Hot off the press!!! Just finished this! Omg so much sewing!

DS has a birthday coming up and he never wants much. I made this for him because for years now he has this plastic sphere with nubs that he loves to tie wool/string to and swing around.

I knit and do lots of party type decor. Here are a few examples.. Made this banner for a birthday party and this poncho last year….

You are beautiful! Never has a poncho looked so chic!

I am still hand dying yarn for knitters/weavers/crochet crafters as well as now weaving a bit myself and started to expand into some jewelery making. I do love to dye clothing too so I’ve been dying all sorts of things!

Your all so talented, I wish I knew how to do stuff like that.

My dad's birthday is October 30 so, time to make a shirt. He much more prefers this type of thing over purchased things these days. Perfect shirt to watch football in...lol

Material is Balenciaga dead stock. I got lucky to get it on sale, because it was gone very quickly after I got mine (only 4 yards) I used 2 yard for the shirt.

Then I made my mother a very nice but simple day dress that she can wear around the house No elastic as my mom has lupus and I didn't want to add it in the arms which can be irritating. This is also deadstock fabric but very pretty Japanese made cotton lawn. Yes it has pockets!!

@Arcadian I would love to see an update on the two French jackets (Chanel like) that you were working on. Pictures would be great!

My latest sewing involved cutting my weighted blanket in half (it was too heavy) and finishing it with bias tape. Not very exciting but then again most of my sewing isn't.

I had actually stopped working on it...lol No reason. I have the sleeves on, that was painful to do but I have to do all the hand sewing now for the inside which as soon as I sit down to do it, I get a dog in my face. :roll2:

I used to love knitting and made all sorts of baby clothes for my own and friends children. A few blankets too. My daughters favourite toy is “Bun Bun” who I made when I was pregnant. Unfortunately I have the beginnings of arthritis in my fingers and my right forefinger is the worst because if all the knitting. It’s too uncomfortable for me to knit now.

I do like to do arts and crafts with the kids though. And we did a lot during lock down.

Do you have a website for the bowls that are on this post the pink hearts and the red… Maybe poppy?

Putting this here because some of you will understand:

I got a pair of Ernest Wright scissors. AND they're lefties! (took 6 months to get them!)
:kiss2:

:appl:

They're big, 10 inches to be exact, but OMG, cut through heavy material like butter. These were purchased specifically for heavy noils, wool, and suiting.

Finished his shirt for Christmas (he loves it!)

Liberty London Tana Lawn Material from their 2021 season. It was deadstocked so I paid 21.00/yard for it and used 2 yards. Liberty London can be pretty pricey stuff, so I was happy to had gotten this for the price.

I used vintage mother of pearl buttons. They're super gorgeous with this shirt.

Anyway he loves it.

@Arcadian your work is breathtaking!

High praise! He and I thank you! With something like this, you just have to commit to it and let it be what it is. His eyes totally lit up when I took this out of the package, so I knew what it was meant to be!

Each project I complete, I've hopefully upped my game some. Thats always the goal.

@Arcadian, You can forget about upping your game. You have already achieved the pinnacle! It‘s so much fun seeing your latest creation.

Thank you! Thats super high praise, and I appreciate it. We have a lot of super talented people here, glad to be counted among them!

I try not to have too many UFO's hanging about and finish a project. To that end, those jackets are still sitting there. I'll be working on them after the new year when I have a bigger block of time because of all the hand sewing required. If I did more hand sewing I probably would get faster wouldn't hate it so much...lol

One that I forgot! I cut this dress out but um... well...its a bit big.

Its a size 16 , which SHOULD have fit me. (pattern sizing is closure to couture sizing and no where near ready to wear sizing) Based on the amount of ease in this pattern, I really should have just cut a 14, but I thought it might to be too close fitting in the arms. yeah should have just did a 14.

This ponte knit is one I've had a while but never used. I don't know why...stupidity I guess because it feels heavenly.

My phone is copper (Rose Gold) so you're seeing that reflecting in all these pictures....lol

Its got an invisible zipper, which was pretty easy to put in. I also had to hand make those back button loops (that was a pain in the ass frankly). Loops are made with silk buttonhole thread and elastic. then handstitched in place. The buttons are actually discontinued swarovski jean buttons, but they work in this thicker fabric without being droopy.

20221123_094847.jpg

I overlocked each piece prior to sewing it together so my inside looked tidy.

20221123_094920.jpg

Almost all of the outter seamlines had to be top stitched, which meant that all my intersections had to be dead on. I managed that for the most part. I didn't do under the arm though I could have. it was a painful experience just thinking of doing it...lol
20221123_094717.jpg

However I had no choice really when I inserted the sleeve. I did have to go under the arm (it was easy enough though)

Your so talented, I wish I could sew. It's lovey and just my size, lol.

Your sewing is excellent @Arcadian ! Wish I had that kind of skill!

On the hand-sewing...some of the blogs I read about making a jacket said they thought the hand-sewing part was relaxing:lol:.
For me, hand-sewing can be relaxing until I realize its not coming out right and have to start over! Then it becomes a PITA and
I just want it done!

Not quite as talented as some of the ladies here but these are some of my DIY Christmas ornaments...

20221114_231721.jpeg

Those are so cool! I love your christmas tree btw, and yes this take plenty of talent to do right! don't sell yourself short!

Thank you for the compliment! its highly appreciated!

They don't have 2 crazy dogs apparently...lol Its like they KNOW when I'm going to do something that requires lots of concentration. I'm always amazed I can get enough work done (Gigi does come in and talk to me during meetings, especially if I'm talking. Then of course sticks her little pointy head up so people can see her on camera

I've tried hand sewing around them while we're all hanging out on the floor (right in front of the tv are three dog beds for all of us) and it can go either way. Sometimes I can sew in peace and that seems to happen on small things, others, forget it, Gigi is all up under whatever I'm trying to sew. Then there's Lucky swatting me or her sister for attention and both can raise such a ruckus that I give up.

Oh thank you, that was kind of you to say! =)2
