Yeah, today was too busy with clients all day. It''ll be like this the rest of the week
39.gif

WL, I need a jet too to go to see vc and get a cupquake from her bakery. Then we need it to come back here to find some classy lingerie at the mall
2.gif

I am SO not good at doing that kind of stuff on my own! I think I was 18 or 19 the last time I bought actual lingerie. FI''s rationale is it ends up on the floor anyway, so why bother?

31.gif

NOOOOO. NOT ALLOWED. No clients. Only Small Talk.

But yes yes come visit and get a cupquake!!!
36.gif
Hehe, I would love a client free day
11.gif

But, seriously, FI and I want to visit DC in the spring for an overnighter. If you know of any good, clean reasonablly priced hotels, refer away

"Reasonably priced" means different things to different people...but if you give me a better range, I can give you some suggestions.
9.gif

Oh yeah...and as for the lingerie. Just do what I do. Wear it around the kitchen. It gets WAY more use that way.
31.gif

And on that note...I''m off!

A''s on his way home, which means my workday is done, and it''s time to make dinner!!!

Around $100-$125/night, less is better

Have a good night gals! I should really be paying attention in class now!

PP. For that rate, you won't find much downtown that I'd *want* to stay at, lol, but you can stay in a really nice hotel in Alexandria (by me!) and be a short Metro Ride into the city.

I've heard really nice things about this hotel: .numberOfAdults=2&tab=description&arrivalDate=04-09-10&hotelId=207790&lat=0.0:2o8h065d]Residence Inn Alexandria Old Town
This one is right behind my office: .numberOfAdults=2&tab=description&arrivalDate=04-09-10&hotelId=259928&lat=0.0:2o8h065d]The Westin Alexandria
This one is literally across the street from the metro station: .numberOfAdults=2&tab=description&arrivalDate=04-09-10&hotelId=169920&lat=0.0:2o8h065d]Hilton Alexandria Old Town

All of those are a short walk (1-5 minutes) from the King Street Metro Station, which runs the Yellow and Blue lines. You can also pick up the Old Town Trolley at the King Street Metro Station which will take you down to the Alexandria Waterfront where there are some great shops and some yummy restaurants (including the bakery with the cupquakes

Ha! Thank you.

It wasn''t so bad getting up and going, but I''m really tired now!
39.gif

That will get better if you keep going in the morning. I find I''m more awake after going in the morning than the evening.

Red bull used to help a lot to get me moving in the morning. Also, make sure you eat before and after, just something small. GNC also makes awesome vitamins for active women, they''ve got a pick me up in them.

Ohhh red bull, eh? I cannot drink that stuff!

I really should eat before but I just don''t have the stomach for it that early in the morning.

How often do you (anyone!) work out?

I was working out every morning, at least 4 days a week, I'd try for 5 and take the weekend off (though we'd try and do something active at least one of the days). My workouts were basically power walking on the treadmill for 30-45 and then weights and stretching. When I was really working out to lose weight I was alternating 20-30 minute sessions on the treadmill (jogging/walking) and on the recumbent bike (hill program) for a total of 60 minutes/day of cardio. I alternated because I get really really bored easily. Then some days I'd do weights, but primarily I was focusing on cardio to lose all over. I was also aiming for 1300-1400 cal/day (I was 155/5'7" size 10/12). I ended up around 130 and a size 6 doing the cardio 4-5 days and watching my calories (I'd record everything I ate on the daily plate). I would also take a break on the calorie counting on the weekend, but I wouldn't use that as an excuse to eat everything in sight. Now I'm back up to where I was before I lost the weight
7.gif

In the morning before the gym I'd eat a Joseph's Omega 3 whole wheat tortilla with peanut butter and sometimes a banana to get something on my stomach (otherwise the hunger would hit mid workout and make me queasy) and then after I'd have 2 hard boiled eggs or something else with protein and fat in it. Lunch would be a veggie wrap with hummus, laughing cow cheese with wasa crackers, a jello cup, and other fruit and veggies, and then I'd have stuff for snacks as well like yogurt and cheese sticks. Dinner was a good amount of protein (average sized chicken breasts are usually 2 servings of meat), a veggie and brown rice or another whole grain. For dessert I'd have sugar free popsicles or fudgesicles or jello. ETA: Eating light during the week allowed me to include an extra 150-200 cals/day for chocolate or other treats.

I''m aiming for 4-5 days a week... but I''m not sure I should start out that way. I don''t want to overkill and then not build the habit. I was surprised, however, at how easy it was to get out of bed and work out this morning. Maybe I could just go work out every morning M-F. Weds I have a cardio class at 6, so I could skip Weds morning.

Your breakfast sounds like something I could tolerate, banana or tortilla/PB. I felt like when I was on the treadmill that I needed food. I guess its best to have something to burn.

I''m at 5''10" and 166 as of yesterday.
39.gif
I was about 158-160 at the wedding. But to be fair, I had like 3 weeks of nonstop cupcake eating not too long ago. I started monitoring calories again - aiming for 1500/day. I''d like to get down to about 150. Anything below that and I''m too skinny ( I need some boobage for the b-pics!!! those are the first to go!) If I can cram myself into a size 8 I''ll be pleased.

don''t feel bad about your weight gain, HH! You obviously need it, and you know you can take it off after the baby. ENJOY your time of guilt free weight gain!

Also, HH, there was a thread calling out for you in Newlyweds!

I totally get what your saying. For me, I had to go every day to build the habit, I would just do lighter workouts at first and then build up the intensity. And I don''t feel bad about gaining while pg, I feel bad about what I gained BEFORE that. 15 lbs of that was just between the wedding (July) and December.

Yeah I don''t know what would be best for me. Every day, or take it easy. I definitely can''t do much on the treadmill yet. I ran for only about 5-6 minutes, and walked the other 35 on a higher incline. Plus my knees were cracking and popping when I ran. I have terrible knees!

Ah ok I see what you''re saying about the weight gain! This "getting in shape" for me is of course, about b-pics, but I''d like to be in the habit of a healthy diet and exercise before we TTC. I realize its still far off, but the longer I stay in the habit, the easier it''ll be to keep up on it when I''m finally KTFU.

Its BS how quickly we put on weight after our weddings! I don''t even know how it happened!

Morning, ladies!!!

YAY elle for morning workout! I''m in my yoga clothes ready to hit the gym at 11!
I really don''t have anything more to add over what HH already said about working out. What you can do now, though, as far as going 4-5 days per week is start doing shorter workouts every day, then gradually increase the amount of time. That way, you''ve got a schedule going, but it''s not going to burn you out too quickly.

A and I are fighting this morning. Same fight we always have.

Me: You didn''t do the dishes.

Morning Wife!! Happy to have you today!

HDG - HI! BYE!

No problem HH.

Yay Elle for the Gym!

never be afraid to start small and work your way up. building a routine and a (healthy) habit is super important, and people forget that you should be building up the (healthy) habit of eating right and working out.

Definately invest in a couple types of classes - that will help starve off boredom! Try the express classes to see if you have a taste for them, and then go for the full classes later on. That how i did with cycleing. next class up - express step. Though i am not cordinated!

my dog just burped in my face. awesome.
20.gif

okay - off to my day of h-e-double hockey sticks. 8 hours of work and then 5 hours of first aid training. i better be able to save some dang lives after this.

First off, LOL @ your dog.

Yeah I''ll aim for 5 days a week. I can do that. After my current class ends, I''m going to try a yoga class at the Y.

That''s a long @$$ day, Jcar. Good thing you''ll be able to first aid yourself back to alive if you don''t make it through the whole day.
