oh wow! @mrs-b the complementary tones and hues of this ring are just sublime! i think the warm rosy pinky gold prongs and shank are just perfect against the bright white diamond surround and jammy gemmy spinel!!

also find the subtle texture of the band very beautiful and visually intereseting playing up the warm tones of the gold

@mrs-b it is beautiful. The rose gold shank is inspired, elegant and very fluid. It contrasts subtly with the halo and the purple spinel. Everything a ring should be.

@mrs-b, I adore this ring, it's perfect from every angle! And the color of that spinel and the cut, again, just perfect!

Thank you so much, @Big Fat Facets, @caf, @Yelena and @junebug17. :))

These were vendor photos, so I don't have the ring in hand as yet, but I can clearly see that I'm going to LOVE this ring. It's a real beauty and will be unlike anything I already have. This will be my one and only halo and - combined with the rose gold - is a visually interesting and unusual ring.

Loving it!

ETA The spinel is from Finewater Gems and is a 3.84ct IF Burmese purple spinel - 9.2mm x 7.8mm. The setting is from DKJ and is, as always, gorgeous.

@mrs-b

may i ask if the diamonds are full cut diamonds surrounding your spinel?? it appears to be from the images ...

OMG, I gasped when I saw the reset of your purple spinel. Can you adopt me @mrs-b??

@mrs-b , Wow! This ring is gorgeous. I love the rose gold with the purple. It’s a
beautiful addition to your collection.

@Chasiu, The rings in your aviator are beautiful. Your stack of rings look so pretty together.

Hot damn! It looks so good with the rose gold shank. I love the way it plays up the color of the spinel. I can’t wait to see your pics! :kiss2:

Side note: I’m still really loving that you set it E-W.

This is my new 1.05ct G SI1 6.43mm AVR. I had a choice between this and a 1.07ct G VS2 AVR, and chose this one because this one has just one tiny flea bite in it that went under a prong and is also the tiniest smidge more spready.

I'll eventually put it in a different setting, but I'm still going back and forth on it a trifle, so asked DKJ to set it into a plain soli setting I had in the meantime. I bought the shank on LT, then DKJ put a new head on it for me. Altho I plan to change it in the new year, I absolutely love the simplicity of it for now: it's the classic 1ct solitaire in platinum.

Me too, @MamaBee! It's just so simple and elegant and a real classic.

When you say flea bite...is it a natural? Libby has a natural. It’s very tiny..It’s a vs1 so not a big deal. Mine is under a prong because it’s so small. if you remember I freaked out at the beginning of joining Pricescope because I thought it was a chip. I actually took it to an independent appraiser who laughed and told me what it was. I wouldn’t hesitate to get one in my upgrade. It’s better than a black inclusion!

I'm not sure, to be honest. I'd have called it a pinpoint - but what specifically it is? Not sure. it's cleaner than the VS2 I looked at, tho. Take out that one tiny mark and it's totally clean. She's a beautiful diamond. And - yes! Prongs can be a very useful tool, can't they!

You picked another good one @mrs-b..I lucked out when I purchased my diamond fifteen years ago...Libby’s inclusions are on the edge..one of which is a natural. With the prong on it Libby looks flawless...That’s why it was so hard for me to find even a vs1 without something on the table when I was looking for my studs. I wound up purchasing vvs2s. It seems clarity grades are relaxing or someone had a liquid lunch when grading some of the diamonds...
I‘m looking forward to hand pics of your beautiful diamond! :kiss2:

I looked at that 1.05 for so long when I was upgrading from my .76! Very very tempted, and also by the 1.07. I ended up going very very different with a Solasfera because neither were quite big enough to be my forever (I already had hurt my wife's feelings by bringing up upgrading at all, so I wanted to do it and then be done), and then realized the error of my ways going modern, and ended up with a 1.35 AVC instead, which is what I should have gone with to begin with. Anyway, I've loved this stone for a long time and I love the simple setting too!

Wow! That’s really creative of you.... I would never have thought to take plain band and have a custom head put on it. Very creative and clever! Very chic! Can’t wait to see what you will put it in next year!!

Lovely ring. Classic and just beautiful, and a lovely size on your hands.

May I ask a bit of a side question - I have seen that you have a mix of modern and antique style cuts. Do you have thoughts on the differences? I have an early round brilliant but the cut is subpar - so not a real comparison to me.

Are there things you like about one over the other?

I feel I am a fence sitter and might enjoy owning both, but am curious as I have seen some folks ardently prefer true antiques or antique styles, whereas other prefer modern brilliants.

I have gone back and forth, for instance, on modern or antique cut diamond studs.

Thank you so much, @LLJsmom :wavey:

Hi @Cerulean :)) I love both cuts. The main difference to my eye is that a round brilliant seems to have a more obvious visual center, which draws the eye. Because of that, to set an old cut, I like halos, as it sort of provides visual context for the wider facets.

I think my favorite cut is an August Vintage cushion. They're not to everybody's taste, but they're definitely to mine! I love the ideal light return that you get with an AVR, while still getting those high crowns and small tables - what a profile! Love 'em! And they have a very clear visual center without compromising their old world feel. Just a gorgeous, gorgeous cut!

So. That was basically no help at all! I definitely think - if you love both - you should definitely have - at least a little!- of both And I have both modern and genuine antique studs. Both are gorgeous!

Setting has a lot of effect in this situation, so I'd love to know what sort of setting you're considering!
