The Heidi Horten Collection

OK, that's it -- enough with the thought control. Have you asked yourself why people keep posting here about the Nazi origins of this famous fortune? I think you are a hemisphere away from the crime scene but it still resonates for much of the developed world. I hope it casts an appropriate pall over this sale but evidently it will make no difference in some quarters.

Of course I am aware of the Nazi link but I don’t need people to shove it in my face either. There is already another thread in this forum where it was brought up. This is a jewellery forum. If I wanted to talk politics or history I would go somewhere else to find like minded people.

I was planning to post more pics n videos but clearly some people have reservations over the linkages. So just one. Because it’s too beautiful not to share. For a few minutes today, I held/wore the Sunrise ruby.

I have a somewhat inactive Ig account and will post there later.

Oh please share the pics here @icy_jade ???

This is a jewelry forum and not even Hangout at that.

If I wanted a lecture on morality I would not be hanging out here. Same as if I were on a mainstream cooking forum, I would not expect to be lectured on the evils of my consumption habits.

So please please please post the rest of the pics!!!!!

Yes Yummie! and thank you.

Oh that red. Such a pure red!!!

Thanks for the pics Icy!!!!

That jadeite ring is luscious!!!!!!

Didn't care for the pearls! They're kinda meh after seeing all the pics on the pearl forum!

I agree with you on the rectangular sapphire. Looks like a blob of dark blue to me!

It really shows how important it is to see the items in real life. The paraiba ring too. It’s very very clean and big of course but rather unimpressive irl. Or maybe just not my color. Even the Christie’s person at the counter commented on that. Not great against my skin tone unlike the deeper colors like jadeite etc.

Were they strict with security Icy? I'm really impressed how you can just take pics and handle the stuff.

Australia, which has lots of stores with overpriced crappy jewelry, is super b#tchy about its photography rules.

I remember Wriston being chilled and letting me take pics when I went to Singapore and I was stunned because they're so touchy here even when their stuff is stock settings from Hong Kong and China anyway!

Re paraiba: I find the window/tilt window distracting at that size!

I thought they would be but they were ok. I mean clearly I can’t afford the sunrise ruby but they still let me try right? That said because I could try the stuff I’m seriously considering to bid on some items.

I think in Singapore typically the stores I’ve been to are quite chill. There are some uppity ones but if they are snobbish I will never patronize them. Photos some allow and some don’t. I’m not fussed if they don’t allow but the trying on stuff is my line in the sand so to speak. Mind you I’m usually dressed like a typical Singaporean (slippers, etc) but if I need to dress up for you to serve me then I’ll just not bother. Only exception is stores like Tiffany where they don’t serve you otherwise. So I put on all my blings and flash them under the spotlights else you get ignored.

Natural pearls are all like that! But they are fab for naturals.

I liked the pear diamond drops, and my beer money budget would only stretch to a pair of white CSs like the ones in one of the pairs of drops that should be on their way to me soon! :lol-2:

The Paraiba ring did not thrill me as the colour is too much like a EB Topaz, sorry!

I like the Paraiba pendant in the background though.

The large rectangle Sapphire is too dark for my liking.

I would glad take any of Ruby rings. And the Jades - she has good eyes for Jades! :kiss2:

DK :))

Good eye! The pear diamond drops were stunningly beautiful.

Not that nice irl. But Paraibas usually photography well. Same for the jadeites to be honest.

Ok added the rest of the pics to IG. Enjoy!

Too bad, I don't get to enjoy.
Like may who care about their privacy, I'm not on any on the social media platforms (IG, FB, TW, LI, SC, TMBL, PIN, RED, YT, TT, TWIT, SC, WECH, TWITCH, WH AP, QUOR, FLICK, MU, ND, TIN, MS, etc.) with terms of agreement that require we give them permission them to steal our personal info to make money off of, as if we were barrels of oil, or widgets to sell.

Oh well.
I'd rather miss out on some things than drop my pants and spread my legs so some multi-billionaires can get richer. :knockout:

Another reason I post pics my pics only at PS is so PS can enjoy the income generated by the eyeballs viewing my content, instead of giving it to the multi-billionaire social media sites who don't need the money.

So interesting! Thank you for doing so!!

I dropped my pants and spread my legs to see some lovely photos.
Done so for receiving far less before.

I do wonder if the triple strand of pearls show effects of improper wearing /care?

The 21.38 blue looks noticeably more transparent in other photos online - a tiny tiny “dark” Royal Blue that behaves just like that would be much up my alley, looks like I’m in the minority tho!!

That emerald halo - the cut of the emerald - the setting - those cluster stones - gahhhhhhhh

I agree but it’s more the choice of faceting pattern imo makes it look reminiscent mass produced topaz/quartz. I wonder (not that a recut is ever likely) if a more Portuguese type cut would alleviate that?

Pearls can show wear and tear but honestly all the naturals I’ve seen at shows look like that or worst. Like smaller pearls, not as round, etc. So I think that’s just how they look. This strand looks remarkably round fro naturals to be honest.

The sapphire is blue irl. I took the photo from behind a glass display so it makes the blues look dark. But it’s not a lively sort of blue. At least didn’t seem so behind the glass.

Thank you!

What was your impression of the Sunrise ruby irl? Is it as stunning as the price suggests?

It’s beautiful but I’m not at the level where I’m qualified to opine if it’s worth >30M…

Very red though. And lively and clean considering the size and origin (usually Burmese rubies can be so included).

@Crimson what did you think?

Btw on display were stuff from both the Heidi Horten collection and Magnificent Jewels auction. I was too dazzled to rem which is which.

Yo Y'allz ...
When you say "natural pearl" does that mean it is not a cultured pearl?

Correct me if I'm wrong but a cultured pearl started as a ball inserted by a person, then was left for some period of time to be coatedby the oyster with thin coat of natural nacre.

Whereas 100% of a natural pearl was created by the oyster from back (a very long time ago) when it started as a grain of foreign debris, often one grain of sand that got forced (not by people, but naturally) into the oyster by water current, et al.

... making a natural pearl a zillion times more rare than a cultured pearl.

Right?

I just read that Mrs. Horten dropped dead from the worst case of DSS ever recorded.

Yes not cultured. Naturally occurring pearls. Very rare. Even rarer when they are round. Which makes that strand super duper rare.

@icy_jade forgot to ask, did the massive jadeite ring have backing?

Haha I have an obsession with backing. Always curious if it's there or not.

@VividRed @icy_jade I am attaching my photos. I am partial to rubies and red stones.
I must say that I didn’t get goosebumps looking at it or wearing it.
Maybe I am just that difficult to impress!
It is a lovely ruby, and I appreciate its silk. In indoor light it had that soft velvet, non-flashy look - a bit like Kashmir sapphire.
I would say it looks best under yellow light.
You can see the pleochroism especially in the side shot. I do like the tinge of purple,
