Stack of the day thread

Thanks for letting me know, I am off to find the thread! Sorry if I went off on a band tangent on Stack of the Day thread. I will post another stack when I get the new ring.

Are you kidding? We all do it!

My mom’s upgrade with her original stone and original wedding band and an old eternity band that I cannot get off. Oops! :oops2: Hoping to lose some weight. Otherwise I’ll have to soak in ice water. 0DD894F4-1A64-4EF4-A97B-DF615ECE3185.jpeg

Back with 2 new additions that finally came through the mail!

I received a low-profile marquise solitaire from my husband for V day and wanted a matching band for it. I finally found a matching marquise and round brilliant diamond eternity band that is straight on one side and slightly dipped on the other side.

And this next ring brings me absolute joy! It's a vintage 9k gold fede gimmel ring. It consists of three separate rings joined by a pin and opens up to show two hands and a heart with a tiny flush set diamond.

Here's what I learnt about its history and symbolism, and therefore love it to bits!
~ Fede rings represent hands joined in faith ("mani in fede") and are first exchanged as tokens of friendship, partnership and loyalty in 1st to 3rd century ancient Roman history. They were also popular as betrothal and marriage rings in the middle ages in Europe. The gimmel ring or joint ring, came from the Latin word "gemellus", which means twin, and is a ring that consists of two or more intertwined rings. In olden times, during the engagement period, the lady and gentleman sometimes wore one "hand" ring each, with the witness wearing the 3rd "heart" ring, and after the marriage ceremony, all three rings will then be combined and worn by the lady. Hence, the fede gimmel ring symbolizes the joining of two persons as one heart, and that although each band is free, just as each individual is their own person, they also come together to form a whole.

I've had fun making these ring stacks! Thanks for looking!

I love every single stack combination & I would be totally in knots at the options I had!

I adore the hand holding ring & thank you so much for sharing the history! It’s so fascinating to me that in the ‘olden days’ jewellery was always, always meaningful & had a story, rather than just something beautiful & pretty. There was such an incredible amount of thought put into it.

Is your ring a modern take on an old design, or can you date it to a particular time? Is it marked? Fascinating that there were 3 people involved with it originally. I love it.

Hiya! Nice seeing you again. it's been a while.

That's one noteworthy 5-stone ring! Have you shown us the profile of it? Nicely done bezel too.

So pretty!

Hellooo!
Todays "fingerwear" is a stack of a 3 band and 7 band Cartier thin trinity rings.
Each is nice alone but even nicer all together.:D

Love this! I sometimes wear my "small" Cartier trinity on the same finger as my XS Cartier trinity.

@Rubies-R-Me Are the two rings the same size or did you have to go larger for the 7-band ring?

When you get a new ring and immediately get all the stackers out for a photo shoot!

@springsparkle I love your OEC, and your choice of bands is inspirational! Please tell me about the "marquise" and sapphire band in the photo. It looks like there are two round-shaped stones in the marquise-shaped bezel. I like this idea, as rounds are more sparkly. :D
