The Forum Engagement Ring Folder/Eye Candy

I have learned, through much trial and error, that I prefer bands that don’t compete with my solitaire. If I’m going somewhere where I don’t want to wear the solitaire, I’ll wear a thicker band.

I’m worried it competes.

I freely admit that I’m a bigger is better type of girl!
That said, I went in today to responsibly and sedately purchase a dainty melee eternity band that would quietly whisper behind my 3.09 F color elongated cushion cut cathedral set e-ring.
But the moment this big bold 2.1 carat F/VS1 platinum channel-set eternity band winked at me I was a goner.
I know it’s a lot.
But. Well, I know this forum is the correct place to admit our shortcomings so here we are.
Yes. I know many would like to see a perfectly proportioned eternity but, holy cow, these two were instantly attracted to each other and together they feel like a million bucks on the hand.
Have not purchased.
Still considering.
So thoughts welcome!

I think your oval can handle that eternity, size-wise, but I think it's the way that they sit together that's a bit 'off'. If you want that specific eternity, consider how it would look if your oval was set east/west rather than north/south. The rings would sit together better and the lower third of the oval wouldn't get lost against the eternity. That would markedly improve the balance between the two, and I think they'd look great together at that point.

Just a thought.

@Efleon, I read your post a few times and it's clear you love this look! I say go for it! I think the two rings are well proportioned and work together.

I already posted these in another thread but thought I should do so here as well. I've ogled the rings in this thread for years, I'm so thrilled to get to join you! :kiss2: Sorry they are not the best pics, I'm still figuring out how to take good diamond pics. It's so hard to capture her beauty in a photo, which I suppose is part of the magic of diamonds!
I adore this! Your e ring is gorgeous and I love the addition of the tiny gold band on your index finger. I love the mixed metals and the blend of delicate and casual with icy cool drama! Perfection!

Wow @mrs-b !
I would have never thought of that and I think I can see what you mean.
But. I love my cathedral setting as it is. Traditional.
I’m not “wed” (see what I did there! Haha) to the eternity yet so if something gets changed it will be that not the ering.
Great eye you have!

It’s hard to explain but I’ll try.
Being perfectly honest, it is a little “much”.
But that’s only when I view the set directly face on and straight.
Which we all know rarely if ever happens.
As I move throughout my day I see it from the side/back/etc as well as when the rings are exactly next to each other and apart.
And I gotta say I like it then.
The only time I’m a little on the fence is a static “posed” shot.
Does this make sense?

Sure, it makes sense! Maybe try some smaller/lower carat weight bands with it and see what you think.

Thank you so much @Lakefront ! I'm so excited to be engaged, it's such a fun time. I'm getting lots of praise on my "rock" so I'm learning that for where I live 2.5 carats is pretty big! You forget sometimes that Pricescope can skew one's perspective. Anyway I am thrilled to get to wear this absolutely gorgeous sparkler and even more thrilled that I get to marry the best person I know.

Here is my cushion e-ring with my two French cut bands.

The diamond Frenchie is 2.5 carats but looks much smaller that the 2.10 carat modern band I’m considering.
I just had a hankering for something modern that matched the new cathedral setting….for days that I want to change it up.

That's both elegant and delicious. Wow.

Anyone recall Motownmama (me) helping nephew buy a WF ACA? His plans were for Thanksgiving weekend; so it’s FINALLY on her hand! Yeah!

What is this stone and who made this ring? Forgive me if it was posted elsewhere but this stops me in my tracks every time I see it. I couldn't drive if I were wearing this ring. I wouldn't be able to look up.

Oh my gosh, what a compliment, thank you so much! The diamond is an old mine cut 1.18 carats sold to me as champagne, it was in an okay setting but I sent it to David Klass and had him make a custom setting for it. Oh and she has a name, Goldilocks! Here is the thread on her if you want to see the before pic:

I like Your ring better with this channel set band you considering.

Wow!!!!!!! This is gorgeous. Tell me
More about this set. :appl:

Hi! Ty! It’s actually a set I pieced together! I went to the LA jewelry mart and picked out this stock setting. I had the top band. And then bottom band is a Kirk Kara that I purchased estate! They all seem to match bc of the bezeled diamonds.

Some time ago this fabulous forum helped me to make a decision on a ring. I have enjoyed it ever since! It is just such a pretty, sparkly, little thing! I think the method that Garry Hallway has developed and made accessible to all of us is nothing short of amazing. It takes so much guessing out of the game!
All pictures were taken with my old I-phone, no editing at all. The ring REALLY DOES sparkle like that and actually even more in the sun!

I just had the 3-stone head re-done with a center upgrade for our 15th! (it's actually only our 14th anniversary this year but I'm calling this the 15th gift!)

There's a lot of wear on the platinum band, but I LOVE IT! The new center stone is 1.19 carat VVS2 H color. [EDIT] It's lab-grown and was absolutely worth it!

How do you manage to get anything done with this gorgeous ring on?? I would spend all my time staring at it!
