***Supposedly, It's A Blizzard***

Our local meteorologist said that my city got 9" of snow. We were supposed to get a lot more. It's so windy that the snow hasn't really stuck to the cars too much. Every so often a huge gust of wind comes along and it looks like a whiteout. I'm not looking forward to digging out my car later.

How is everybody faring in the crazy snow?

Just waiting for the city plows to come and scrape off the area we usually park our cars in. I dug out my car enough to pull out and parked a block away where the road was plowed so people could actually safely park. once they do that I'll park like a jerk and take up two spots so the better half can have a place to park from seeing the family in Buffalo.

I really had no idea how much snow we had gotten. It didn't seem like the huge snowstorms of my childhood to me, but it stopped my father. He was unable to cope with it on his own with his snowblower. A couple of neighbors with bigger snowblowers gave him a hand, and one car is still snowed in. He said that he can't remember a snow this bad.

The local newspaper said the town got 18 inches, with some parts getting 20 inches. It didn't seem that high to me. Or maybe I remember two foot high snowfalls! At any rate, it took time to dig out, but people have dug out. Secondary streets are definitely not ready for prime time. I am a New England driver and when I accidentally found myself going down a steep, unplowed hill I went into the lowest gear I had and gently tapped the brakes if I needed to do so. Far too many people in this area are not from here and think that if they have four-wheel drive vehicles that they can do whatever they want and they won't slip or slide. My personal prejudice is against New York City drivers. I think our town is now full of people from New York City with too much money, too much arrogance, and too much time spent here!
