So, my friend just mentioned to me a new holiday- the "Manniversary". Supposedly, it is the date that the FI proposed!!! She said that this is "his" day because it is the day he summoned the courage he needed to propose and the culmination of the whole ring shopping and perfect proposal design process. I think this is kind of a cute idea, especially for those of us with long engagements to celebrate the proposer in our life!!!! She also said since many of the traditional anniversary gifts are really to celebrate the women, the "manniversary" can be day to give gifts to him- perhaps power tools or sports tickets or something he might enjoy!

Ours will be on December 28th and I am thinking about taking FI to brunch at the lodge where we had our first glass of champagne to celebrate our engagement.
Anyone ever heard of this before??? I thought I would pass the word as I think it is a cute idea.

Very adorable idea. I''ll have to get FI some extra special beer or something for Thanksgiving Day from here on out!

Cute idea, Modernsparkler! Never heard of it before but I''m all for something to celebrate our special guys as they do have many an occasion to celebrate us.

I love your plan and am sure that he will be thrilled to commemorate such a special day this way.

Thanks Sparkalicious. As a fellow Seattle bride I thought I would share that we are to the Salish Lodge, as long as the snow isn''t too bad!

Wonderful! I love The Salish Lodge - what an idyllic setting for your manniversary celebration.

Be careful on your drive there ... Can you believe how terrible the snow has been here!! I can''t imagine what the Snoqualmie Pass is like right now.

Haha, we''ve celebrated our "manniversary" ever since he proposed! I thought pretty much everyone did! Actually, we also use the day he asked me out as another "manniversary."

Oh, that's ADORABLE!

We've celebrated the day he proposed, but not in that way (trying to celebrate him specifically, rather than the relationship in general).

Wow...I just realized I don''t know the day he proposed!!!

Never heard of it. Wow, I don''t even know what date, hubby proposed to me and I am sure he doesn''t remember either. It does sound cute though.

for me, that would be TODAY! it''s been a long year too. i''m very much looking forward to our wedding two months from now. :-)

That''s a cute idea! It will be easy to remember for us because our maniversary will be exactly one month before our wedding.
