wear a separate wedding band on the same finger. It's really pretty though, so I would really recommend it if someone is looking for a combination ering/wedding band.

I hope this helps for anyone looking at these settings!

And fyi, my ring size is 6.5

Let me know if you have any favorites! I'm so indecisive, I could use any input I can get :)

my favorite is still the split shank :)

I like the solitaire and the halo. I too share the feeling of your fiance that sometimes halos seem like a cluster ring. I love them though but wonder if they are more like a cocktail ring than an engagement ring. I find them beautiful but struggle with how it would appear to someone looking at my hand(her diamond must be small so she put tiny diamonds around it to make it look bigger). I have and love a 6 prong solitaire setting in platinum. It mixes well with different band styles.

Oh no, votes are already across the board! At least that probably means I can't really go wrong with any of them.

I think halos work as engagement rings, but I'm starting to think that I love such a variety of styles that I should just go with a solitaire ering. For sentimental reasons, I would like to keep the same setting down the road, and the solitaire is really the only style that I wouldn't wear as a RHR. So maybe I should fill my desire for a solitaire now and save some of the other styles for thinks like cocktail rings?

I really like the cushion halo and the gwen split shank. The split shank with the halo is a big much for my task, especially once you add a wedding band. solitaire is always classy. You really cna't go wrong.

I vote the split shank. It looks awesome on you

Hmm ok. Maybe my first choice was right. Just to make sure the solitaire is getting a fair shot though, this might not be the exact solitaire setting I would use. I like cathedral styles, but this shank is 2mm, and I would probably go for something a bit wider for my finger size.

My favorite is the split shank. It looks really good on your hand.

I also like the split shank the most. :))

I prefer the first two. I don't like where the split happens on either of the split shank rings. The way the split is shaped also looks like it would just gather gunk. JMHO. Good luck!

i like lauren best, with gwen coming in second. not really crazy about the other 2.

I like the Gwen best for its style, and also on your hand. It was great of you to share all the photos of some of their styles! Good luck with your decision.

I share the same vote :D. I also looking at ED for settings, after seeing your photos I think I'll go with the Gwen split shank.

The HALO!
definitely!!

I'm lovin the split shank! :appl:

I like (in order)
Gwen, and Ester, Lauren, then Ava.

That Gwen is SOOOOO pretty on you! :)

No doubts, my vote goes to Lauren setting.

Wow I'm loving the support for the Gwen here! I think I've narrowed it down to either the Gwen or a solitaire... which actually makes me laugh because it's basically the Gwen vs the entire solitaire category, which really isn't narrow at all! I really do love the Lauren, but I've decided to toss it out of consideration since my fiance is anti-halo and there are many other styles I would be happy with. But any halo lovers out there should definitely check it out! It's gorgeous, and being on a budget myself I know it's sometimes difficult to find nice settings like this in my range. Eternity Diamonds really does have great prices, and the rings are beautiful.

If I had to make a bet right now, I expect I'll still end up with the Gwen. They said they could customize it to allow a straight band to sit flush with it, but I actually tried on a straight band with it just now and I think it looks fine! It's not entirely flush, but the curve of the Gwen isn't so pronounced that it looks off. Eternity Diamonds also has a curved band to match the Gwen for anyone interested, but I really want a straight one.

In any case, these replicas are going back in the mail today. My fiance and I aren't actually buying the ring until January, so I'm going to try to stop staring at all these different settings until then or I'll never make a decision!

Thanks to everyone for all the input! It definitely helps a lot :)

Another vote for Gwen!

I'm dealing with the same question for my upgrade! please let us know what you decide!!

I think the Gwen looks great with that plain straight band! Can I vote twice? :cheeky:

haha i'll count it :)

I LOVE a solitaire! But next pick would be the split shank.

I like them in the exact order that you have them on your hand, with the solitaire as #1. The only one that I don't really care for at all is the Ester.
