Talk to me about peices that "got away"

I feel like mine are silly and/or dainty in comparison, but they still haunt me even though they are recent misses.

First was this 14k snake ring posted by Front General Store that I missed (I love his face and open mouth plus the simplicity):

Second was this Peruzzi cut diamond and emerald target run posted by The Second Hand Jewellery Box:

@Rare_Swan. I bought from her before and she's very honest about the condition. Prices are reasonable, so she sells really fast.

Okay, I was never going to really buy these pieces-I mean I wish I could have…:geek2:

A casual 58 ctw necklace. The center pear is a 3 ct F/VS

The mother of Columbian emerald with inconsequential treatment-not sure that that really means-other than expensive...

There's only a few that have "gotten away" for me...
This is a Steven Kirsch wire trilogy ring that Jewels by Grace was selling. It sat for a number of months and we *almost* selected it for my engagement ring, but it sold literally the month before my now husband I were finally ready to start seriously ring shopping. But I got my Irys ring from VC, so all is well

This aquamarine ring is just so weird, but it's charming. I think about it from time to time. It just had so much personality and history.

A happy update: I was finally able to increase my budget a bit. I reached out to Alex to see if he can find my Moval or antique marquise. He says he’s going to look for it next week! I’m super excited and hopeful.

Circling back …. Any luck with your moval/antique marquise?

I thought about this today. 10 years ago I came across an asscher cut diamond bangle for 1400 and I passed on it. Stupid me.

No :cry2:. I had a friend in the business look for it and no luck. Crickets from Alex so far to. It’s a difficult thing to find so it could take awhile.

Here’s mine. I was hoping she’d be flawed enough not to sell until the new year (I kind of spent all my bling budget for the year already…), but it sold. Czarist Russia, first half of the 19th century, 14k gold, natural turquoise and pearl.

I have a Moval coming!!!! I’ve been looking every single day for months and something popped up. It’s a bit smaller than I had originally hoped for. It is also an SI2 and most likely not eye clean. It was however less than 1/3 of my budget and has that perfect cartoonish look that makes my heart swoon. I debated for a whole 30 minutes before I decided that it is going to be another one that got away if I don’t pull the trigger. IMG_2184.jpeg

Oh it's chunky and delightful! And it looks like it will be eye-clean enough since you'll be distracted by those big flashes and the wonderful shape! When does it arrive? Do you know what you're going to do with it?

I adore this Erika Winters Virginia halo for a moval:

Love how weird this is! What is the size?

It’s very cartoonish to me. Totally my jam! It’s 2.72 cts.

Do you have a video? I’m so curious about its proportions.

Gorgeous!!! I love antique movals. Personality galore!!!

Here’s a gorgeous rose cut ring in Georgian style. (SOLD.)

I love the setting and I’m guessing this might be a modern interpretation versus actual Georgian. It’s so romantic.

Parks Fine Group posts newly cut high domed Rose Cuts sometimes. Larger true antiques are almost non existent.

me too! I love the details of the band and am totally taking the setting for modern inspiration.
glad that this dealer's price is not affordable anyway:lol-2:

WOW @LightBright. I instantly feel in love with this setting. Does anyone know if this setting could be remade by David Klass?

I’m certain it can be done by DK!

I think one of my rings is Georgian. The early 18th century rings have this very typical Georgian style of a wider diameter, but thinner width shank. This makes them more easy to bend out of shape, like a cigar band would bend, fyi. A little more fragile perhaps. Georgian rings all seem to have different decorative elements.

I think this one might be modern Georgian style because of the decorative elements. My mom had Victorian sterling tableware with a posy motif, and Tiffany and George Jensen has tableware called Acorn with similar filials. The ring looks like it has a mashup which works IMO.

FYI, I see Parks Fine Group offers custom high dome rose cuts in natural and lab. Goals.

Still thinking about this one. Where’s my money tree?
