So here''s some suspisious activity. Our newly engaged friend came over the other night (this friend''s parents are friends with SO''s parents). And he says to SO ''my mom thought you guys were engaged too because your mom said you had the ring or gave her the ring or something like that.'' And he says this right in front of me! SO didnt respond and I didnt see the look on his face because I was looking at our friend who quickly changed the subject. As some of you may know SO seemed to get annoyed when I''ve brought up engagement but he recently confessed that its because he feels its the man''s responsibility and the woman shouldn''t have to be the one to bring it up\ he wants to do it on his own. Then the other day he mentions hes going out with his friend to Christmas shop. I say thats a good idea because he''ll be able to get my present without me being around as we already did most of our shopping. He says ''um I''ve already had your present for awhile.'' Yet we have all our presents under the tree and mine''s not

There yet. Maybe I''m reading into this too much but I hope he''s really been trying to throw me off all along and I''ll be getting a Christmas surprise! I''ll also have to brace myself for the fact that he''s just been lazy and hasn''t wrapped my present for some reason haha! He says its in a super secret hiding place though.

Grr...this just deleted my post.

I need to start remembering to copy before hitting submit, incase I lose my post!

So, so as I was previously posting...I have something to add to the list...probably nothing, but my first "something" that could be promising!

This weekend, my BF and I were talking about Christmas and shopping for gifts, etc. I mentioned how I had to wrap his presents and he made the comment that he''ll only have my one "big" gift for me because he won''t be able to afford anything else.

Later in the weekend he mentioned that a woman he works with is really big into rings and diamonds, etc. He saw her surfing the internet one day last week and they started talking about rings, and diamonds. He specifically said they talked about cut, clarity, color, and carat...the 4 C''s!!! I couldn''t believe he actually have a convo with someone about those since he wants 0 help from me!

I''m not going to get my hopes up though b/c I''d rather be surprised than disappointed. I''m sure you ladies can understand!

Like I said, it''s probably nothing but at least I know he know has a very knowledgable resource to talk to when he is ready!
36.gif

Thanks you guys, you''re so sweet to be excited for me! It''s so weird, I''m just calm. I think if I didn''t know at all when, I''d be bouncing up and down 24/7. LOL!

That def. qualifies as suspicious activity! Guys usually have 0 interest in the 4C''s until they feel that they need to know something.

Oh, wow!!! That''s GOT to be something!!! (And shame on your friend!!!!) I''m keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Alright, I have more-- I''ve suddenly "misplaced" my favorite pair of gloves. I know it isn''t a ring I wear frequently, but these are vintage 1950s black leather kid gloves (fit very tight on my hands) and I would be very upset if I were to lose them for good...

These gloves were last seen on Saturday night when we went out and I remember wearing them to the restaurant and back here. For safe measure, I called the restaurant who told me they''d call if they found anything. My SO said he hasn''t "gotten a chance to look for them yet," but I know there is no way they are at his place....well, at least that -I- didn''t leave them there.

hmmm....

OKay, I finally have something to post in this thread!

B told me over the weekend that he opened a new gmail account (I know his school email password b/c he frequently has me check it since his work blocks it.) I asked him why he opened a new account, and he said because he will need it when he graduates in May (and his school email goes away.) Legit, yes. Then I jokingly said, "what''s the password?" and he said, "If I tell you, I can''t tell you the username."

Now, he isn''t really an "on-the-ball" kind of person and getting a new email account 6 months in advance just isn''t his style... and since I know he will be buying my ring online... I *think* there may be another reason for the account.
36.gif

Trillionaire, I just gotta say that this thread was an AWESOME IDEA! I''m no where near engagement but I very much have enjoyed reading about all the suspicious activity going on!

Sunnyd -- I''m so EXCITED for you!

This just in!

SO went to class this evening, and I was going to make dinner for when he got home around 8:30pm. I had everything ready, but it was closer to 9 when he got home, so I warmed the plates while he cleared the table. I got our drinks, then lit the candle on the table (not a romantic candle, a BIG FAT Yankee Candle, lol) He smiled and asked, is this what I would have to look forward to everyday, if we were married? I told him no... some days he would be doing the cooking, but the dog would always lick his feet, and I would be happy to clear the table! I also said that somedays, I would look nicer, since I was in sweats.
3.gif

So we eat dinner, and chit chat, then he asks me to hand him a book from the bookcase behind me. The book was "The Secret to a Successful, Happy Family" (or something like that) His dad gave it to him a while ago, and he openned it up and started reading a passage, all the while alluding to how he and I and the dog were a 'family'. It was really cute, totally unexpected, and decidedly susipicious!
27.gif

LOL, guys are so funny!

That''s such a cute story, trillionaire!
I love that his dad gave him a book

on making a happy family and that your SO would share some of it with you. How cute!

I was so surprised, I was just sitting there smiling my tush off! It's funny because the book is 'religious' in nature, quoting the bible and all, (I think his dad's way of trying to save our 'heath souls') but he found a delightful passage with no religious undertones and read that part. What can I say, when he's good, he's good!

I'm also thinking I should go back to my house soon. All of this 'suspicious activity' is making me want to search his place for this mystery ring!
27.gif

So funny, since it's been in here since July and I have never really wanted to look before...
9.gif

ETA:

EPIC FAIL! I looked. I know where it is. (in my lame defense, it wasn't even 'really' hidden...) I didn't open the box, I didn't actually see it. I just found the shipping box from the jeweler. I want to be surprised, so I didn't look. I want the day of the proposal to be the first time I lay eyes on it, so I can be surprised and excited and all of the emotions will be genuine and new. Still very cool to know it's RIGHT HERE! Sad thing is, I really only want to look so that I can checkout the diamond and see how it looks in daylight.
27.gif
That's how you know you spend too much time on PS.

Oh man, I really need to go home now...

Well, Mr. Man just came back from a trip to Atlanta to visit his family (and I wasn’t allowed to go). I DEFINATLY think that he did some engagement ring shopping while he was up there. He went to dinner with his family and ran into his boss’s wife at the restaurant. He invited her to eat with them and they chatted about her engagement ring. (He told me this over the phone that night). Now really, why would he be talking to this woman about engagement rings? (her’s was a 6 carat canary diamond with two carot size stones...Wow, I wish I was there to see it!) Anyway, he came home on Sunday and told me he had a surprise for me. It was a very expensive bottle of champagne from his boss’s wife wrapped in a red bow with a little fake diamond handing from the bow. He told me that it was a congratulations for him being with the company for six months... And I don’t believe it!
11.gif
Haha. He told me that we will open up the bottle on New years...And his brother will be coming down to visit as well that weekend. Hmmmm... Maybe a new years proposal??? In any case, I’d bet $10 that he has something up his sleeve. I''m not sure if he just went up to look at engagement rings or if he bought something but I think it may happen in the next few months. YEA!

Right now I''m just enjoing the time that we are in. I know it''s comming but have no idea when it will happen or what the ring will look like. It''s just so exciting that we are finally almost there!

ooooooohhh...GOOD ONE!!!

I DEFINITELY agree that he has something up that sleeve of his!!!!

Kayak...your time is coming m''dear!

So last night I had a dream about my ering. It was totally wrong. The stone was oval, the band was wide (6-8mm) and had tribal designs carved into it, and it was bezel set. In reality the stone is round, it will have 4 or 6 prongs, split shank and only 2mm wide.

So I tell FF about this when he''s taking me to school to sell books back. I told him that I had dreamed about my ering, because he mentioned something about having weird dreams, but that it was all wrong, and then I described what it looked like in my dream. He got a horrified look on his face and said, "I hope not!"

Hmmm...

Here''s my most recent:
boy and I were relaxing, talking about some of our mutual friends, who all happen to be married, when out of the blue he mentions "C''s center stone is a princess cut." He isn''t usually one to notice these things, and the only other time we have ever even talked about our friends rings was about 2 years ago when C was playing softball and asked me to hold her rings (at that time he jokingly told C I wasn''t allowed to b/c it would give me ''ideas'')
plus last night we were talking about Christmas gifts and I mentioned that I didn''t really know what I wanted for Christmas, that this year I was just so blessed in general that I couldn''t think of anything else I need he replied "I know what you want" Me: "Really, what do I want?" him "something sparkely" I don''t usually wear a lot of jewlry and he has NEVER gotten me jewlry as a gift before so who knows....

not getting my hopes up too high. For some reason I really see it happening at the beginning of the summer, right around our 5 1/2 year mark.

However, I am VERY EXCITED! Holy CRAP! It''s amazing! And really, I wasn''t going to look, but I looked at the cert and appraisal, and they didn''t match, so then I was confused and worried that SO go duped, and (insert other random excuses here) so I looked.
15.gif
I would have never guessed in 1 million years, so I wish I had waited, but oh well. Also, my finger is not small (6.5) but it is long, but 1 ct looks huge! I can''t even imagine these massive rings on PS. Wowsers! it is nearly 7mm though, as a trillion.

Trust me, I thought about it!
27.gif
I also thought about wearing it out for a few errands
11.gif
, you know, a test run, before SO got home from work.
31.gif
Geez, I know why we ladies get all bent out of shape about these things! I really hope he proposes when I am around my family, my parents will be so excited and my dad will be so proud with that 'he did good' look on his face.
16.gif
And assuming that SO doesn't catch me completely off guard, I can focus totally on him and what he is saying, since I know the ring is perfect already. Not exactly what I would have chosen, but perfect, and I'm glad he got to chose
9.gif
And I wish I hadn't peeked.
40.gif
I would have been totally floored!

ETA: BUT, this has no bearing on the fact that he has had this bad boy since JULY! I mean, it's taken me this long to even be curious enough to look, but he might hold it hostage FOREVER!

Well I guess you have a free peek pass since you''ve been so good since July!!! I still can''t believe he''s had it for that long...I wonder if he thinks it looks better on him then it would on you
25.gif
...There''s no other reason a man should be holding on to a ring like that for that long...

I found out that FF has had my ring for almost 2 months and I was like the the H is taking him so long!!! I would propose to myself if I found a ring that he''d been sitting on for 6 months!!

you have ANY idea to when he''s going to ask...I woud be soooo lost and confused if I were you.

Well let's see... my birthday was in August. Nope. Our 5th anniversary was in September. Nope. Thanksgiving in Nov. Nope. You think I am getting my hopes up for X-mas or New Year's? NOPE.

But he is acting suspect now, and he wasn't before. The only thing that remotely makes me think he might do it over the holidays is that we are going to see both families for the first time (mine for x-mas, his for New Years) and he spent a LOT of money to make sure that would happen. Because usually, we would probably scrap the idea if it was so costly. So maybe there is a chance. And my parents have randomly invited my aunts and uncles and god brother to ALL come out this X-mas, which seems suspicious. They haven't come for X-mas in over 12 yrs! Maybe they know something that I don't? Either way, I am keeping my expectations low.
20.gif

ETA: It is a very weird position, when the guy has the ring, but is holding it hostage... because clearly the expense and commitment are not the issue... so is it just timing? So big elaborate plan? Is he waiting for a sign from God? Divine Intervention? Who knows.
33.gif
It made me really pissy and frustrated for a while, then I got over it. I'm pretty fine with everything now, since it's funny to listen to his 'subtle hints'. He doesn't have any idea that I am on to him, so he probably doesn't feel any time pressure. *shrug*

Well, I must say that all of the suspicious activity today has been mine
23.gif
Bad LIW!

12.gif

Trill,

I have to give you credit for holding out a half hour! I'm sure it'll be a wonderful moment when he proposes with it. Now the challenge will be to old out peeking again until then!

One suspicious activity instance today: We're talking about a couple of things we're looking forward to in the future and I mention "marriage". SO gets this big grin on his face and says "Well, I'm working on the marriage thing and am looking very much forward to it too"
30.gif
9.gif
I gave him a big hug...

So today I got my "missing" gloves back from my SO. He called and left a voicemail this morning when I was at work saying that that he had them and would give them back to me tonight. When I asked where he found them he quickly blurted out, "my room." Funny thing is, the last time I stayed over at his place was this past Friday, and I would have seen the gloves if I had left them there (his room is immaculate and clear of any form of clutter). I remember wearing said gloves when we went out on Saturday, which means he had to have gotten them from me sometime between Friday and Saturday.

Unless my memory is spotty and completely giving in my 28 years, something is fishy with those gloves going "missing."

So I have a bit more suspicious activity to share:

Yesterday I was on the phone with my BF and asked him how his day was going. He told me about what he''d been doing...hair cut, packing (he''s moving this weekend), and then he said he dropped his suit off at the cleaners. Which I thought was strange and asked him why...he''s reason was in case he gets an interview for a new position he''s thinking about applying for. He hasn''t even applied yet, so why would he take his suit? Also he said for the holidays, mind you this is not our first holiday together and he''s NEVER worn a suit. He hasn''t worn a suit in the past year and a half, even to a few weddings we''ve been to he didn''t wear a suit. Just nice pants and a nice button up shirt with a tie. (Same for the holidays) So I thought this was strange.

Then last night he came over and we were falling asleep in bed (or at least I was!). After he thought I was asleep, I heard him whisper something, essentially that he wanted to marry me and for me to have his babies! He''s never really one for sharing thoughts like that. We did have a talk the other night about how I''m always so forward about my emotions and thoughts for the future whereas he has made it clear once or twice that we are on the same page and he wants the same things but he doesn''t talk about it regularly. But I could definitely see that something was on his mind last night, just by the way he was looking at me, definitely like he was thinking about our future. He was saying things like how he can''t wait for us to have our own place and be able to make it ours. How he can''t wait to come home and have dinner with me every night and wake up together every day. Tons and tons of wonderful, nice things that he doesn''t say too much. Don''t get me wrong, I''ve always known we were on the same page and wanted the same things, it''s not that he doesn''t tell me how he feels, just not in so many wonderful words with so many thoughts about the future.

I really hate to get excited about it all and think that maybe it could happen over the holidays b/c I really don''t want to get disappointed if it doesn''t. I know that he will pick the absolute perfect time to propose and that if it isn''t over the holidays, it will still be perfect for us when he does. But I can''t help but think how wonderful a holiday proposal would be since it is my absolute favorite time of the year! Ugh, how do you ladies deal with this!

Anyone out there that''s been excited thinking it was going to happen at a certain time, or around the holidays, etc. and it didn''t? How did you deal with the disappointed or bummed out feeling without letting it ruin the day? I know that probably sounds kind of crappy b/c I don''t need a proposal to make my holidays amazing, they''ll be amazing just celebrating with him, but a proposal would make it that much better!

I just wanted to say that I love this thread.
face23.gif

I am so excited for you all!! This thread just made me cry!! How pathetic am I?? Just made me feel really emoitonal, it''s all so exciting, I can''t wait until it''s my turn!! Have fun ladies and keep posting!!
