As I got a new camera, I know many of your saw this coming, but I want to show the more true colors of my gems that my last camera couldn't capture.

First up, my violet/mahenge spinel ring. Up close shots of both stones and then the full ring. The spinels are 1.91 carat (Mahenge) and 1.5 carats (violet). It's my yin yang ring, I love the cool violet next to the hot hot pink.

My 1.5 carat greyish green diamond. It has a cool metallic luster that I can't quite capture, but it's one of my favs. The dispersion is hard to also capture with this new camera, but it's has a lot of fire.

I think you love your new camera almost as much as your mahenge. How does it do with your chrysoberyl? :naughty:

A new three carat violet spinel I just got, and a box of spinels!! Yes, I'm a spinel addict.

If the sun is out tomorrow, I will upload photos of they chrysoberyl. I didn't wear it today, and I want to get some spess and cuprian photos as well.

Oooh, very nice! What did you get?

Laura

I adore this 2.5 ct lavender pink pear. The pink and blue in there is coming from the stone, and not a reflection. The inclusions are not eye visible, but this new camera can really focus. In the corner is another green diamond ring with two pink diamond sides.

This is a different trillion Mahenge. The other one I think you're thinking of is a solitaire in a halo.

This is a small blue violet spinel that's only one carat, but I love the color.

The camera looks like it takes great pictures :appl:

Looks like you got a great camera, the image clarity is very good and I can see that the colors are on point...I cannot believe I can say that because I never used to be able to tell the difference.

Nice job!

Laura

2.25 ct blue color change spinel and the green diamond again. You can see some of the fluor on the green diamond.

What beautiful clear close ups, they do a great job of capturing the beauty of your stones !!!!!!!!!!!
Love the Bypass Trillions ~ such gorgeous colors together!!!!!

You must be so happy with that camera, so it's easy to use?

Great pics TL! I think I need a new camera.

Thanks ooo~Shiney.

It is easy to use as long as you have enough light. Sunlight works best, but I have to go to a place with brighter indoor lighting to try and take photos. The lighting in my house is very dim and pathetic.

Thanks Packrat,
In a way, I'm kind of glad my old camera fell in the washing machine (hence the reason for a new camera).

Yeah I'm greedy...More, more, more pleasssssee!!!! :appl: :appl:   :naughty: :naughty:

A lavender pink color change spinel cushion that I love, next to a well cut orangey pink spinel. 1.5 and 1.8 carats respectively. See the bubble inclusions in the cushion? It has amazing color though, and I don't think even this camera can capture it well. They've got my smudges all over them.

This 1.59 carat Mahenge didn't want to focus, but at least you can see the blue sheen in there. It's ever so slightly sleepy.

So next you drop the car in the washing machine!

Glad you have a new camera. Your photos are so much better now.

Thank you on behalf of myself and other Colored Stoners. :))

Well i will be a monkey's uncle..golly gosh darn..**edited by moderator** went out and got herself a new camera. Never thought I would see the day. With a fantastic collection of good colored stones it was an injustice to not have good photos like the ones you have now. Well this means you will have to go back and take all new photos for me. I expect to see those emeralds and cuprians ASAP :naughty: :naughty: Glad to see you got a camera and am so happy to see your stones in these quality pictures now. **edited by moderator. please respect the privacy of individuals and do not post real names without permission**

Thanks Flygirl!

Thanks Amguy,
Nice to see you back! :wavey:

So clear and pretty, and I love your stones too.

Thanks Kenny!!! That's a huge compliment coming from you, the master of photography!!
Which violet spinel? I have about four in this thread.

More new pics. First up chrysoberyl. This stone can be used for electric power if need be. I think this hue could be better with the camera though. This stone sparkles so much that it was a nightmare to get an in-focus shot, and finally I got one.

Aw, c'mon, like TL's pics weren't great before?!!

I have been making the most pathetic attempts to take photos and every time I end up with this teeny blurry thing in the middle of the frame - and not necessarily true to color at all. I took pics of one of the tanzanites I have which is violetish blue, and the camera flat out lied and showed a deep royal blue.

Aw, TL, I aspire to take photos as good as your bad photos!

As for your new ones, what astounds me is the clarity of every aspect of the stone - you can see the faceting, you can see the color flashes, inclusions and reflections so clearly. Did you take this set from your car as well?

1.8 carat Mint garnet. The camera is still not perfect with greens. It is more saturated IRL.
