Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

I bought it! Confirming it was not the price you last saw LOL. I’m obsessed with antique Tiffany though, and this setting is exquisite and seems like such an amazing contender for an engagement ring. Except I wasn’t thinking about the fact that it would take something close to an eight carat OMC to fill that center!! I’m going to get it and see what might make sense.

I also won a second lot of two platinum and diamond Art Nouveau settings, which I bid on as a back up and accidentally won. Look how sweet those designs are! These hold around 7mm-8mm stones.

I’m not sure if I’ll keep all of them, but I suppose I have some searching to do in the meantime!

I also did some digging into this auction and it’s actually super fascinating. The owner was a philanthropist who collected everything from rare art to jewels for many decades. Most of the items haven’t seen the open market in over 30 to 40 years, and they’ve had about five different auctions to sell everything over the past six months. 100% of the proceeds from the auctions are going to charities close to the family’s heart. I love knowing that the money I spent is going to good causes - I read that this woman sadly lost her child to cancer many years ago. Here is the article for anyone who’s interested to learn more!

Anyway - open to any and all ideas about what to fill these guys with!!!

Did these arrive yet? Did I miss them anywhere? They need their own thread for your journey to find stones for them. Or in preloved so we can fight over them.

I really need a 5.75 or even a 6 if I'm going to stack. My knuckles seem to be growing, but not the finger below. It's very frustrating. If I thought I could get it on, I'd definitely go for it if the price stayed fair.

Same!!! Can someone please find us both some at this price?

Divine. I’d buy it.

Weve only a few settings like this one, here on PS. There are some threads on having something this ornate made, a beautiful setting by Steven Kirsch comes to mind. Lulu_ma has an antique, similar, fabulous setting and original diamond I think made in England.

I wish we had an antique jewelry museum to visit, but owning specials pieces fills a little bit of the void. In a dream world, you could buy it and reset the crystal in a pendant and put your diamond at the center. We can dream!

Here’s a link to Lulu_ma’s similar style ring, with her original to the setting beautiful diamond.

Thanks for the mention @LightBright ! The setting was actually hand forged by a UK goldsmith-it's not actually antique :)

Please buy these as a set! I had these earrings in my cart but realized my wallet couldn't handle another hit. But now the matching necklace came up!!! Argh!

Good deal for an A. Jaffe piece

Loooove the champagne center with the yellow melee

Everything I’m currently watching on eBay, but am perfectly content with what I have, so happy shopping lol

Anyone size 5.25-5.5, looking for an eternity band?

I *think* this is a retired Lucinda rose gold/platinum two tone, thinnest version that was offered, but don’t quote me on that
How about a 6.5

Yes that is the thinnest lucida two tone band that was offered. Love this one and should have bought it when it was being offered at Tiffany. I looked forever for one before I bought one last year.

Ahhh crap! It's my size, so I just might have bought it. :roll2:

Congrats!!! I saw it this morning before you snapped it up and I loved it too, but I can't buy anything else right now. Please post pics!

I think this is well priced and they have best offer. Also, if you contact them directly, it would probably be even less.

I also like this. The suite looks very pretty. The setting is utilitarian but it could be nice to wear while contemplating a reset. Or keep it as is. For price, the asking feels high to me especially since the setting isn’t antique (looks mid century to me). Scrap value for the diamonds, loose, would be about $1000. Add a premium for the suite and the setting. I’d offer about $1400 and see what they counter.

Here is a 2cttw one listed for $1600. I can’t quite see the diamonds as well but it is a good value. I would ask the mm diameter of the diamonds and I might request pictures showing the end diamonds better.

Weird setting though.

I saw that, and I thought the stones didn’t look great. But you’re correct that the photographs aren’t good so who knows! That setting is horrible lol. For the Badis ring, If scrap value up diamonds is 1K don’t forget to have the gold and I think it’s still a competitive price when you figure there’s a best offer. And once again, it would probably be less expensive if you go directly because they have their own storefront.

It’s really hard to find five stone rings in this price point imo. They are both good prices - if the 2ct has good stones then it’s a REALLY good price.

Agreed. I think the diamonds in the platinum ring look ok in the close ups I’d like to see better pictures. EDIT: just to clarify, when I said “scrap value” is $1000 I mean that is about what it would cost to buy individual stones from the scrap/pawn sellers on eBay.

But now I just looked up retail for a nice five stone OEC band and my eyes are bleeding lol A 1.4 cttw suite in a decent setting runs $5.2k and a 2cttw closer to $7.5K so in either case it’s a great deal even with having to buy a new setting , especially if you make an offer. I was using my ring as a comparison point but that is obviously insane as I paid about $1600 for my 2.65cttw suite :evil2:

It’s possible to find five stones with nicer settings for a little less than these JbyG offerings, but it’s pretty rare.

You cannot use your finds as a point of comparison lol! Your ability to find a deal is exceptional!
