Mara, people are going to start telling their vendors to ship their rings to you for diamond photography before receiving the ring!

Congratulations to your best friend! What a stunning stone and elegant setting!!

WOW! Your friend''s ring is beautiful! Those are awesome pictures and really shows how delicate that ritani setting is, something I never realized before. It is really gorgeous. Tell your friend congrats for us!

She''s a lucky girl to recieve such a fab ring and to have friend like you, to steer in the right diamond-buying-direction!!!

Another lovely K!

Make sure you hijack her hand when you see her for hand shots!!!!

First off, awesome pictures!

I have a question though.. I see that WF mounted the ring with their diamond. Do you mind me asking where you got the Ritani setting from? Does WF supply this or did the setting have to be purchased somewhere else, then shipped to WF for mounting with their ACA? The reason I''m asking is this is the exact setup I want to use for my e-ring to propose to my gf.

Thanks!

hi propel...WF does not sell Ritani, and my friend was considering having WF make her something entirely custom as she also looked around locally. She had seen something she loved at a local place, but was still shopping. Knowing that she wanted a setting to really maximize the diamond size and liked the eternity pave bead set kinda look, I thought of the Ritani, so we went to the maul to see it. One of the stores in the maul carries Ritani, they are called Bailey Banks and Biddle.

So we saw the setting there, she loved it....eventually she showed it to her BF, he loved it and then they went in and purchased the setting in the store display case. I guess that''s not typical, but the saleslady knew she did not want to wait the 4 weeks for Ritani to hand-craft the setting custom for her stone, the CZ in the Ritani in the case was 1.5c and her diamond was 1.6c so they knew the slightly bigger diamond would fit in the head, and the display set was her ring size. But typically I guess you order the setting locally, give them a copy of the cert of the diamond and they make the setting and head for the diamond. Then they can ship the setting to your jeweler (WF or whoever) or back to BBB for them to ship for you. My friend wanted WF to set her diamond as the diamond was the more expensive piece of the puzzle, and BBB said that was not a problem. They were going to charge her a setting fee to set the WF diamond, and WF was going to charge her a setting fee to set their diamond another setting as well. Kind of wash. So she shipped the setting off to WF, they inspected it and ensured everything was okay with it (BBB had said she could return it and get a new one if something was wrong), set the stone and that was that!

I was a little leery of her buying the display case ring, and she only got a discount of ''no sales tax'' but she really did not want to wait 4 weeks...so this was the perfect solution it seems!! Hope this helps...I know Ritani has a lot of authorized retailers so I would imagine you could find something fairly local to look at and purchase from. Part of what my girlfriend liked about going local with the Ritani vs buying it online (she could have saved about $300-500 depending on the retailer) was that if anything happens to the ring, aka melee is lost or something, she just takes it back into BBB and they handle everything with Ritani for her. She doesn''t have to do anything. Also they will do all the maintenance and all that, so she just felt more comfortable with that kind of scenario for a branded setting that may need future maintenance.

Punchie, I posted some hand shots on the previous page!

Thanks for the detailed info Mara, it''s greatly appreciated! I guess I will goto BBB to check out the ring first.

Thanks again!

Thanks too for that info Mara...I am strongly considering resetting my EC, since my current setting will not sit flush with anything...and I really love the endless love setting....I have another question for you though- do they make this setting for an EC too? I found this pic on the Pearlmans web site- although its looks like a princess? But I was wondering if it can be made to accomodate an EC or not? Do you know?

Sorry Dani I don't know a thing about other shapes with Ritani, BUT I do know that Kayla was able to make some customized changes to her setting when they were working on it, so I would imagine they could create something for you that would house your EC...if they make it for rounds and princesses then why not for another shape. I'd ask a local Ritani dealer...!

Thanks Mara! I will call Bailey Banks and Biddle or another Ritani retailer and ask...

How do you think that setting would look with an EC? Do you think Ritani would be able to make the e-ring sit flush with the w-band? As always, your help is soooo appreciated!!!
2.gif

I think it would be lovely with an EC! As for the flush fit thing, the Ritani has a head that starts straight in the band so it should allow for a flush fit but I would imagine if they designed one for you that would work with an EC, you could make sure and specify you wanted a flush fit too!

Mara-

That really sounds just like what I am looking for...my current setting is beautiful, but it will not allow any kind of band to sit flush-not even near flush, and I know that is going to bother me in the long run, because I want to wear my rings together. My current setting is a platinum solitaire with claw prongs, with just pave surrounding the basket...the Ritani will be very similar, e.g the thinness of the band and the pave basket, but the Ritani will have the pave eternity band, which I love...the only thing I think I would miss would be the claw prongs, but I think the prongs on the Ritani are really nice too!I just dont want my diamond set really high... Maybe I will contact Mark (at ERD, where we purchased the ring) to see if be could get me the Ritani (I vaguely remember him saying he is a dealer...)

Thanks so much for your help, I will let you know how this turns out...

Dani, I think your EC would look gorgeous is the ritani setting if they can do it. please keep us posted on what you find out.

Wow, Mara. Your friend is lucky to have you on her team!!! That is a beautiful ring and you''re so right, it is one of the most delicate settings I''ve ever seen. It totally makes her stone look like a 2.5 carat boulder. Niiiiice!!!

Ohhh- thanks Mrssalvo!!! You have been such a great help to me too! I never really considered changing my e-ring setting before, but I think there is just no other solution if I want a flush-fit, ya know? The gap that is there when I put a w-band next to my ring is just too big- it kind of looks stupid. I hate to give up my gorgeous setting, but the Ritani is just as much if not more gorgeous, and the fact that it will sit flush with a w-band is so appealing! I never thought I would like an EC with pave, but I saw one last week in a high-end B&M around here (it wasn''t Ritani) and it was just beautiful- the pave did not take away from the EC at all- which was what my original fear was! That''s why with my ring I went with the plain solitaire. I love my setting, but sometimes I feel like it needs a little more... definitely seeing that ring in the store made all of that fear go away though, for sure!

I will certainly let you know what happens, maybe I will give Mark a call this week?!

On another note, any decisions re:your upgrade? We can be Ritani twins! lol

The pave in the ritani bands is so subtle that I don't think it would take away from your EC at all. it really only add a little shimmer of sparkle and is so lovely IMO. Can't wait to see what you find out.

No decisions yet on a home for my bauble. I'm waiting for it to get back from AGS and to see it in person first.

The ring is gorgeous. I am just back from vacation and lots of goodies await!

Your friend is lucky to have you...it''s a stunner and really very lovely..................

Update...they went off to their romantic getaway, he surprised her after dinner by finding a gazebo with roses and flowers all around it and taking her to it, getting on one knee and proposing, too cute. She is ecstatic, she adores the ring and her man and they had a great time. On the way home from Napa they stopped into her parents and said SURPRISE.

She sent out an email with pictures to our friends and one of our girlfriend's responded and said 'the real question is...is it bigger than mara's?!?!'....
