As a self-proclaimed J. Crew addict (and a girl with some hips!) I can for sure tell you that that dress will look great on you

Tea Rose is really bright when you see it in person -- stick to simple jewelry and shoes & let the dress be the pop of bright color.

I''m too lazy to look at the jcrew website - do they show it with gold?

ETA: Yes, I can see it now, ''Honey, I''ll be right back! I have to go help Elledizzy with her shoe choice. C''MON LUCKY 7!!''
LOL.

She''s driving right now, so I left her a message on FB!

LOL! I guess the real test of how much fun she''s having will be how quickly she responds!!

Hahahha! I can see her right now on her blackberry surfing Zappos for shoes.

Since she''s in the car right now, she might be entertained by my shoe request!

I hate yellow and gold on me. It''s just awful for my skin tone... but coral actually looks really good on me.

*Sigh*

I never wear yellow, it makes me look sickly -- i understand!
I''d go with beige/nude in that case!!

LOL! W00T! Got a response from Freke... she said silver or turquoise!

Think maybe silver might be to prom-ish?

Oh my that was quick!! I get FB alerts on my BB also, though... it''s great.

Umm, I think silver would be cute - it''s basically a neutral. I wore black shoes to my prom. And a black dress. Yup.

(When I asked my SIL to wear gold or silver sandals to be in my wedding, she made a horrible face and told me that she though only ...um, a certain kind of girl would wear metallic shoes. But her words were a little more harsh.)

LOL... a certain kind of girl, eh? Eeeenteresting...

I wore a white dress and shoes to prom. Thinking back, that seems weird. I probably looked like a very young bride.

Yeah, FB is blocked at work so I basically live through my BB!.

What shoes did your SIL end up wearing?

Turquoise! Turquoise!

Yay! Child bride prom! I think we need a visual aid...? I''d post my prom photo but they didn''t have digital cameras back then.

She ended up wearing gold sandals that my MIL bought her. She''s also notoriously frugal and probably just didn''t want to buy new shoes (even though we paid for her dress, hair, makeup, mani-pedi...). Then she made some comment about how the only gold shoes SHE had ever seen before were stiletto heels with lucite, or something. Whatever!

I have prom pics, but no scanner.

Maybe I can try and figure out a way to get access to one.

Why are people so difficult about weddings? I''m assuming she isn''t having severe financial difficulties when I say this, but shoes can be done fairly inexpensively. I know in high school I paid less than 30 bucks for prom shoes and such.

And yeah, I see gold shoes all of the time, so .. whatever indeed.

I like turquoise, too! That would be gorgeous.

Well, in her particular case, she''s generally a rather difficult person who needs to have things a certain way. They don''t have severe financial difficulties, but they don''t make a ton of money - that''s why we paid for EVERYTHING. And DH''s parents paid airfare and hotel costs. She just takes every opportunity to tell me about how she disapproves of my fashion choices ("Your purse is so big, it''s a SUITCASE!", "Oh I think of gold shoes as being for prostitutes," "That shirt makes you look flat," etc.) She''s a charmer!

Ugh. That is such a bummer when people are like that. Doesn''t anyone ever say anything to her about her attitude?

Hahaha. Yes, I suppose that''ll be OK.

Im hunting shoes right now. Why are all cute shoes always so tall??

LOL, sunnyd -- of course! Regular text messaging rates may apply.

Elle - yes, but in addition to being difficult and pushy, she''s also very sensitive and cries when she feels she''s been affronted. That''s okay; she doesn''t live very close!

Rargh! That is a terrible combination! I''m glad you''ve kept a safe distance!

I''m blessed not to have any crazy in-laws!

what about these in turquoise?

I saw those, and considered them, but they''re just way too tall.

Sad.

Not much to add to the shoe discussion, other than to say you definitely want a heel. If only because heels don''t make you look like you have cankles and flats usually do (not you specifically, just in general). Unless you''re teeny or have super defined ankles, they''re not so pretty and leave you wondering if your calves are really that chunky.

I speak from bitter experience.

Here is another idea.

How about gray?

LOL. Yeah, I will have some heel, just not 4 inches. I don''t like the cankle-tastic look either.

It would definitely give me more heel height options, but turquoise seems so much more fun!
