Tennis Bracelet Clasp

Thank you, I love your ideas because I would really like to figure this out. If I fashioned my necklace to be roughly the same size as the bracelet, it still has a bit of stiffness but nowhere near as much as the bracelet. However, necklace is about 9 months old and smaller diamonds compared to bracelet. Gerry commented up above that he think stiffness is good as it means the hinges are tight and will get looser in time. I also wonder if the diamonds are set too high adding a clunkiness aspect to it which could be contributing. Mine are about 4mm tall from bottom of the setting to top of the prongs. If you have a measuring tool handy, as a science experiment hehe, would love to know how how tall your setting is since we almost have twin bracelets.

In the name of science!!…..The height of mine is approximately 4mm as well, but the clasp end is chunkier at around 6mm. The width is around 4mm. The end where the balls that the figure 8 clasps fit into is around 8mm wide.

These measurements are approximate as I do not have calipers, I’m using my trusty old tape measure so could be out slightly!

I’m thinking yours would be slightly larger as it is 6.5 inches and mine is 7 inches. Not sure how many diamonds in yours but mine has 44 which is around .24 - .25 carats each (.2427 if they are all the same size, which I doubt). You need to take that into account as well. The larger the diamond, the larger the setting.

The two outside clasps are what I am referring to as 'figure 8' clasps Kel.
Hard to say if it is too high - but every bracelet photo being worn here are too large and need some diamonds removed or they will catch and break.
Each link will grow about 0.3mm longer over a few years of wear. Then they wiggle more and wear much faster.
The dirt is the abrasive that causes the wear so weekly cleaning in very hot or boiling water with Ammonia and dish detergent and a good scrub or an ultrasonic cleaner extends the life of the bracelet by 3 times. And makes the diamonds shine more.
The cheapest vibrating (fake ultrasonics) work beautifully:

Thank you for the tips Garry.
I’ve often thought mine was a bit too long so I will look at shortening it to avoid disaster.

How much larger than your wrist measurement did you go for your bracelet? I was warned about this too but prefer bracelets a bit big. So I went back and forth a million times.

My calipers need a new battery so same here! Thank you so much for all the measurements. Yes mine are a bit bigger since my bracelet is shorter, great point!! Thank you so much for all your help, I’ll wait to hear from my jeweler and go from there but this has been so helpful trying to figure this out! It’s a big investment purchase so I just want to make the right decision. Thank you!

My wrist is 6.25 inches. Bracelet is a little over 7 inches when I take into account the release mechanism. I purchased it from an online auction site so did not get a choice of length, I just wanted at least 10 carats.

I have another bracelet that fits snugly on my wrist and it annoys the heck out of me, especially when the weather is hot and humid (now!). It is a different style though, with ten 10mm x 10mm clover style pave motifs one side, and onyx the other (it can be worn either way), so a lot wider and heavier. I’m always adjusting it on my wrist.

With that in mind, I think I’ll to leave my tb the length it currently is!
