If I needed an ering I would purchase it without a second thought (and right now I honestly WISH I needed an ering)

Pictures truly do not do this ring a modicum of justice - I hunted for it on the website when I got home and was disappointed as how poorly it photographed. It literally grabbed my eye in the showcase before I even noted the details around it...

It is sitting in a tiny, very old, light blue box - very old for a reason - it is accompanied by the original Tiffany sales receipt that has a stamp across it reading ''Paid 12/13/1901''

(or maybe it was the 14th? Regardless it was December of 1901!!!!!!)

And the original price? This STUNNING 2 carat OE solitaire cost someone a grand total of $295 in 1901.

Not only is the stone stunning, but add on top of that the history of that ring....

If you are in the market for an OE or something that WILL be eyecatching, consider going by Singlestone to see this! PLEASE only buy it if you will really appreciate it - I will feel better if someone will really appreciate what this ring is!

I almost don''t want to post how to find it because it doesn''t look that great in pics, but you can find it if you go to SS website, then Vintage Jewelry, then rings, then page 7, it is the last one on the right.

I believe this is the link -last one on the Right

One of the things I enjoyed about it was being able to see the changes in the Tiffany setting from then to now! But the overall stone/sparkle/look. I wish they had a video. Sigh...

That is beautiful! Interesting to see how the shank has changed, wish we could see the side.

Ooooh...drop dead gorgeous. I wish I "needed" it...

*sigh*

Any idea about a price? It sounds intriguing.

If I recall correctly it was $22k? That should probably be confirmed with them though, in case I am wrong.

Or, for those on smaller budgets, there''s this 1902 .55 ct Tiffany solitaire that I''ve been eyeing with longing...

Thanks, Glitterata, for posting that link. I''ve been looking for images of the early Tiffany settings for a while, and that ebay posting was a bonanza. I''ve been curious to compare the setting through the ages, and also looking at Tiffany-inspired settings like Leon Mege''s Tulip and Mark Morrell''s solitaires. It is interesting to see how many little twists a designer can apply to a basic form.

Both are gorgeous... The 2nd is more in line w/ my champagne tastes/beer budget profile.

There was a very similar ring posted on ebay - maybe a year ago? Wonder if it''s the same one? I thought for sure I had saved the picture from the ebay listing but I can''t find it.

The pictures of it were to die for - I''m sure it is a very beautiful ring!

I remember that picture, it was a stunner!
I wish there was a larger one up on ebay....so pretty!

There are so many pretty SS pieces. I wish I lived close enough to visit their store.

How beautiful! I hope a PSr gets it so she can post more pictures. I also am intrigued by the evolution of their classic setting, but looking at both rings, it''s wonderful how the .55 carat POPS like a 2 carat in the Tiffany''s setting. So pretty. ***sigh***

I take it we are fans of this vendor?
There were one or two pieces that i think my girl would love as an e-ring.
First one on page 3 would .... uh, rock.
Ugh ... just as i was narrowing my options.

I was thinking of hitting the L.A DD this Saturday. I may just have to go to SS to check it out!

I''ve never worked with Ari. I''ve gotten a quote from him before, but it was quite high. I am a fan of the antique pieces he has. The second ring on the first page, the sapphire one, is so pretty. I really want to know the price, but know it''s out of my range so I''ve never asked.

Nice find Glitterata! Kimikocat - that ebay link Glitter posted IS the same setting (sans engravings) as the one SS has. I was especially intriged by how open the area under the culet was.

Chargergirl - do go and look at it if you go this weekend! It is in the case by the entrance (look for it in the case you look into when you are standing in the hallway before you enter the store.)

Addy - it is worth at least asking about the price if you really like something - one of the main reasons I went was actually to see a sapphire ring I am interested in, but unfortunately that one is actually in their San Marino showroom. They did offer to bring it in, but since I am not 100% positive I would purchase it I would feel bad if they made the effort to bring it in, and then I didn''t like it on my hand when I saw it in person.

Pablop3 - welcome to PS - hope you are able to make a decision! If you are in LA or SF maybe you could go to SS to look at their settings.

Pixley, hard not to love their stuff, huh?! :)

Mrsv and MissGotRocks - you guys must have great memories! It is truly a stunner. Maybe ChargerGirl will go and come back to confirm its beauty for us!

Very cool and classic rings.
