I just had the Brite Smile done and am very pleased with the results. According to the photos and samples, my teeth were lightened several shades. If I want to, I can come back in a few weeks and they will do another treatment without charge. It cost $525 with the $75 discount coupon.

I had no problem with sensitivity or irritation and it took about an hour. As to safety, I do not know about that. I do not think I will go back for a second treatment although it is free because my teeth are white enough and I do not want to have too much exposure just in case. I also bought their toothpaste ( $17 a tube) and the special whitening pens for maintenance.

I understand the whitening strips give better results after you have had the professional whitening treatment.

my teeth hurt just reading this!

codex, if you are only whitening for pictures, consider this...the photographer can airbrush your teeth white without any pain (teeth or pocketbook!

best of luck to you!

We have a product here in the states called "Gly-Oxide", a mixture of 10% carbamide peroxide and glycerine. It''s advertised for mouth sores, gum irritation, and the like. A little on your toothbrush with a dab of toothpaste twice a day during regular brushing is all it takes. Superior product for maintenance whitening. Will also visibly improve non-whitened teeth after a few weeks. Smokers and coffee/tea drinkers, this tip''s for you!

Gly-oxide and is about the same formulation as Proxi-Gel. Good luck finding it though! That''s what we used to tell patients to get when tooth whitening trays first gained popularity. It used to be sold on the shelf at pharmacies, then they started putting behind the counter where you had to ask the pharmacist for it. Now, I''m having people tell me they can''t find it anymore. Perhaps it''s still available in some areas of the country, I''m in the Southeast and that''s pretty much the story around here.

That''s interesting, Pearcrazy. I wonder why it''s so scarce up there. I''m in the middle of Texas and it''s available in almost every grocery store. Here''s a link with a very good price on 2 oz. of product, (about $10). Usually, 0.5 oz. runs about $5 in the stores here.

I just did a touch up with my trays...and the advice about using the sensodyn toothpaste was the bomb! Thank you thank you thank you! Made the experience much easier to bear!

Note: I did it after my 6 month cleaning because the hygenist told me that it''s the best time for touch ups!

Just a little update I was reading Good Housekeeping and they said the most effective one was the one made by Crest but that none of the at home one worked at well at the ones at your dentists office.
