now before anyone gets too mad at me, all my stones were meticulously extracted from their prior mounts and the settings are safe and ready for their next center stone.
I know this won’t everyone’s cup of tea- some might even consider it a downgrade. But, c'est la vie.
when I acquired a fancy brownish yellow diamond recently I felt it was not set to its “full potential” in a platinum mount. The color is a remarkable antique gold color, and I wanted the setting to enhance that.
Here she was before.
I had the twins in a two stone setting that was beautiful as well, but something I always knew would be temporary. They were waiting for me to find a 3rd diamond with a matching faceting. And wouldn’t you know it- here we are.
Here the twins are in their last mount.
I sent it to dk with a very clear vision. I wanted three stone setting.
This was the inspiration:
Dk worked with me to get the exact style I wanted. Including a modification that made the basket bar think and luxurious
Having my larger fingers I thought it would be just wide enough to fit the top of my hand without going over. The cads were perfect. However- a nagging voice in my head had me do something I never do - get a wax.
The wax came and as I had feared, the diamonds were not comfortable on my hand. More than that, the big block of diamonds weren’t as flattering as I thought they would be.
A touch disappointing because I had designed and imagined this down to a t.
But! Back to the drawing board!
I looked for inspiration all over. Toyed with the idea of a dinner ring or a bypass style - I was all over the place. All I knew was that I wanted to wear all three diamonds together.
When searching for keywords that might result in anything I stumbled onto this photo.
Now this is obviously two rings but it was a real lightbulb moment. After showering the internet for these tri/clover type designs I sent my ideas of to DK.
after many interactions we nailed down the design. I will show you the first and last cad- I won’t bore you with the middle.
After all that- I picked up my ring today. I want to say a huge thank you to David Klass for their always amazing work (I can be very annoying with cads!) and @athenaworth for everything she does for me including listening to me run through 7640 different ideas.
Now- photos. Please notice the cute engraving I added to the inside as well as the shank detail. It’s the little things! It is now so much more “me” and I’m thrilled.
