Oh Congrats! Sounds like you have the perfect stone for you!

Very exciting Deanna! I can''t wait to see pictures of this baby!

Its early here in Riverside, CA and I am about to leave to take kids to school...just wondering, should I take the GOG cushion to an independent appraiser before I fully commit to keeping her? Remember, I am new to all this and am still in a fog about this whole thing so I don''t want to blow it!!!

I would do so...not because I don''t trust the cert or GOG...but that I would want that insured asap.

Ok...so what do you or anyone else know about Consumers Gem Lab? I saw their link and webpage when I was on GOG. They sound reputable and highly informative. Has anyone used their services? They have a couple of packages to choose from cost wise and it all makes sense...but I would appreciate anyone who has used them to chime in here...

Kaleigh? I know you bought your asscher from GOG...did you use Consumer Gem Lab or do you know anything about them? Just putting out feelers...

Deanne,
Consumers Gem Lab is run by RocDoc who posts here on PS. From what i''ve heard he is one of the best in the business

Just thought I''d mention that I pmed RockDoc about Consumers Gem Lab about an appraisal on the cushion stone. I also went to one jeweler in my area. They had some very lovely pieces, mostly in WG, but all amazingly affordable--I thought. Of course, the one setting that I was really drawn to was also the most expensive, but it was breathtaking. It had milgraining on it--which I LOVE--2 side diamonds that were like tapered bullet shaped diamonds, but were not rounded but angular. The ring had the shank brushed were there wasn''t diamonds and it was beautiful. On top of each of the prongs was a tiny round diamond which made the cushion the salesman put in as the center stone just pop

.
Tomorrow, I plan to go to another jewelry store, one that worked on the prongs of my current ring when it developed problems. They are known for their exquisite selection, excellent prices and popular patient manner with customers. I have been in there before just to look at diamonds and settings on a casual level, but now things are different and I have a good reason to linger!

My hubby will help me get some good photos to post tomorrow as well. I had a little minor dental surgery yesterday so I wasn''t really in the mood or position to do too much, but today I am so much better despite being sore. Looking at diamonds is very uplifting!

Hi Deanne! I''ve been following your diamond search and I''m glad you found a cushion you''re happy with. I think cushion shaped diamonds are so romantic looking. I can''t wait to see your finished ring!

Yes...I am going to send the stone off to get appraised and provided that goes well---and I believe it will---the next step is to insure the stone and then set her a beautiful setting. And the stone was a SI2 but she is a luscious eye clean white stone...I was truly surprised with her when she arrived and still glance at her a few times a day to make sure she''s real!
emwink.gif

Thanks for asking...and I will be working on those pixes asap...

I was looking over the info on GOG''s website on the 1.21 cushion I have in my possession...I thought I''d post the info for all of you at PS to help judge her accordingly...

Weight: 1.21 carat
Width: 5.71 mm
Length: 6.12mm L/W Ratio 1.07
Total Depth: 4.27mm 74.8%
Pavillion Depth: 3.07mm 53%
Pavillion Angle: 38.5'' (38.4''-38.6'')
Crown Height: 0.91mm 15.9%
Crown Angle: 37.7'' (36.8''-38.1'')
Table Size: 3.26mm 57.0%
Girdle Thickness: 0.29mm 5.1%
Culet off center: 0.4% (W:0.8%, L:0.7%)
Table off center: 0.04mm

I am so new at acquiring knowledge about diamonds, especially fancy cuts, that I wanted to get your opinions of these stats. I know 3/4 of whether this is an acceptable ring is in the cut and in my liking of what I see, but I have to get real, too.
Any comments? I appreciate your opinions because so many of you truly know what you are talking about...

Here are my long awaited pixes of the GOG 1.21 cushion...

Nice back yard BTW!!

Thanks for all of your comments! I was so excited to have the clouds part enough for me to get a little sunshine for these photos...I am going to package the cushion up along with my .71 princess cut ring in YG and send them off to RockDoc later today for appraisals...I also have had a hard time not wanting to keep looking the cushion outside in the sun...

Doesn''t the cushion face up SO white?!!

Thank you, Patty...as for the setting...I am not sure yet. I have seen a few settings at jewelry stores but I now that I have the stone, I need to check out all possibilities for the position that I would like it set. So you think an east-west setting would be pretty?
emotion-40.gif
I hadn''t really considered that, but then, I have definitely been in somewhat of a fog or a dreamstate since this stone arrived!
emotion-20.gif

What do you think of the specs I posted about the stone? RockDoc told me that with fancies, the numbers are definitely a guide, not the rule...of course, after he sees this stone and gives me the thumbs up
emthup.gif
, then I will really get excited! Not that I am not already!!!!

It''s a great stone...forget the details of the numbers...
And equally important...CAN I COME OVER AND DO A BELLY FLOP IN THAT POOL?????????????
