The Forum Engagement Ring Folder/Eye Candy

bellapoo » 15 Oct 2011 18:05 I've known for some time exactly what style of wedding ring I want, so when we went to our jeweler, it took no time at all to decide on my perfect ring! I'm so excited. I'm already having a difficult time keeping it in the box--and our wedding isn't until July! It's going to be a long 9 months until I get to wear this pretty!

Hi everyone!

I've drooled over so many posters' antique rings on PS for a long time and now I am the proud owner of an OEC (or should I say three OECs!) I was so lucky to be unexpectedly gifted this beautiful OEC three stone ring. What happened is my family and I went to visit my grandmother today, and knowing how much I love jewelry, she gave me this beauty. Whoa, what a cool surprise! I'm not sure how old it is, but my grandmother is 92 years old so it's been around for a while! These OECs are gorgeous in person and incredibly white. They throw off a lot of fire and colorful flashes! It's the first time I've ever seen an OEC in person and now I know what all the fuss is about. I love the tiny tables and high crowns. The shank of this ring is yellow gold, and the bezels and side scroll details are either platinum or white gold. I'll treasure this ring because it'll remind me of my wonderful grandmother. Hope you enjoy the pics.

My ring is on its way, somewhere between Houston and Chicago!

It is set with a 1.56 8.03x6.06mm H VS1 Emerald cut diamond (re-cut by BGD and then purchased by us on the secondary market)
My ring size is 4.5
The setting is unplated 14k white gold

So, I made a silly, dumb mistake. I accidentally ordered the Melissa (a half-round shank) when all along, I wanted the Melanie (knife edge shank!) So, so dumb. Its getting sent back before I see it to get knife edged, and then I won't see it again until he decides i get to

Back in April, I bought an OEC and proceeded to take quite awhile to have it set. I had looked for an OEC for about a year and ended up getting a better stone than I had ever anticipated. It originally looked like this and the ring was too large to even wear on my thumb:

Original men's art deco setting
Close again1.jpeg (116.35 KiB) Viewed 661 times

My setting ideas went through a few iterations, then I sent the stone off to Leon Mege along with a few drawings I had. Well, he wasn't very excited about a some of my ideas, but was prepared to indulge my original desire for half moon side stones. However, I really, really wanted chunky antique cut half moons, but a pair in a size/color that went with my center stone did not surface. Leon spent a few months looking and calling in a ton of sidestones, but didn't find anything suitable. So, he then asked if he could send me pictures of my stone with some other side stone options. He's made two other pieces of jewelry for me that I love, so he knows my taste and preferences. I had told him that I wanted the ring to be fairly simple and no pave, so he came up with a few french cut side options, kite/shield sides, and baguettes. Well, I liked the french cuts but wanted a smaller version, so he hunted down some petite frenchies then had them trimmed a bit more. I'm really happy with the final results!

These were a wedding day gift from my DH (married in July, just getting around to posting); he had his brother/best man deliver them to me while I was getting ready along with a love letter that almost made me ruin my makeup!
They are approx .60 ctw for the pair; BGD Signature F/G VS melee. Super white and sparkly. They looked perfect in our wedding pictures and are great for everyday wear!
First the glamour shots from BGD:

Greetings...

After soliciting the help of PS (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/help-me-choose-please-pictures-inside.166306/), I pulled the trigger on a Brian Gavin Blue diamond, in their Classic Tiffany-Style Half Round setting. Having never seen blue fluorescence in a diamond, I had them send me the stone for an evaluation, and I checked it over in a variety of lighting conditions. The stone was absolutely gorgeous, and looked great in direct sunlight.

Fast forward, the ring is done and on its way to me (though FedEx goofed up and sent it to some other random place 250 miles away, so it'll need to be recalled and re-shipped). Behold the "glamour shots".

Proposal scheduled for the week of November 1, when I'll be taking a trip with my hopefully soon-to-be fiance and a group of friends to the Dominican Republic.

New ring #1! Diamond from David a DBL, GIA X cut, K color, SI2 .70cts, wearing it as an RHR

Scores a 2.5 on the HCA, nice arrows and symmetry with the viewer, very bright and fun!

Eventually want it in a nice bezel three stone but couldn't let it rot in a box! Got the temp setting in 14kwg around .20cts from jewelryhoo on ebay. Once this stone gets it's permanent home I have a nice blue green tourmaline that will be going in here.

The other ring is it with my ER, diamond and setting also from David at DBL, GIA 1.06 ct, L color, VS1, halo in 14k wg, about .27cts. Wedding band with ER is a curved baguette and round band found at Zales, about .30cts.

All rings are about a 6.25.

and ring #2! The new ring is the twist band and I found it right here in our pre-loved section! Originally from Kylie Ann Metals on Etsy. Shown here with my amethyst and diamond rose cut band from JBEG.

The twist band is unplated white gold. I actually like the color of it just fine but all of my other white gold is plated so it doesn't match when I stack it. I will probably have it dipped the next time I take in a few of my things.

My boyfriend proposed on October 8th with this beautiful cushion cut ring with trapezoid side diamonds that I've been stalking on a vintage ring website for years. It's gorgeous, sparkly, and I think it looks bigger than it actually is! I'm thrilled to be wearing it and can't stop looking at it, really.

The first photo is from the day we got engaged (I had been doing manual labor all day and my nails were destroyed!) The other is after a good manicure a few days later! :)

Hello Everyone! I'd like to introduce you to my ER. This was purchased pre-PS, so we got an uncerted diamond (scandalous! ) and all I know is that it's a .48 ct Marquise in a 14 kt wg band. The band has eight tiny diamonds in it. I have a matching WB, but I prefer this little diamond band with it.

Hello Psers,
after Jill S & lbbaber gave their excellent reviews about ID jewelry huggies ,I decided to order a pair .I ordered 2 ctw in 18 Kt WG .they arrived today .they are very white & sparkly and eyeclean ,I took cool fire pics of them .I was very happy until I put them on ! the diamonds only show from the side view ,the front view only shows the hoops themselves ,diamonds barely showing . so calling all huggie owners ,is this a problem with you too ?

well finally after the FedEx fiasco (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/fedex-left-package-and-now-it-is-missing.166240/page-2) I have my wedding band and have gotten around to taking pictures!

my wedding band is a custom order 2.2 mm width 1.5 mm height comfort fit platinum band from e-weddingbands.com. I wanted something between 2 mm and 3 mm to better match my ering.

FI's wedding band is this style (http://www.larsonjewelers.com/p-70-bridgeport-flat-satin-finish-tungsten-carbide-ring-6mm-10mm.aspx) in 6 mm width from Larson Jewelers. I found Larson Jewelers online when looking for tungsten wedding bands and was impressed with the amount of information they provide as well as the fact that they will replace the band for life if we need a different size. Initially we ordered an 8, which was slightly large, so we ordered a 7.5, which was too small. I spoke with someone in customer service and he said that they could make the band a 7 3/4, even though this is not listed on their website. They made the band and sent it to us to ensure it fit, and then we sent it back for engraving.

I would definitely recommend Larson Jewelers for anyone looking for a tungsten band, their shipping was fast and their customer service was very good.

OK, now pics!

Hi All,

Thanks to the forum, I became an educated diamond shopper who was able to design a ring that met both my girlfriends desires and my budget. I ended up with a .8 ct RB center stone, VS1, I color, set in a platinum band with 40 side stones totalling .3 carats. I think its absolutely beautiful, and the best part is my girlfriend picked the band out herself (at a jewelry store) but thought I couldnt afford it (until I found pricescope's online retailers!). The stone scored a .7 on the HCA and a 1B on the ACA/NAJA cut tool. It is absolutely stunning in the light! Sorry about the poor photos - all I have is my cell phone camera for now

Im planning on asking her in a few weeks when we go to Cabo. I've rented a private sailboat to take us around lover's beach at sunset with wine, roses, and dinner... I think she will be swept off her feet

Before I show off the ring, I need to give the backstory

I contacted quite a few vendors here on PS and they were all great but just didn't have the particular halo cushion style that I was looking for. As I was looking through the "Show Me the Bling" section of this forum, I came across a BEAUTIFUL halo cushion engagement ring and I knew that was the one! Turns out it was a custom ring designed by Mark from ERD so I was certain it's out of my budget but I contacted him anyway to see how much.
Just after a few emails back and forth asking what particular style setting and center stone size I was looking for, he was able to give me a quote which was a GREAT price for a custom ring but still above my budget. However, Mark was able to make very slight adjustments to the ring to save on costs and even offer a military discount (as he was a member of the armed forces also) and got the ring right within my budget! I couldn't believe that a jeweler that I had no prior relationship with would bend over backwards to please his customer.
He was even willing to ship the ring before I made the full payment (had some unexpected issues with the bank) so I can have the ring in time for the planned proposal!

Now let's get to the ring. Wow... just wow. The pictures and CAD can not justify how beautiful this ring is. I was a bit nervous about if my fiance' will like the ring since she had no input on the type/size of the ring but she was completely speechless when she saw it. She has heard nothing but compliments wherever she goes (no exaggeration).

Now for the pictures.. (sorry I'm not the best photographer)

This little old lady has a new love. While celebrating our wedding date and staying at a mountaintop resort in NC last week, my sweet husband gave me this gift. But the design decisions and the purchase of the diamond were a good part of my summer activities. However, I didn't want to wear the ring until we were at our celebration location. Now if my computer skills are adequate, I'll post a few photos:

I wanted to update my RT thread and say thank you to everyone who helped me, most notably LGK, Gypsy, and Dreamer. And an extra HUGE thanks to MrsSalvo without whom I would not have found this ring!

The ring features an old cut diamond weighing between 1.32 -1.38 ct (7.09 mm) set in a vintage platinum mounting dating back to Dec 25, 1928 (per the engraving). The appraiser said the stone was an F-G, VS1 (despite a couple of microscopic nicks on the girdle). She called it an old european, but the good symmetry makes me wonder if it's more of a transitional cut? She also said that the mounting was made all by hand. The side stones are also old europeans weighing an additional 27 points. And the best part is that it cost well below my original 7k budget. I feel very lucky!

Hello, New to PS and very excited to show off my gorgeous new ring. I posted in 1-2ct centre stone thread as well.

Centre stone is 1.06 F SI1
2 sides are .51 & .52 E VS1
channel and surprise stones are unknown (anniversary ring and earrings from WAAAAAYYY back before I knew what I know now --- thank you PS!)
18 K wg/palladium
ring size 7.5

Its a redesign of my 20th anniversary e ring upgrade. A girl can't have enough diamonds, you know... oh wait - of course you all know!

She's a real beauty! I'm very happy (except the sides need to be thinner...not a fan of 'puffy'. Get enough of that with my hands - don't want it on the ring!)

Well, Oak Gem came through! I previously posted in Hangout about finding my dream seven stone Tiffany diamond band on Oak Gem at about 44% of the actual retail price (yay!). Admitedly I was slightly nervous waiting for it to arrive because I have never bought anything second hand sight unseen, but the positive reviews Oak Gem received on PS made me feel a lot better. Anyway, the ring arrived in excellent condition (as stated) and I hopped over to Tiffany during my lunch break for a free cleaning and minor polish (more of a buff than a full on polish - they have to send it to NY for a full on polish and I don't think it's necessary yet). I took a few not so good pictures with my phone both outside and inside my office; I will try to take better pictures with my camera soon. The ring sparkles like crazy and I absolutely love it with my e-ring - exactly what I always pictured! Oh, to recap it's 0.56 ctw (8 points each), platinum, G/VS diamonds, size 4.5. And for reference my e-ring is 1.23 carats. Thanks for looking!

REAL stats... The band is 14K white gold, no maker's hallmark, it has 16 points of diamonds G-Si1, and 27 points of high grade Emeralds (most likely treated) that glow like you wouldn't believe.

Size 6.5. Realistic value on the band, without knowing who makes it, is about $900 -- not the $2,000 inflated value

For scale:
My pave wedding band is 2mm wide and 2 mm high. And my shank on my engagement ring is hovering at 1.8-1.9 these days (need calipers!). I didn't measure the band but I think it's about 2mm wide and 1.5mm high off the finger.
