The LIW Small Talk Thread

Morning everyone.

Congratulations WL!

T-day? Hmm.
We have 2 turkeys ordered. I''ll cook. B will help. We''ll sit down to eat and wonder what on earth I was thinking to cook that much food for just the 2 of us. (I LOVE leftovers) And how are we ever going to get it in the refrigerator.

My mom will be coming over Friday for her cooking lessons. Last week was cake baking. This week is bread baking & something. (maybe cranberries?)

OK, ladies, so I''m trying to pick out an ornament for us for this Christmas (it''s a tradition that we get one every year). I want to commemorate the new house and I''m looking at a few. Want to help me decide?

1. Pewter House - Elegant, but the engraving would be on the bottom, which I don''t know if I love.

2. Clay Snowman House - Cute and I like that it has the names on the snowmen, but maybe too cutesy?

3. Clay Couple in House - Similar to the last one, but with people rather than snowmen.

If we got the first one, it would just say "Kris & Liz 2009". The others would say that as well as "Our First Home". Thoughts?

I''m starving. We''ve only talked food in this thread. I think I will be having stuffing, kraft dinner with weiners, and spaghetti''os for lunch.

So we went to the IDF Orchestral Ensemble Thusday evening.

I was expecting violins, flutes, etc. The usual orchestra stuff but smaller group.
Boy was I wrong.

2 trumpets, 1 trombone, drums, piano, bass guitar, & 2 singers.

The evening ended with the audience dancing in the aisles and the musicians walking out to join us.

So much fun.

Hey WL and Sunny--did you know that the Willamette Valley has one of their two big wine weekends of the year Thanksgiving weekend??? Maybe worth a road trip???

Also, K and I have been talking about making a weekend trip up to Seattle in January and I told him that if that was the case, I would have to take some time to see you ladies. Any preferred weekends?

I like #3! I like #1 too, but it''s very formal looking, if that makes sense. And #3 has just the right amount of cutesy.

My favorite is #3. I like that it is personalized and says that it is your first home.

It also ensures that children/grandchildren/nieces/nephews/whatever can look at it years from now and know just what it means to you.

Ooohhh! A local wine outlet is having a huge sale. We''re there.

Yay! I''m on my honeymoon from the 23-31, so those 2 weekends are out for me.

i go for the free cake!
actually, i believe sunnyd got her dress at one (or am i confusing myself?)

i think you can find lots of deals, ideas and junk/crap at all shows. i might actually NOT go becuase everything else will be in place, and i dont want to feel wishy washy on anything.

You said you had a green card? Did Seattle separate from the state of Washington?

Crazy good deals. Just give vendors a fake number if you must.

I only got a few calls though and I signed up everywhere!

print up address labels in advance so you can just stick one on a card if you need to sign up for something. Your hand will get soooo tired otherwise.

7th and dearborn, under I-5 practically. Last time I went there I missed the bus stop, so I had to walk and it was cold and I was wearing a skirt and I had to walk 6 blocks back to the office because I couldn''t get a bus back.

OK good deals on what? Please don''t make fun of me but I went to one of these once and I just got sooooo frustrated that all I did was eat pretzels dipped in chocolate. So it''s worth it?

Nah, I''m an alien. From Canada.

hmm, never been to a bridal show, is it just mass chaos with tons of white? can you buy a dress there?

i just had to share this with you ladies! so bf bought our puppy a new bed. he thought she wouldn''t take to it right away since it would require her to curl up to sleep, but she LOVES it! he took this pic of her in the office where she is normally bouncing off the walls and stealing things from trash cans
