I''m not brilliant, but I do tend to have a problem with people who feel the need to express their categorical distrust of doctors and the ''medical profession.''


ETA: Probably comes from being the child of a doctor...

Um... and educated, and someone who forms opinions based on research and personal experience, not just random questionable information.

The large majority (by far) of medical people are probably very well trained and genuinely want to do the best they possibly can for their patients.

The reason I do not trust medical people is because they are PEOPLE. Just like you and me. They get tired or distracted (emergencies happen) and little mistakes occur. Not their fault. It just happens.
I''ve had two family members who would have been killed by a "little mistake" had it not been caught by a family member with them. (One of these was my brother who was given a massively larger dose than he should have been)
I''ve also had personal experiences with little errors.

So even IF the doctors, nurses, technicians, and others are very well trained, using the best tools and technology available, care about the patients, and genuinely do the best they can, I still don''t trust them with my life. They are only human and can (and do) make mistakes.
(my great-grandmother is proof of that -- she is dead thanks to a doctor who overlooked a simple bloodtest that should have been run and would have been run but she was old and he was "certain" it was just arthritis)



This is by no means meant to offend anyone. I have great admiration for the people who spend years in school and dedicate their lives to dealing with sick and injured people. It takes a special person to be able to face that every day.

Auckland anniversary weekend- a public holiday just for living in Auckland. Can''t complain!

I just keep thinking if I had money I could go to the US and see it done properly! I think next time we visit BF''s parents in the UK I may require to stop over in NY for afew days

Being that I''m on a special diet, mine won''t make much sense, but I have 4 meals a day that are 150 calories each, and dinner which is 550ish. Totaling 1,200 for a day.

BTW, this is medically supervised.

ETA: but I just want to point out that your last statement about admiring doctors and medical professionals totally contradicts your distrust of these professionals.

I dont know if I could do 4 meals at 150! I''d eat off my arm.

I had a serving of almonds after my workout for about 160, then 2-3 hours later 160 cal oatmeal. For lunch I had a turkey sand, yogurt, carrots for about 400. I''m hungry again though and I have no snack and still 3 hours til dinner.

Elle, if I''m being good I eat probably a 300-calorie lunch. If I''m not being good I might have anywhere between 500 and 800, I would guess?

Just generalizing. We''re moving out of our condo and in with my dad, I''ve had to wait for a freaking week and a half to get my marriage certificate, I have to go get my name changed, and I have to find a job. BUT I''ve spent the past week with not getting enough sleep, dealing with broken and frozen pipes at my dad''s house, and generally being extremely unhappy.

I eat until I''m full, which these days lasts for about 20 minutes. I have no idea about caloric value.
