Thanks, girls! I talked to her this morning, and she seems to have mellowed a bit. Thankfully.
Good to hear. Sometimes moms are a bit nuts.

Sidenote: Why can''t I stay away from the sweets? I see them and I eat them. This is Not Good.
My appetite for sweets was insatiable yesterday. I was craving EVERYTHING.
38.gif
I''m starting Weight Watchers again today, so what did I do? Eat 1/3 of a bag of Rolos! Awesome. Two thumbs up, princesss. Two thumbs waaaaaaaay up.
20.gif
LOL. Niiiice.

I''ve found the Weight Watches fudge brownie ice cream cups (2 pts each!) do the trick. It really helps the sweet tooth!

Morning all!

Morning LP!

Know what''s weird? I''ve had a bag of chips on my desk for like 2 weeks and I haven''t opened them. If they were at home, I would have devoured them long ago!

Okay, I guess it''s not that weird. I think my soul-killing summer job is making me (more) boring. Sorry you have to witness it...

Okay, so, here''s the thing. I''m recommiting to getting healthy. Which means getting rid of all the junk I keep in my desk.

How did I do that?

I ate it. Perhaps I need a little more work on this "healthy" thing...

In more successful news, I am giving up soda. Totally. Except with alcohol. More because my dentist said I''ll have cavities in every tooth in six months if I keep going the way I was going. I already have 6 cavities that need to be filled. No good. And I''m playing frisbee 3 times a week and running and biking, and dangit, I might as well get the food under control, too.

So yes. This is my life now. Prepare for some whining (especially because soda was how I got all of my caffiene, which I''m now cutting out as well).

I just laughed out loud at the "I ate it." comment. You remind me of myself.

Good for you for committing to this. I LOVE Coke, especially from a can. I can slurp back many in a sitting if someone lets me. The best way to avoid it is just not keeping it at home. It WILL get esier! I remind myself how much I love feeling hydrated and how much good drinking a lot of water is for my body.

You''re great, princesss! You can do it!!

Thanks, ladies. I think I just need to keep saying it to make it real, you know? But I''ve done it before and felt great, so I just need to focus on what makes my body feel good and not what makes my tongue feel good.

Princesss - Great job on recommitting yourself to being healthier! I gave up soda cold turkey years ago and what claritek said is spot on. Now I drink mostly water and the occasional glass of iced tea and do feel so much healthier and more refreshed than when I used to drink soda. I know you can do it!

I cut out the coke a while ago, and a few weeks ago cut out coffee.
6.gif
I know. It was easy actually, and I think I'm actually more awake without it than I was with it! I do partake in a Fresca if I need something carbonated though. It's so refreshing!! You can do it princesss!!

I''ve struggled with my weight for what seems like forever, and what really helps to keep me on track is the desire to be healthy (not just thin). So I think you''ve got a great goal! It just feels better to eat and drink what''s good for your body!

This is so true! I love good food, I just got lazy. BF is on a healthy kick right now, so we''re lucky to have each other be really focused on it at the same time. Makes life easier. Plus with the frisbee team going, I want to get better, and sugar isn''t going to do that. Protein, vegetables, and whole grains are going to do that. And water. LOTS of water (I''m halfway through my third 20 oz bottle today...and the caffiene headache is starting to kick in. Right between the eyes. YUCK.)

Kicking the soda habit was a lot easier than I thought. I just replaced soda with water, and when I need the caffeine kick, I go for the green tea. Green tea+water = my skin looks SO MUCH BETTER.

I hardly crave coke any more. I don''t keep it in the house anymore, but will occasionally treat myself at a restaurant, or if we''re ordering in pizza, which is rare.

You sound like you''re making a good start Princesss.. at least mentally.
2.gif
We''ll pretend the rolos didn''t happen, and start fresh RIGHT NOW!

50 oz of water is a LOT.

Princesss, we don't drink soda either and while I never really did, FI used to drink a TON. If it helps, the way he cut it out was that every time he craved a soda, he made himself drink a big glass of water before he could have one. He found that most of the time, he wasn't actually wanting soda for the taste, he was just thirsty and that's what he was used to drinking.

I've also found that mineral water with lime is a really refreshing substitute--no sugar, but it gives you the same sort of feeling because of the natural carbonation. If I want a little more flavor, sometimes I'll mix in some cranberry juice. If you like unsweetened iced tea, that can be a good way to cut back on the caffeine and drink something with a little bit of flavor without all the sugar. You could also make your own unsweetened herbal iced tea, which would be a little sweeter and uncaffeinated but still have more taste that just plain water.

Good luck! We found that cutting out high fructose corn syrup made a huge difference in terms of how we felt and FI lost like 40 or 50 pounds just from doing that. Let me know if you have any questions!

ETA: It sounds like you have no problems with just drinking water--never mind if the suggestions above are irrelevent.

Really? Does green tea help the complexion, or is it just that you''re drinking more fluids? Hmmm.
Also - what kind of green tea do you usually drink? There are a lot of bagged green teas that are too bitter for me...

SERIOUSLY. I hate that stuff. One thing to look for is organic stuff because it usually doesn''t have it in it. For example Trader Joes organic ketchup is made with real sugar rather than HFCS.

It also helps that we don''t really not eat anything else--I will totally eat sugar, real butter, etc. Actually, I prefer that to "diet" food--I think it''s better to have a little bit of the real thing than a bunch of empty calories, you know? So we don''t worry about most other stuff on the label. And we''ll make an exception if we''re at someone else''s house or whatever--we''re not anal about it.

I''m not sure. But the combo of both helps a lot. I find my breakouts are reduced, and if I REALLY slam the green tea, the inflammation reduces quickly... so less redness overall.

I just usually drink the Bigelow green tea at work, it''s not bitter at all. I drink about 3 cups a day.

yeah, I''m trying to eat less processed food in general -- easiest way to avoid it!

I try not to be anal. if you make "right" choices when you have the option, then a couple of wrong choices here or there isn''t the end of the world. that''s the best way to diet/be healthy, IMO. Easy to stick with!

I should''ve checked to see if the WW ice cream has HFCS in it. It''s PERFECT for helping my chocolate craving... hopefully it doesnt...

Be careful with the maltitol. That''s commonly used in a lot of sugar free products and can cause major gastrointestinal distress. As long as you don''t eat the whole carton of ice cream in one sitting, you''re probably okay. LOL

I''ve heard endless things about the benefits of green tea. Acne, weight loss, cold sores... so much stuff it helps with. Tea is really good for you, particularly green tea I have read.

Im trying to rid myself of breakouts by eating natural foods and cutting out dairy, sugar, etc where possible. I''m trying to be more "natural" than I have in the past. I have a feeling that would help with a lot of my issues.

Elle,

I saw your post in my thread today - thanks for the campsite dust! Do you know which site you''ll be at yet for the weekend? We had a weird problem with the reservations where we originally had two sites reserved for different days of the trip, but we are now in one site for the whole time (#120 by Devoe Lake).

Ugh! No! I asked FI earlier if he knew... and of course he doesnt. He''s the contact person for the trip as we''re going with his friends. Hopefully he lets me know today! I''ve been bugging him for it.
