Somebody's Gotta Buy This Stone!

Inken Krause @Enhoerning Jewelry has listed this unheated 1.12 ct ruby on Loupe Troop. I'm not a rubies person, but I think it's appealingly "juicy" & her terms are very fair (it has a GIA report, a second, origin report from the lab of your choice, such as AGL, is included in the $8500 purchase price; free FedEx shipping; unconditional 7-day return policy). Would love to hear what those more well versed in rubies think of it!

The color is beautiful and perhaps redder than the ruby I obtained from her (currently my avatar), but anytime I hear "spready" or shallow cut, I wonder how big tilt window is. If you are in the money for such an investment, it will probably be worth checking out in person.

Red spinel and peridots from Burma. NEVER EVER seen this green in peridots. One of them is 96+ carats. Has anyone ever seen such colour in peridot? It seems like a tsavorite

Yes, Burma has some of the finest peridot in the world. However, unlike some (not all) tsavorite, no peridot will ever have a secondary blue hue. It always tends to a slightly yellowish green. It also has a waxy luster, low RI and is a softer gem.

For all paraiba and cobalt spinels, something that Karina (The Gem Collector) posted on her Instagram:

Currently still being certified, but the paraiba looks like it has an amazing glow :O

Never heard of this particular type of stone and while the quality doesn't seem super great I thought some of you might be interested in something like that.
If anyone has any info about cat's eye chrome tourmaline please share it

I’ve seen catseye tourmaline before.

I’ve seen nicer cats eye tourmaline. The one in the pic looks overly dark to me, and the line isn’t so well defined so personally I’ll pass.

Someone please buy these before I do. Kept hoping they'd be purchased today, but no luck. My will to not buy them is so weak!

Just for my learning but I always thought aquamarine should be as clean/inclusions free as possible?
I am very curious about this stone as I’ve not seen sleepy/silky aquamarine before

Not always. Milky aqua can be very gorgeous and sought after . Often in cabs as it tends to have a glow. Interesting that this is faceted. Very pretty!

I usually agree, but I really like some "sleepy" stones, and the color of this one is just awesome IMHO

I would've bought it but for my buying ban, because the aqua is unusual and beautiful. I'm going to use it as a motivator to finish a work project and not make a purchase until my work project is done.

I have seen cat's eye tourmaline before as well but never a chrome tourmaline with cat's eye. A rapid Google search gives no results

The video in the link shows a better line than the photo. Have you seen other cat's eye chrome tourmaline?

7.02 carat Chrysoberyl from Numberonegems for $1500. The only reason I haven't bought it is the risk. There is an inclusion at about 11 o'clock that could be a small fracture that might run through the corner of the stone if I follow the inclusion line. When Tan ran the store I would have been comfortable asking and trusting his answer. But the last two stones I bought from NOG a few years ago were not as nice as described, with the photos skillfully hiding their windows. And the store no longer accepts returns.

If it doesn't have a fracture, and it is as nice as it appears it would be a great stone. I usually see mostly honey/yellow colored Chryso being offered in sizes over 4 carats through online sellers.

Custom cut octagon tourmaline 1.88 cts - no treatment - clean - 5.42*7.60 mm - Congo

It's a Jeff Davies gemstone and it's an eBay auction that ends in like 6 days. I thought you might appreciate it as in my opinion it looks like a great choice for an eclectic ring or a smaller pendant :kiss2:

I’ve seen chrome catseyes at gem shows. In any case, it’s very dark, almost schorl like, so the chrome really doesn’t add to the beauty of the gem.
