I need mad job dust ladies.
My job is cuting my hours so they can give someone overtime (which is ridiculous
29.gif
) so I''m looking for a new job ...dust would be appreciated!

OK, that IS ridiculous. Do you guys do the same job???

Much, much dust!!!!

And I''m sorry, but NO WAY are all birthdays after 21 downhill!!!!! My 21st stunk b/c I drank too much. But my 30th was awesome... my friends (who now had $$ to spend) treated me to a fabulous dinner and a few bottles of wine. And my BF at the time cooked me a fantastic meal and bought me a gorgeous cashmere blanket. The guy is outta the picture, but that blanket sure does keep me warm and cozy!
yes we are both bartenders, he has 5 shifts I had 2. They cut one of his shifts for labor so he complained and they gave him one of mine. Altho I''m told I''m a harder worker and i get my job done. But since I dont hang out with the managers after work and Im not a huge brown noser I lose.
It''s ridiculous!!

Morning everyone! I forgot my stupid breakfast so I get to eat a croissant from Starbucks. Darn!

CK, that may be the dumbest thing I''ve heard.

So I take it you are not in a position where you have guaranteed hours per week... meaning they don''t classify you as a full-time employee? Did they basically tell you they were cutting your hours so he could have more?

yeah this isnt the first time they''ve done something like this. Then like a few weeks later after I''d been job searching they upped my hours a bit. I am just going to be diligent until I find a better job, I can''t take these games anymore neither can my wallet.. I''m already mad behind

on a happy note tho... my SO is singing in the shower again....hahahahaha

Ugh. Just got an email from my BF.

So... before I explain the situation, it''s important to note that tomorrow morning, the village is coming to inspect the kitchen. We need to have this done before we can have our kitchen cabinets and countertops installed. The inspector is also going to be looking at our outlets/electrical wiring to ensure it is up to code. And our cabinets are supposed to be installed a week from tomorrow. So if the inspection does not go well, we do not have a big window of time to have things re-done or re-inspected.

So last night, BF was doing a little clean-up work in the kitchen and was installing some outlet covers. I fell asleep during this and didn''t really know what he was doing.

Anyway... I just got an email from him telling me that apparently, there is now no power on the side of the kitchen were most of the outlets are and also no power in the garage.

Not good for this to happen the day before we are having the inspection!!!! Tonight could be a long night...

I was told I would have my set schedule which was thursday mornings and sunday mornings and that was what they wanted me to work. Which I was ok with.
Then they cut hours on a busy night because labr has been high and the guy they cut (since he had more shifts then any other bartender) whined, SO they said "hey she never complains when we dick her over" and gave him my thursday shift. Thing they didnt ask me (altho they ask EVERONE else when the schedule is changed if everything is ok) but not me. So I work 1 day a week and they exppect me to survive on that (if I look for a second job or get a second job I was told my hours would go down even lower or I could be let go) so yeahs its a huge mess!

and I used to be a full time employee and Im the only person that will come in on call. This gent calls out sick almost every week and I always come in the work his shifts on top of other peoples.

your guy takes a shower! i guess you can test out le BO on him then

2. dust on the job search and from experience get out while you can. i waited wayyy too long in a job like that and aside from the hours the management started treating us badly. after i quit all but two of the girls that i had trained quit within a couple months.

i''ve always wanted to bartend. it''s on my list of jobs to learn, and around here places are always looking for experienced ones (hence my problem with the learning it bit) i''d love to combine that and working at an airport, airports are such fun to wander around in.

That''s awful! I''d go in and complain...let them know that they''re taking advantage of the fact that you haven''t spoken up in the past, and that you''re not okay with them taking shifts away from you without asking.

And yeah, I''d be looking for another job, because these managers don''t seem to be appreciative of the fact that you''re a loyal, hard worker!

Sorry you''re in this situation
14.gif

CK - ugh, that just SUCKS. forget them!

squirly - haha, i wouldlove to blame it on grimlins. to bad its just Fi!!

Curly - hopefully its just a blown fuse!

Also...happy birthday, Lilac!

DITTO!!!!

i think you should gift wrap some TP for him with a note saying "i''ve noticed how much you love this stuff since you like to use it til the very last sheet, and since you must be so upset when you run out, here''s some to replace it with next time that happens!"

then i''d run like the dickens to avoid being tickled.

curly- maybe it''ll storm tonight and then no one will have power and they''ll have to reschedule. it does sound like a blown fuse though. maybe he tripped the circuit breaker last night and didn''t notice. is your kitchen by chance on the same circuit as part of your garage? and so long as he grounded the important lines correctly and keeps the major appliances on different circuits then you guys should be fine

LOL squirrly. no, i just replaced it. wife duties, doncha know

although, i won the milk battle. no more 2% wooohooo!!

It''s possible it''s a blown fuse, but... I think BF checked to see if that was the case before he left for work. I would think that the garage would have it''s own separate circut due to it''s location, but you never know. We have seen so many weird things with the wiring of this kitchen since we started, that we never know what we''re going to discover. It''s a really old house (85 years old), and the previous owners did some very, very bizarre things to the house (we still love the house despite this).

So hopefully it is not anything major.

Cute idea on the TP issue... though I have been "stranded" so many times in private AND public places that I am now conditioned to look before I''m at the point of no return!

hehe. i must be the husband then. he cooks and cleans and irons and does the laundry and folds and sorts the laundry... he even knows how to fold the end of the TP if necessary. i likey this military training bit. a loooooooooot.

curly- i love fixer-uppers and restorations, but yeah, good luck with the previous owner''s "improvements" it''s going to be amazing when you''re done though! (and look when i open the garage door the oven kicks on so it should be all warmed up by the time we''ve gotten in and gotten supper started)

haha, that is funny. nice to know you can get a head start on dinner!!

Ugh. So, despite being a planner type, I''ve run into a complete roadblock for the weekend.

B''s birthday is on Saturday. I''ve already gotten his present (which I am SO excited about!) but we have zero plans. And since it''s the 4th of July, I feel like we''re sort of limited. Totally waited too long on this, but we wanted to see if any of our friends would be in town (they won''t be) or if we''d maybe take a trip to Chicago (we''re not) and now there''s nothing on the schedule. It''s his 30th, and I would feel SO LAME if we didn''t do something.

Last-minute suggestions? Grilling is out, because we''re doing that on Friday when our friends are in town.

The only thing I have planned is the kind of cake I''ll be baking. He doesn''t like real cake, so I''m going to do a multi-tiered chocolate chip cookie cake and fill it with that yummy chocolate chip cream that goes in cannolis.

Doesn''t St. Louis have a big July 4th celebration downtown? They used to have concerts and stuff, right by the Arch. But they may not still be doing that.

Could you take him for a nice picnic in Forest Park? They have paddle boats you can rent - that might be kinda nice.

Good call on the fireworks thing. I''m pretty sure that''s still going on, and I''ll see if he''s interested.

Forgot about the other hitch -- the paddle boat/picnic thing is what we''ll be doing in the afternoon for my birthday. Which is....the day before.

Love the idea, though

Great minds think alike!!

(this birthday thing was much easier when we lived in the same city as all of our friends -- we just threw a huge party for both of our birthdays, and there wasn''t much thinking that had to go into it)

off to work, my friends!

good luck figuring out the bday thing. honestly i would say as long as YOU pay him attentino, it doesnt matter how the celebration went!

ciao!

Thanks!

Have fun at work (well, you know, as much fun as work can be, right?)

Lilac- Happy Birthday! Enjoy the wining and dining!!!

Curly- Good luck with the kitchen, hope tonight isn't too stressful for you

Ckrickett- that is all just ridiculous-- *job dust!!!*

Jcarlylew-- I would totally (
11.gif
and this is if it's happened often enough, after asking him to pleeeease replace the TP after it's gone- go in to the bathroom, and remove alllll the TP except for that last roll, and hopefully he'll get stuck in there one time- then you can have an "aha! how do you like it, my little man friend??"

Of course, if it's just a every once in a blue moon dealy, I wouldn't do that...but when it starts to happen often...

Thanks everyone! Just got back from lunch - had a nice time. The thing I ordered first wasn''t so great so my mom insisted I order something else to eat that I would enjoy. So now I have lunch for DH tomorrow (the food I didn''t like so much) and leftovers from the food I did like. Yay for lunch tomorrow!

Ckrickett - sending job *dust*!

Curly - good luck with the kitchen
40.gif

Jcarlylew - DH leaves one sheet of paper on the TP roll. Drives me crazy. I usually keep a box of tissues in the bathroom for that exact reason. Maybe try leaving a post-it note reminding him to change it?

OH yeah.. also another reason why I want a new job.
SO said once I get a better job and all of our finances are in order we can look/order my ring (he said looks but I''ve been looking for months so he just needs to give me the OK and we can order it) which MEANS hopefully in the next few months I can be off the list!!!

(he said something like 2-3 months)
