Suggestions needed for non fussy or needy watch…

I second making sure you can read the dial. My MIL gifted me her gold and diamond Raymond Weil for my 40th. It’s face is tiny and now aged 52, I cannot read it unless I’m wearing my reading glasses. Luckily I only wear it out on special occasions - the rest of the time I have my sturdier Apple Watch.

Look at the Cartier Solo Ronde too if you're looking at the Ballon Bleu. It doesn't have the cutout and it's a very comfortable watch. Love mine. Will post a photo later if it would be helpful.

Yes! I saw that one! That’s on my list. I would love to see it! Thank you!

@rainwood I would love to see your Solo Ronde..I keep going back and forth between getting a nice classic simple watch..or ones with diamonds. I like the clean look of the Solo Ronde.

I’m a little smitten with the Omega Constellation with diamond bezel..When I can stop coughing we will go to both the Cartier and Omega Boutiques to see them in person.

Just 2? How about other jewellery/watch boutiques?

I did that with @mochiko42 and @pearaffair when I was in Canada in 2018, blinged up and we had a great time visiting as many big jewellery houses as we could in downtown Vancouver after our lunch, great fun!

DK =)2

I can’t wait to see what you choose @MamaBee.

I just told my husband he can’t come into the boutiques with me! He doesn’t dress like @missy ‘s husband..I don’t dress well either but at least I can bling myself up!

@MamaBee, I bought the Raymond Weil watch because I wasn't nuts about the Ballon Bleu for the same reasons you mentioned. Now it doesn’t bother me at all and I wished I’d bought it.

Do you know what shape you are interested in?

@Calliecake I go back and forth but I think I want the round face. I am now worried about getting knocked off for my watch the more expensive I go…Haha The Constellation watch is really pretty..My lifestyle is VERY casual so it may be overkill. I like the tanks but the faces seem somewhat plain after my Raymond Weil with diamonds in the lug positions. That watch never missed a second either. I will still wear it because it’s two tone. I also like the Tank Francaise..I took it off the list..but then I put it back on because it has a square face with diamonds. It also looks more understated. I’m confused..:P

I would advise trying as many different size and shape as you could in real life before deciding. If you have a watch boutique near you then that would be a great place to start with.

If you have time or the inclination, you could also try the cheapo home version by drawing shapes and size to size on graph paper and then cut them out to place the shapes on your wrist.

DK :))

@MamaBee, Are you talking about Omega Constellation? If so, thats looks beautiful and classic. It’s a beautiful watch. You could wear it with casual or dressy clothes.

Here's the Cartier Ronde Solo (30mm) on a 6.5 wrist. Super comfortable, goes with everything. It's a great watch that can go casual or kind of dressy if that's what you're looking for. And the original battery lasted for 5 years.

Most of my watches are round faces except for my Cartier Tank Francaise and my 2 Cartier Tanks. I don't love the Tank Francaise and never wear it. I just don't love the look. The original Tanks are classic, and I love them, but that Ronde stayed on my wrist for years, and is only off now because it needs a new battery.

If you want diamonds on your watch, I won't be much help. I love diamonds, but like my sparkle elsewhere. IMG_1658.jpeg

Try on all sorts of shapes and sizes and styles. You'll know your watch when you see it.

I second that, and I knew I wanted an Ebel Beluga as soon as I saw them, for their shiny curvy stainless steel bracelet.

Thank you @rainwood! It looks so different on your wrist. I really like it. I was leaning towards the Tank Francaise because of the Diamonds. You’re right...I can get my sparkle somewhere else. It doesn’t look like Cartier carries the Solo anymore..The closest one to yours is the Ronde Must..It’s 29 mm..

A good sales rep knows that people with money to spend often are not the most fashionably dressed customers.
My first “serious” watch was a Raymond Weil. It’s still going strong 20+ years later. Threads about watches are fun, but they make me miss Dancing Fire. Looking forward to seeing what you decide on!

@Calliecake Believe it or not the reason I’m having trouble with finding one is I still love my Raymond Weil. I love the diamond markers..It’s quietly elegant. I’ve had it for over twenty years and it still keeps perfect time.
I want a bit of some bling somewhere on the new watch. I do have a Gucci rectangle watch with diamonds I never wear. I’m afraid to get a tank because it may be I like a different shape other than round..but not on me. I also don’t want something so blingy I will be a target. That’s why I don’t want to go too crazy..I make decisions on jewelry faster than this watch!

Which Raymond Weil Watch do you have @MamaBee? I have the Raymond Weil Jasmine that I bought around 10 years ago and still love it.

Are you thinking diamonds around the bezel would be too much?

I think you may have to go and try some watches on. You will know when you find the right one or…. three.

I bought mine a little over 20 years ago…It’s a little dinged up because I wore it every day until Covid hit.
This is the one I have..It actually looks more dinged up and discolored in the photo. The face isn’t in real life..The diamond markers don’t show up in the photo but they still sparkle nicely.629CCE30-45F1-4571-AB09-18737D323FBC.jpeg

I love it @MamaBee. I wish they still made this watch. I love the size. My wrist is small. The larger watches look ridiculous on me. This looks like its the perfect size.

Thanks @Calliecake..I looked up the size of the face. It’s 25mm..I will try to get a little bigger but not over 33. I’ll have to try them on.

Thank you @dk168! I’ll still wear it when I wear my yellow gold jewelry. This time I’ll get stainless steel because I predominantly wear white metals.

What did you decide on?

I wasn’t going to say because I won’t know until I see it in person. I will post a photo when I get home… ;)
