We hope to move somewhere up in the North GA, NC, TN, KY ish area when we finish school, I''m sick of the humidity and hot weather here in FL.

go for southern KY then, i live on the IN KY border and due to the river (and we''re a deciduous rainforest/swampland area) the summers are pretty much just as sticky. last summer was the first i can remember that we didn''t hit 100 at all, much less have to week or so of 110s. normally summer''s 90s weather, 100s in mid july through aug.

also the weather here''s on menopause. in dec-feb you can be in the 70s one day and have snow two says later. last year i went hiking in a tee shirt on MLK day and went back to that same trail later in the week bundled up cause it had 2 inches of snow on it. KY''s generally on the snow side of the river, but this year''s 3 inches of ice made it across.

housing prices are great here though, so if you don''t mind getting sick a lot due to rapid weather fluctuations it''s not so bad

Random question:

Do you say ''orange light'' or ''yellow light'' on a traffic signal?
Yellow light, in FL they are distinictly yellow, though I''ve seen some of the new ones with LEDs kind of thing that look more orange to me than yellow, but it''s still a yellow light.

Yellow.

Southern KY would be my max in northern-ness. I didn''t really want to even consider as north as KY but there could be some decent job prospects in some of the bigger cities, so I could deal I think. I don''t know if it''s just the humidity that''s getting to me, it''s that it''s never not hot. This "winter" it didn''t even get down to the 70s.

Why, who says orange?

Why, who says orange?
That''s what I was just wondering?

Why, who says orange?
I saw it in another thread today, and I''ve heard it before. I could never pin it down to a specific geographical area though. Maybe it''s not geographical. Dunno...

I definitely say yellow, though.

Thinking.... maybe "orange" refers to when its changing from yellow to red? Yellow + red = Orange?

hehe i love this picture. that''s a dorm in the background, and this parkinglot has been called the lagoon since before i started school there. the swim team had practice outside that day in a different parking lot.

I was transplanted to FL when I was 12. I didn''t like it. My grandmother moved first and then we sort of all followed. My parents were unhappy with the school system (at least where we were) and the economy just wasn''t as strong as it was in the Northeast, so we moved back 4 years later.
I love a few things about FL. I love that there are so many people like me down there. People who appreciate their rich culture. Lots of wonderful Latin restaurants, always a good party, and the beach, of course. Plus my family is there. BUT, I don''t like that there aren''t a lot of trees, the grass is stiff (why is that?!), all the neighborhoods look very much the same and it''s too pink. Plus it''s just too hot!

For vacation, it''s the best. Buut to live, my hair couldnt'' take it.

That''s a thought, but it only happens for a nano-second at the change...hmmm

But it''s yellow. not orange.

Yeah, my hair isn''t a fan. Over Thanksgiving we usually visit Hiawassee GA (In the very northeastern most corner of GA in the mountains) and my hair behaves beautifully in the nice cold weather of what winter should be like. I can''t wait to move north-ish.

Right... I think it might be a cutesy term to refer to when it''s so yellow, its almost red (hence orange), and maybe you should have stopped instead of running it?

OMG, that''s hilarious. Is this in N KY?

Humidity is the devil.

around here we''ll say the light was orange if we know it''s going to change on us when we''re in the intersection (not quite running a red but about as close as you''ll get)

Yes, yes it is.

I really do like FL. I always have a lot of fun when I''m there. I just couldn''t live there all the time. I love the heat when I''m at the beach but not every day. like to spend a lot of time outdoors. In FL that''s not always possible because it''s so hot. Its like you go from your AC car, to your AC house. Everyday. Because you always have to be in the AC. Otherwise, you melt.

This has been my life for almost 23 years.

purple is a fruit....
What??

it''s in southern indiana, though places in north ky flood like that. on campus it was mostly because of the out-dated sewer system in that part of town that was added onto as evansville grew but never enlarged to deal with the additional runoff. most of the non-city areas have issues due to all the hills, so schools will get closed for rain like that since the busses can''t get out.

last year the kids got a true snow day, then the traditional ice days, as well as some rain days and a new one, a wind day (straight-line winds came through and cut power to a lot of places)

this pic is from the 9th
