Thanks, Ed, but it''ll probably boil down to just plain FedEx, DHL or UPS and their bubblewrap envelopes. I believe the maximum insurance cover available is only $200.
I believe Fedex provides good insurance coverage for packages sent by companies. For individuals, they cover only up to ~$200 to $500. UPS has much higher limit. I had returned gemstones and jewelries through them but I don''t know their overseas policies.

I usually put them in a bubble wrap envelope, then into a sturdy paper box. It is important to insure them at full value because they do get lost. I had to claim loss once and UPS reimbursed me my money after a relatively painless procedure.
