Somebody's Gotta Buy This Stone!

Just a couple from today's TGT drop that I thought were pretty nifty:

1.76 ct. Reddish-Purple Musgravite

and a 1.73 ct. Green Spinel

I love that green spinel. I do not love the price.

Yeah, ditto.

Double ditto.

i got the fluorite in the quartz

I don't think the spinel has been delivered yet, but I will definitely report on it.

Cool, Vel. I'm really curious how it looks -- tell right away!

I wanted that for my SIL ring so bad. Couldn't convince him lol

Can't wait to see that spinel on PS!

On the red spinel, he's going out of country for a week and then there's the holidays, so I think he's telling J to hold off on shipping so he can have the 5 days when he's, well, around. Anyway, I will report as soon I know something!

That green spinel immediately caught my eye as well, but I would want to make sure that it is not darker than that in hand; I can't tell with his photos, but sometimes they are slightly less intense and darker in tone than his photos indicate.

I'm tired of looking at this and wanting to buy it. Someone needs to snap it up. It's a RICHARD HOMER concave cut spinel and it's a damn bargain for the stone AND a setting!

Richard Homer cut stones never come up for resale.

I have been looking at it too. An absolute bargain but purple is not for me.

Lovely stone at a great price and a classic setting that's my size. However, I just don't dig concave cutting. Too bad!

The color is intriguing -- I'd love to see it in different lights, bet it is really nice. I don't go for concave cutting much either, though.

Boo... ;( Guess I'll need more patience.

Here's what I think may be a very nice, richly colored (without being dreadfully dark) Tsavorite with a touch of blue and decent spread. I'd probably buy it myself if I wasn't holding out for a gem show on the 22nd of this month.

Beautiful brilliant cut, looks to be…medium-dark w/light flashes, sapphire by Peter Torraca

The sapphire is a nice cut but it looks like it would black out in low light.

The sapphire might be a good candidate for those who can appreciate a steely or stormy dark blue.

Yeah, JewelFreak - you're probably right - it is a bit darker than I would want to wear, but with the way it's cut to bring out the lighter flashes, I think it would be really pretty for someone, especially if they were looking for a stormy (great description!) blue as Chrono suggested :-)

I'm late to the conversation about GT but I loved that red pear shaped spinel. The color looks great. However, I'm trying to sell some of my loose stones to work on other projects. Whoever gets the red spinel, please share and I really, really hope it's even more gorgeous in hand!!!! Sigh.

I love that concave cut purple spinel ring on loupetroop! How easy/difficult would it be to have a ring like that resized down from 6.5 to 5.5?

I don't think it would be a problem to take it down one size. Inexpensive, too. Go for it, Juneberry! It's calling you.

Do it! My jeweler would charge $35 tops to size it down!

Mine too. Go for it!!

I am quite sure going down 1 size is doable. Depending on the jeweller you use, it could be $30 to $100.

Yes, but certainly not a bargain at almost $6,500 for the first one! Wow, just wow. Certainly beautiful. Certainly pricey.

Yes, but the second one was $0.00, so of course I "bought" it
