I made this for a centerpiece for my apartment, and I think it'd actually make a cute wedding centerpiece...the only thing is I'd need new gold/ivory ball stuff, mine got all mangled while I was playing with it b/c I kept arranging then rearranging it. What do you guys think? Do you think a cleaned up version of this would be good for centerpieces?

ETA: these are just the first "draft" I guess, and they're a little sloppy from being reworked a bunch, so suggestions are welcome!!!

I think it would make a wonderful centerpiece! It''s very pretty!

I think they are great, esp. with the small votives surrounding them.
How about putting it all on a round mirror?

I''m actually doing something similar for fall-theme.

FYI-- AC Moore this week has 8 inch hurricane vases on sale for $1.99
I went and bought 22 of them today!

I'm not sure how large the one I have is in the pic--does that look like 8 inches??

ETA: I just realized there is no AC Moore in Michigan...maybe I can ask my mom back in boston to go..

Another quick question--

those beads in the bottom are acrylic, so they are capable of melting or igniting, as I just figured out by trying to light one...it took a while but it did light (if the candle for some reason burned to the bottom then did not go out).

Does anyone have any suggestions for fillers that are non flammable or should I try to enclose the inside candle?

I dont think A) the candle woudl burn to the bottom during the reception and B) that if it did it would stay lit and cause problems with the beads, but does anyone know of a solution to this? I want to make sure my centerpiece is "up to code"

i can''t really tell from the pic,
but it seems about right- in the ballpark anyway.

as far as those crystals, i would check around for non-flammable,
or the other idea is to use a taller pillar, although i can''t imagine a pillar burning down during the course of a reception, although not sure how much heat they throw off while burning.

You could probably use rock salt instead of crystals- and it can be dyed any colour!

I sent a pic and the components of the centerpiece to my wedding planner lady (just day of planner at the hall) and she OK''ed everything, saying that as long as the pillar doesnt completely burn down it''s fine. So I''m working on timing its burning to see how far it goes in 6 hours haha. If it goes far, then I''ll substitute with longer candle.

I''m so excited! I''m going to go out and buy some of the stuff today while it''s on sale then wait for sales as they come!

Very wintery. I think they look very nice!!!

gorgeous centerpieces!

YAY, thanks guys!!! Do you think that all 4 pieces (the big vase plus the 3 little votives) will fit on the table ok? They're 10 person tables, so if there's doubt I'd prob not invest in buying the snowflakes, even though they're kind of my favorite part haha. I'm attaching a pic of what the tables at my venue look like set...

At the widest point the vase is 5.5 inches wide...

Do you guys think I should leave or remove the gold and ovory stick thing that wraps on the hurricane glass? Would it look too plain that way?
