Somebody's Gotta Buy This Stone!

So sad...as I tried for the tourmaline also but got my rejection email last night :(. Dying to see more photos of that stone...

I wish I would get my rejection email already. The not knowing is making me nuts!

Well I didnt get the spess. Ah well.

I'm sorry, MTG. Perhaps Gene might have more. Did you inquire? I did but have not received a response.

Nah. Actually I'm not really into orange or yellow. It was sort of just an impulse craving. Lol. I have a bunch of setting projects already in the works that I need to get done.

Looks fake to me too because the colour play is so strong and plentiful. :cheeky:

I've seen quite a few opals like that and I don't believe it's that unusual OR warrants such a hideous price! The fact is, the majority of the stone doesn't have the sought after colours OR a recognised pattern. Unless I'm missing something!

Bit of a tangent: Chrono, do you not wear your beautiful spess?

I'm curious as to what prompted this question. Yes, I do not wear it often because the colour isn't flattering on me, but that doesn't mean I love it any less than my other rings.

I hope PSers snagged Gene's new stones. Although I can't wear orange, I think the spess is especially sweet with the concave cutting and round shape making it look like the sun.

As for the emerald, one might not see the inclusions well but it will be obvious that one side is clear and sparkly while the other side looks cloudy or muted.

You mentioned recently that you don't wear orange. I'm glad to hear you still wear it!

Can't wear orange???

So what is happening to that exquisite orange and WF ring?
VL asked the same thing, and I was sitting here wondering after I reread the recent posts.

Here's a promising looking sapphire trillion. It may not be as saturated in person, per the vendor photo thread, but I don't know. It looks nice in the photo:

Oh dear, I never saw VL's question and hope nobody thought I was deliberately sidestepping the question. Sometimes it strikes my fancy and I wear it even though I look terrible in orange. Now you've guilted me into going to the vault next week to take it out for some sun exposure.

The trilliant sapphire looks nice in the picture. MC is usually priced well so if this heated and slightly included 3.4 ct stone in going for $1350 per carat, you'd think it should look really good in person.

No one looks terrible with that gorgeous spess. :naughty:

If I had the $, I'd get it myself. I haven't seen one like this in a while, and we have so many people looking for sapphires. It's a honker.

The "problem" is that nobody wants a trilliant for their e-ring, preferring a more classic round, cushion or oval.

I know...it's too bad. :|

Unless there is just a clerical error, the spess is still available on precisiongem's website

eta: I want it even though I HATE concave!! But I have far too much that I have to spend $$ on and actually finish before I can make such impulsive purchases.

Alright, who pounced in time?!?!

None! It's a website hiccup.

Which is the hiccup, that its sold, or that its not?

I dont know which is the hiccup or even if a hiccup might be a two part thing, a hic and an up. I was able to put the stone in my cart and then checkout though I did not complete it. About half an hour after I posted about that it was no longer, um, cartable.

Gene said his update page had a bug, so the stone was never available other than the very first time it was listed.

How about this one?

"Amazing highly saturated color. Mahenge spinels are known for their exceptionally vibrant color. The slightly silky luster adds both intensity and power to the color and the stone looks similar to a top Burmese ruby. Some minor windowing is evident but not distractive in at all. At 3.01cts. with a large face up size the stone could pass for a 4ct.+ stone in a setting."

Color Description : Medium Light Slightly Purplish Red [Pink]
Clarity : Slightly included
Image Light Source : Incandescent Light
Shape : Oval
Cut : Step Cut
Length (MM) : 10.00
Width (MM) : 7.80
Depth (MM) : 5.00
Weight (CTS) : 3.010

Looks like it is sold already. Also a small Bison could fall out that minor window.

It almost looks like the photo was manipulated to make more of the outer edge lighter and fuzzy to make it blend with the window...maybe that's just how the stone looks...

I find their photos so hard to read; it sure looks opaque to me. :errrr:

Baby bison!

It is more than slightly silky and there's no way a top Burmese ruby is going to look this pink.

+1. It looks like pink spinel with a lot of silk, which is what it is.

This stone comes with some metal attached. Im kinda on a opal eye binge
4.69 carats, price is preposterous

http://www.georgianjewelry.com/items/show/14719-symphony-of-color-black-opal-diamond-ring

eta: I really dislike the piece of metal attached to it. The diamonds are awkward and unnecessary, like a big taffeta bow on the backside of a dress. The prongs are just too big, covering too much. the undercarriage isn't so bad, but still not commensurate with the stone.
