i''m sorry i dont have any specs yet... i think it looks like a carat, but its very shallow/poorly cut.
my hubby and i were not at all diamond savy... we new NOTHING actually.
and we are now in the market to buy a new center stone, but we will be taking our time learning everything we can.
i have really enjoyed reading all i can about diamonds. and i hope you will all help me with this.
i love my rings... they are better then nothing. but i cant wait to love them THAT MUCH MORE, when i know exactly what it is that i''ve got.

ok i give up trying to post photo's so here is a link to my rings currently.


here are the rough details. it's currently diamonds and sapphires. The center stone is approximately 1/3 marquese (sp) cut most likely a i/j in color and it's probably an i1/i2 in clarity. There are actually 4 rings here. We paid somewhere in the 600-700 dollar range for the center stone at a mall store (before we knew any better). We recently were in the mall stores to check out their quality and size of my upgrade so I'd know what it looks like in person (more later on that) and they offered me only 500 dollars for my center stone to upgrade...I was appalled. The center stone, the wrap, the plain and original wedding band and the sapphire and diamond anniversary band. The larger diamond and sapphire set were purchased 8 years ago for our 2 year anniversary. The anniversary band was purchased about 4 years ago. it took me a very long time to find one that matched and would fit flush under my setting. I love the way it looks. We purchased the upgrade set when we didn't know much about diamonds. For the record, my original engagement ring had a diamond about the side of the marquise sapphires maybe a little smaller. It's still one of the most beautiful diamonds i've ever seen, it has so much brilleance to it for being what it is.


Now, my new diamond upgrade for our 10 year anniversary (12/12) is going to be anywhere from a .45 to .58 carat D VS2 round brilliant in white gold. It has at the very least very good symmetry and polish and i believe zero flourecence. It is IGI certified. We purchased it from a television auction channel that will remain nameless at this point. We got from my research from what I can tell a very good deal on this setting. It's in white gold. We paid 1099.00 for it and all of the research online at various places suggest a price of anywhere from 1250 to 2900.00! when i get the igi cert i'll post the rest of the specs and you can tell me if i got as good of a deal as I thought or if I should send it back. Now here's my questions:



Hubby wants me to get a white gold wrap to go with it, something with sapphires to sorta match what I already have. I kind of want to reset it into a tension setting but I am VERY hard on my jewelry so i'm concerned about durability. Also if we were to find a wrap for it, where is a good place to look online? All of the jewelry stores in the malls are overpriced and have a poor quality.
